I absolutely love my dreamtac compact and I have so far changed it more times I could count with different barrels, stock, grips, scopes but eventually I’m back to almost factory setting because I just love the compact design and the light weight. Plus I shoot low power in the back yard so no need for big and bulky anything. Decided to weight it and it’s just over 7lbs scoped which had me thinking, the reason I love it so much is all because how light it is so how do I get it to be even lighter? For reference from factory it’s 5.6lbs so I came up with a goal of sub 6lbs scoped and ready to shoot.

Dug in my airgun cabinet and found a cheap Barra 3-9x scope that weights 14.5 oz, paired that with a set of light weight rings from amazon AND taking off the factory rail and I had savings of about 1lb! Yes! Then I replaced the Mission first adjustable AR stock with 3D printed stock, another 3oz saved! 3D printed moderator, another 4oz saved!

Finally, I was eyeing the should that was covered in camo tape and wondered to myself how can I replace it with carbon tube to save some weight. After stripping the tape the shroud came in at 56 gram which is pretty light but I like carbon so off to amazon I went. With some trials and errors I made a carbon tube shroud with 3D printed ends that weights in at a svelte 35 grams or 21 grams of weight saving!!! Plus I integrated the annoying spacer at the end into the end piece of the shroud, was going to make the shroud shorter but decided to add 5mm to make sure all moderators will clear the air tube. Yes, I got rid of the power plenum too.


In case anyone ask why anyone would waste money and time to save 21 grams the reason is simply, because I can and it’s fun!

After some minor figment/alignment issues it is shooting well and the shroud feels a lot stiffer. I like the look of matte carbon, very happy over all but think I want a better scope. Mostly likely will get an immersive 10x24 scope which has the possibility of saving even more weight with right mount.

I bought the rifle to shoot slugs, I am going to test it out tomorrow some more at 100 yards but I am still interested in having an unchoked, .22 fast twist rate barrel drummed up for this rifle as it is really the cats ass.

I had left my Maverick 22 Sniper sit for a spell while I played with my new Compact 25. I was asked to test some 30 gr, 22 slugs from a local producer. While trying to tune the gun lost a lot of power somehow.
I had it tuned to 160/128 and the IHS @ 5.55 mm with a hammer weight of 11.8 grams ( 11 with spacer) and was shooting NSA 27.5’s @ 960.
Now all I can get out of the gun is 830 fps with the 27.5 slugs. I have gone back to my original tune and get in the low 820’s. I have increased the tune to 165/140 and 6mm on the IHS and can get 830 by messing with the IHS.
i am stumped on what could be wrong. I double checked that the slug port on the barrel was being used, swapped gauges with my other Maverick. Both are the same brand digital gauge and they read the same pressures.
I am tapped out on my knowledge and skills. I have considered a full disassembly but am not sure I have the skills to go through that process.
Does anyone have a thought as to where the problem may be?
The next step is to send it to Utah Air Guns for repair.

I recently purchased a Maverick that came with the Wika guages. It was set to and read 125 on the regulator gauge.
That back gauge is so tiny I could barely read it and installed a Sekhmet gauge this morning. It reads 114 bar.
The rifle shoots exactly the same with both. Are Wika gauges that far off on a regular basis?
I'm assuming, maybe incorrectly, that the Sekhmet is more likely to be the correct one.

Is it just me, or did what gets shown on general post change? It seems to me the number of posts has diminished since the upgrade. Could it be people are confused by the new layout! Just curious.

Also seen as cocking which is not on the naughty list or cocked which may be on the naughty list, I’ll know when I post this lol.) is a very commonly used word, and I don’t think it’s gonna be used as a dangerous word here! I could be wrong and AGN has a meltdown though.

Purchased two of these recently - very impressed with both except for one issue....
the power of them seems weak (one is way weaker than the other). I get lots of shots per fill. I don't have access to a chronograph.
I tried adjusting the power knobs but on both rifles, it will not go to the max position (and it needs pliers to turn it at all). It creeps back to the 3/4 power indicator on both rifles.

One of the rifles seems reasonable in power (enough to kill small game) and the other is lobbing them in at 25 yards with very little pop on impact.
Neither seems right though because I am getting A LOT of shots per fill.

Help?!! I am supposed to be hunting iguanas in Puerto Rico and I am not confident these are shooting powerful enough for that at this time.
