Opinion needed

Hi, I only have one pcp a Brocock contour s6 that had a massive ail leak and sat in the closet for the past 6years because I didn’t think I could fix it myself but thanks to this forum and a 004 O ring is up and running again.
I now have the itch for another pcp and thought I would like to buy a made in USA rifle and found this on eBay (Link below)
if it stays at this price would this rifle be a good deal?

Thank you

Athlon scopes

Ok, their slogan of "ridiculous good optics" is spot on for their price point.

I grabbed a 6-18x44 neos a couple weeks ago to replace my westhunter 4-16x44 since the fine reticle is getting lost in low light and aging eyes. The glass is CLEAR all the way to 18x zoom, and they scream of quality. So I bought another.

This time, it's a 4-12x40 for my new to me BSA ultra. It's just as good as it's bigger brother. I compared it side by side with my 3-9x32 bugbuster on the notos, and the BB just seems like dated cheap glass. I'm thoroughly impressed to say the least and can only imagine how good their top their stuff is. I simply don't have the funds for that good of an optic for an airgun that won't push past 75 yards, so I went with lighter/no frills. I don't need an illuminated reticle, especially with the center X reticle the neos has.

I plan to move the 4-12 neos to my notos after I drop another $180+/- on a 4-16x40 talos to put on the ultra.

Athlon optics FTW in my book, and you can trust me... im an airgun doctor 😉

$8,000 Squirrel, the continuing of saga HogKiller

One picture is worth $8,000 which is what this darn thing has cost..conservatively.
Maverick VP 600mm barrel, JSB Match Diabolo Exact King MKII Heavy .25 Cal, 33.95 Gr, 890fps, 120 yards. #2 reg 124bar, Transfer port on P, Huma Slug probe, #7 on the dial, Trigger Cam on gun but some fool forgot to turn it on so ... video is after the fact. If you look at the one of it on its side, on the top of the shoulder at the base of the neck. I watched for this little sucker for an hour and it finally popped up a few times. And of course a pic of the mighty hunter with his trophy. One shot of the distance of this, my friend Pete is over to the right of the entrance, at the end of the gray log. It was actually poking up above the log, It sort of sounded like I hit it but it just fell over, like you see in the first pic

Fatboy 2.0 with extention issue

I'm running an Air Venturi .25 . I'm shooting jsb hades 26.54 gr pellets in-between 870fps -850fps.
So I've shot this with the Tanto and now the Fatboy. It's shooting tighter groups (out to 60yds) no point of impact shift when changing from one to the other.
Here is the issue bought the fatboy extension got it on today and wow really quiets the gun down..... But at 20 yds I have a 2 in drop, tight group, but 2 inches is alot I'm assuming the weight is causing the shroud to droop.
Is there a fix ie another barrel band ? Or just leave the extension off?

Adjustable Trigger Troubles?

Friends, I have an air arms pro sport in 177 cal. She has been an amazing and accurate shooter and only to get better by the work from nitro crusher. I have installed a while back a Rowan adjustable trigger. And I had no trouble with it in regards to adjustment and/or the PS's accuracy.

But a few days ago I felt the shoe move a little bit in the different direction so I took the trigger guard off readjusted it tightened it back up reinstalled the trigger guard and went back to shooting the same way I always do and that's off bucket and sticks.

Upon my first couple shots they were all over the place at 25 yards where it's usually grouping moa. So what little bit of hair I have left I was pulling it out wondering what happened. So I made sure my stock screws are tight my scope rings were tight. I haven't dropped my rifle, I haven't bumped the scope, nothing.

So while adjusting the trigger shoe to where I felt comfortable I tightened it back up again and it started grouping just a little bit better. Then I was wondering is it because the position of the trigger shoe while shooting. Meaning every time I made an minute adjustment to the shoe itself in very small increments my groups opened up dramatically. When I say dramatically I am saying like an inch to a inch and a half and not even close to my point of impact.

So my question is will the adjustment of turning the trigger shoe from left to right in minute small increments will it affect my actually that greatly? And if that is so, why? And again if that is so what is there to be done about it? Because my last two groups that I shot today it seemed like it had to settle in for some odd reason and maybe that's the case. But it seems like it changed how light I have to hold it now the whole rifle while it's in the sticks. It seemed like it also changed the pressure of my cheek weld. I'm really at a loss to the point where I wanted to beat her against the tree but I felt better of it wiped her down and put her away. Any and no help will be greatly appreciated.

Returning foreign-made Asscssories

I got a real education about returning items purchased on Ebay, as I was shopping for a stock for my Crosman 1322.

My first choice was the AR package from Buck Rail. But their key component - the AR lower was OOS. So I purchased a "special" aluminium stock from a firm in Germany for $54.

Then I discovered a cheaper plastic stock domestically. Buyer's regret set in and I decided to order the plastic one and then send back the aluminium one.

The German stock arrived on Wednesday. It weighed as much as the pistol. I informed Ebay of my desire to return the part. Permission was instantly granted and a return number and address were provided. I was instructed to obtain my own shipping label.

Yesterday I shopped for a shipper. My first choice was UPS. Their cheapest shipping rate for 1.4 lbs to Germany was $305. USPS's was hard to determine but it seemed to start at $50 for International 1st class.

Lesson learned.

P.S.

When I attempted to return a SIG P-226 air pistol I discovered that the do not accept refund returns, only warranty returns. I ended up repairing the broken one myself.

Nice fat groundhog!

20230609_184729.jpg
played cat & mouse with this guy the past 2 days. Missed him yesterday at 125 yds, this afternoon i seen him from my porch and tried to get closer, not sure what spooked him but when i got to where i wanted to be he was gone. Go back to my porch swing and half hour later there he is, make another attempt and a car comes by and spooks him, go back to my perch and he reappears, this time he sees me and runs, i stay there for 30 minutes and nothing, i finally give in and retreat only to get back to my lookout and there he is. This time i take a different approach and make it to the tree i want to shoot from, he is quartering away hard so i take aim at the back of his ribs and send it. Entered just in front of left hind leg, he rolls down the hill and by the time i reached him he was taking his last so i gave him a final between the eyes. 77 yd shot, FX Wildcat mkl .25 cal shooting FX 33.95 ammo. Thanks for looking.

Looking for the elusive tune

Unable to get to the range today, I setup my rifle, rests, remote trigger and Triggercam in my kitchen looking out the window. Watching my reticle for movement at 32X dry firing with the remote trigger showed only the slightest movement, a fraction of the center dot reticle which I believe is .1 mil, so a fraction of .1 mil. If I held onto the bottle I saw absolutely no movement, so perhaps another set of rubber bands for the front rest.

I’m going to be shooting roughly 19 different pellets and slugs at fifty yards measuring velocity at the current regulator setting (145 BAR as measured by a HUMA regulator testing gauge) and noting precision. Once I find a few that are showing reasonable precision I will then do another test at various hammer spring settings. As the group of pellets gets smaller I will test those at various regulator settings tweaking the hammer spring tension to see if I can improve the precision.

Slugs after the baseline test will most likely have to be tested at various regulator and hammer spring settings, so I’ll be spending a great deal of time at the range looking for the elusive tune for a select group of projectiles.

I may end up with different hammer weights or springs and likely try the adjustable HUMA regulator. Some have said the RAW regulator holds or is more consistent than the HUMA, but because the HUMA is a bit smaller it offers a bit more plenum volume. I’m not sure it is enough to be significant, but I also will test the latest HUMA regulator to see if indeed the RAW regulator is more stable.

The good thing there is so much testing ahead of me is it allows me to hold off with another air rifle purchase for the time being. However, looking is not expensive.

0db felt... pull it?

Anyone's 0db poking felt hairs into the chamber? Mine has some after just 10 shots from new out the box (counted 4 fiber strings so far) (was able to focus one of em for pic). My donnyfl's all did this until the whole felt completely blew. I pulled them all out afterwards. But maybe this is normal for 0db...? Should I pull the felt like I did my donny's?

impact m3 valve sometimes wont seat during tuning

Searched for a thread with no luck. My issue is during tuning. Once the V.A is set at 4.5 to 4 lines I have no issues. During tuning with the valve passed 4.5, sometime wont seal once the 1st reg gets to 160-165. First reg set 150 2nd 70. I can just tune til the 1st reg gets to 170 but Im wondering if others have seen this. Closing the valve adjuster stops the leak but just curious what others have found. To me the valve should still close with 70 bar in the plenum and 160 waiting to fill it.

Pellet Thoughts

Well,I Finally got my Xisico .22 underlever from Flying Dragon. I could use some initial guidance on pellets. Mike informed me that the gun likes 5.52, and between 14 and 16 grains. My purpose is hunting/pesting. Your advice is deeply appreciated as I am just starting out, ESPECIALLY if you also own this model of airgun. Thanks in advance, and God bless.

Daystate Red Wolf Owners/experts.... opinions needed....

So been testing this rifle for a week now. Been doing lots and lots of reading. Do theses numbers look a little low?? I been testing all types of pellets. This is what I got up so far. All shots were taken at 50 yards. Also sames the more I shoot it the better it gets look at the first pictures were today's shots at the range at 50 yards. JSB 25.3 RD sames to be the best pellet at high power. I also noticed today I am getting around 70 shots on high power at this settings. I tried low power with the 18.1 but they will not group no matter what I do. Nothing shoots good at mid power either except sometimes the FX 25.3 do ok. Finally want to thank my wife for a great fathers day gift. Yes the rifle is used but it's in great condition just like new. Like I said it's definitely coming together. Thanks for the info.

Today's shots at the range JSB 25.3 RD......

How close to your house before you consider it a pest?

At my place my Jack Russell keeps the squirrels at least 15-20 yards from the house. They don’t come anywhere close when he’s out patrolling. The old chicken barn, where I store my tractor, chainsaw, bicycles, etc. Is funky and I need to update it. The front of the structure is 40 yards, the rear 50 yards away from my deck. Some reds have decided it’s their place, and I haven’t had the heart to permanently evict them, yet. Particularly when they leave me, on occasion a black walnut on the steering wheel of my Kubota.🙈 Or on my chainsaws, etc. The woodchuck that’s been popping out behind the barn?💀 It’s on the hit list, very next opportunity? I’m sending…💥

New pumper in the house

There's a new pumper in the house. Meet my new / old Smith & Wesson model 77A this is a adult size pumper. And built like a tank. The manual says you can pump up to 20 times. So I gave it a test. I haven't shot it yet On the range, but plan on it within the next few days.

Chronographed and tested for velocity today.
Pumps……..Velocity
2…………….260
3…………….347
4…………….376
5…………….409
6…………….469
7…………….503
8…………….532
9…………….549
10……………556
11……………566
12……………573
13.............581
14.............597
16.............615
17.............632
18.............650
19.............671
20.............698

The 77A is significantly easier than a Benjamin or Sheridan on 10 pumps, going to the 20 pump max was easier than expected

The lever arm length from rear of pump arm to the pivot pin on a Benjamin model 317 is 13 inches. On the SW -77A, it measured 18 inches more leverage easier pumping.

New member - Going to be getting a PCP soon. Thoughts?

Hello AN!
New to the updated world of airguns. Used to "play" with Air back in my youth and after being in the firearm world for some time (Tinkering, Building and designing) I wanted to take a stab at something new.
I live in WA state who have cracked down on a lot of gun availability and so far has ignored air.
Wanted some advise and opinions on where to start and what to avoid as to ideas and hardware.

My list of what I want one for is a little long. I know I will need more than one to fit, prob more... then the question of where to start, List is mostly in order of my priorities to meet.

1- Like the idea of power from air. Id at least want to be able to know I can match the power of a 22. I don't hunt but feel drawn to some big bore just because.. not sure why other than its interesting (old) refined cool tech.
2- Like the auto and full auto options. Seems fun and seems something that will go away as laws (sadly) progress.
3- quiet. or semi quiet for backyard/garage use, Moderator and chambers will be my friend.
4- young kids getting into guns and training for use. I like the idea of less noise with them at least at first. Lets them concentrate on form, safety and use. I want a real gun used and not airsoft BS.
5- target accuracy.
6- some tinkering/modifications (after getting up to speed on how/what works). I can 3d print near anything I find or design so guns with a flowing around that would be great.
7- want a good value. IE I'm not cheap, I want to save where I can. But I don't want to wish I spent more later as will cost me more down the road. Used is for sure an option for me if practical. I don't need the "best", but I want the best option for me.

what I have in my head as contenders is also a wide angel as per the above. Not all fit every aspect but want to group them in best I can.
- Western rapter 357(SEMI) or .30(FULL)
- Western Sidewinder (any cal) BTW anyone know if the barrels are caliber changeable and if so cost effective?
- Hatsan Blitz 30 (power, full then another low cal for quiet and kids, etc)
- Daystate xxx Wolf (midddle road, do most)
- EDGUN LESHIY 2 ($$ no full but ticks most)
- FX Maverick (understood these were cal trappable with barrels at a reasonable price).
-Tiapan Veteran (middle road, do most)
- Rainson Edge (meets a lot of the above and cheapish. Allows a bigger bore or auto to be bought too like blitz)
- CRICKET II TACTICAL 60(Ticks a lot as well)

So with any of that, what would you say to be aware of, migrate towrd or away from and what to watch out for.
Any other options one would point me to?

My Prophet 3 is on its way, with a twist

Today I got a text from Francisco and he told me my Prophet Performance Compact - 3 (or is it, Prophet 3 Performance Compact?) 🧐

Anyways, I just looked and it should be here on 12 June (my birthday) and I opted to go with the 22 cal version. I figure for the short term I will find it a bit better than the 177, and later I get a barrel. The BRK Ranger I have in 22 covers the bottom power end.

Once it arrives I will post some photos then go down the review rabbit hole and etc. I will also do a review on my channel.

Air Arms XTi50

Hi guys, I'm wondering has anyone heard any whispers about what dealers in the US will be getting the XTi50 once it becomes more readily available? I tried ordering direct from the UK but suppliers are reluctant to export it, the "usual" Air Arms dealers I spoke to over here have all either said they don't know if they are going to get it or when they will get it, one reputable air arms dealer even told me they weren't even aware of such a model from air arms! I have tried to contact air arms directly but my emails, tweets, and DM's have all gone ignored/unanswered. I want to part with my hard earned cash for this rifle but it seems no one wants to take it lol.
