Drives me ****ing Crazy when manufacturers...

Drives me ****ing crazy when manufactures will post a max fps or fpe for a certain pcp but don't include the weight of the slug / pellet they used to come up with those numbers. Also, when they don't state if it's available unchoked. Trying to compare different rifles and just annoyed, hard to get apples to apples comparison

Introducing my Bro-in-law to airgunning!

After about 7 years of relating airgun stories to my brother in law he finally accepted my invitation yesterday to see what I've been talking about. He's very recently retired & looking for things to fill the hours. I loaded up everything we'd need for some target shooting & took him to one of the permissions I'm privileged to have. I set up targets at 50 & 75 yards & decided to let him start off with my FX Royale 500 (.25) knowing what an easy gun it is to shoot ACCURATELY even for a novice. Had 4 guns with me thinking he'd want to try all (FX Bobcat .22, Royale .25, Boss .30 & a borrowed Edgun Matador .22). I sighted in the Royale for him @ 50 and, as always, the 1st shots were straight through the dime sized bullseye. Showed him how to load magazine & how to make sure he didn't double feed pellets. The rifle was on a Caldwell dead shot pod (makes it easier for a newb). Within the 1st hour he got a great feel for what he & the gun could do. After that he only wanted to try for the 75 yd targets (paper & 3" steel gongs). He had an absolute blast, went through more pellets than I think I've EVER gone through in one sitting but refused to try any other gun. He was thrilled sticking with the Royale. All in all it was a great 2.5 hours & the smiles, laughs & male bonding was priceless! I think we just might have another airgun convert!

FX  FX problems

This is not to hate FX this is just to question the build of a gun?
The Impact has been sold for what 10 years or more ? Why is there still a POI problem..
And I have been told but this gun wins all the titles, Well to me that's like saying Honda wins the Indy 500 , I own a Honda mine will not win the Indy 500,,, Maybe a bad example but you get the point,,
Now I am still pissed at RTI, They sold me a Prophet 2 compact with a different barrel as advertised, Also I had to fix a valve on the NEW gun, RTI did send a valve to fix the problem.
But I still had to fix it !!!
So what is FX doing to fix the POI problem?? Or is FX just saying WHAT PROBLEM?
The Mora is looking real good but RTI burnet me once with the P-2 Not jumping on that new gun just yet,,
I have been in this sport a long time I am just not used to working on a new gun to get it fixed right..
Maybe I should just stick with my Crickets,Vulcans, Mutants , and Uragans ?
When the Marauders 1st came out I bought one, welcome to the PCP world, anyway super accurate 25 caliber with a G barreal, If I set that gun down went to lunch it would be 2 " off target, Sight it back in, Put it up for the night next day it would be 1 " off target, The POI drove me nuts with that gun , Yes I bought all the barreal bands when they came out helped but never really fixed the POI change,, But sight it in and it opened my eyes to shooting flies at distance , Put an order in for a new 22 Cricket and had to wait 6 months , End of POI problem , Now this is back when company's stopped caring FX products as they were overwhelmed with warranty work, 99.5 % of the guns came back for work, I am pretty sure that was mostly the Impacts ..

N/A  HAMMER SPRING TENSION method for documenting

Hello
Before making any adjustments I’d like to know:
On PCPs with hammer spring adjustment screws is there a preferred method for measuring/documenting the adjustment?
To clarify
Would it be the number of turns from the screw all the way in (spring max compression), or from the screw backed out as far as it can go?

Thanks
Edward

HW/Weihrauch  Scopes - new to break barrel rifles.

Greetings-I have been taking my time and learning about air guns reading your posts. I come from shooting sporting clays and hand guns. My first purchase is a HW 50s which I have now shot about 150 pellets through. I have noticed most of the names for scopes that seem to be popular, I am not a hunter, just plinking and casual target shooting, I have a powder burner Anchutz 22 with a Leupold scope, great shooting combination. In contacting Leupold they make a Freedom line of scopes with one. 3-9x33 for .22 and air rifles. Why do I not see more of these being used? Your experienced, knowledgeable thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Fx maverick

Hi all,

I currently own an FX Maverick Sniper .22 with a slug kit. I had the gun set up with 36g slugs, and it was shooting at 960 fps with the first regulator set at 180 bar and the second regulator at 150 bar, with the hammer set to 7. I experienced a slug jam right at the end of the barrel. After struggling to remove the slugs, the gun's fps dropped to 920 fps. I am currently shooting 30g slugs, but I can't get the gun to shoot higher than 960 fps, even after I increased the second regulator to 170 bar. Any advice? Thanks!

FX  Bhaur's analysis of POI shift in FX guns

The POI shift is rather a relative thing.

For casual shooters and most hunters the slight POI shift is not a problem and might not come into their attention, hence they might not notice it.

While for keen precession shooters I mostly find that even a slight POI shift is a big problem.

Then there are again two scenarios. One scenario is this that the shooter always re zero the gun for every new session. Once it's done, there is no issue for that session.

The other scenario is in which the shooter doesn't re zero the gun for a new session. Here the issues and comparisons start.

As per my experience, Royal 400, Royal 500 and Boss keeps the POI as close to any last session as it is possible without the need to re zero the gun.

There are other external factors that can still affect the POI very slightly which are change in humidity, temperature etc. These are constant factors for all kinds of guns and all kinds of barrel systems.

FX liner system is made up of a number of parts i. e. Liner, rear retaining part having transfer port, front retaining nut, outer shell of liner and O rings. These were the parts when the liner system was initially introduced.

Later Ernest Rowe started inserting a carbon fiber tube between the liner and the shell and epoxied it. Definitely this had been done to fix some inherent issues of the liner system which is most probably POI shift.

Later FX also started selling carbon fiber pipes for this purpose.

Even later Ernest Rowe and mny other tuners started tensioning the barrel in FX Impact.

Later FX also started offering it.

So the improvements in the liner system went on and on.

In my experience, the free floating barrel keeps the best POI provided the barrel is solid.

FX makes wonderful liners. When I convert these liners into a solid sturdy barrel, 95% of POI shifts are gone. But then I have to prepare a separate complete barrel in which I cannot replace the liner. For some other liner I make a new complete barrel using that liner.

I am also using some real solid barrels in Impact and get good consistency of POI.

Further the tolerances of each gun are different hence some face more issues than others.

I understand that one of the reasons of keeping the liners inside the cylinder or plenum in Panthera and DRS is to avoid POI shift.

Almost all the PCP models of FX are currently being made on liner system. So changing the liner system means redesigning of all the models of FX as far as the balance of the gun is concerned.

The liners are very accurate but are mostly unsuccessful in creating a consistantly precise and accurate truck gun.

Many users having liner system using the gun in their trucks complain about this issue while similar users of Cricket or RAW do not face this issue.

Benjamin  25 caliber Marauder Range Session

Hello, purchased my 25 Marauder back in February but just recently started to mod/shoot it a little bit.

I added an 18 lb hammer spring from Jefferson State and a hammer denounce device from AOA.

I got the following shot strings in the attached screenshots, using JSB 25.39 and 33.95 with four and a half or five turns in on the hammer spring (wouldn't cock with any more turns in).

Starting pressure was 3000 on both and ending pressure was 2150 on the 25.39 after 23 shots (first shot was a double load). Ending pressure was 2400 on the 33.95 (one shot was a duplicate (790) and was lost during an incoming call while using the chronograph app) so it only shows 15 shots.

Does anyone have shot strings using a bone stock set up using one or both of these pellets?

HW/Weihrauch  Talk me into a Weihrauch HW100

Ever since I got into a PCP 4 years ago, I've always wanted a Weihrauch HW100. When I bought my PCP, I ultimately picked between it and my current gun, the Taipan Veteran. At the time, I picked the Taipan Veteran because it is much shorter even in its long configuration. I love the way the Taipan Veteran look, but I also love the traditional rifle look of the HW100. Given the same choice today, I would still pick the Taipan Veteran first... but now that I have it for a few years now, I still can't get the HW100 out of my head.

The HW100 seems to be well tuned from the factory. What has everyone's experiences with the gun's first shot consistency? I don't mind tuning the gun, but the HW100 looks like I have to disassemble it quite a bit just to get to the hammer and regulator. It would be really nice if it shot close to 30 FPE and have the first shot be on point without me having to touch the gun.

Another concern I have is the anti-double load mechanism. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer to exactly how the anti-double load mechanism in this gun works. A lot of the videos I've seen showing this feature only shows that the anti-double load mechanism works when the gun is already cocked. What I'm concerned about is when I decock the gun, would the mechanism still work? With my Taipan Veteran serving as a standby varmint rifle, I sometimes chamber a round but end up not firing it. I decock the gun with the round still in the chamber and the next time I need to take a shot, I just re-cock it again without having to fiddle with the magazine. Simple. With the HW100 however, I keep reading mixed comments about it. Some people say that decocking the rifle, the magazine will cycle to the next round when it is recocked again. Other say that the anti-double load mechanism will not let it happen even after a decock.

My hang up is if I buy the HW100, it will mostly be for aesthetic reasons. It doesn't serve a different purpose as the Taipan Veteran. I really still love my Taipan Veteran. It does everything I need, it gets 100 shots on the reg at my 32 FPE tune and it is quite accurate. I love the way it looks but I also love the way the HW100 looks.

this vet has some dings in the stock from use and a few scratches around the barrel from removal. It holds air and functions as it should. Comes with 2 mags, single shot tray, and fill probe.

Asking $750 shipped, insured, and packaged well. I prefer PayPal f&f but I will entertain other forms of payment as well. If you want more pics or have any questions let me know.

Jsb 16 grains at 975 fps
Jts 18 grains at 902 fps
10 shots took it from 160bar down to 138.5 bar.
Cocking is smooth, trigger is nice, and it's quiet at those power levels with the factory shroud.

Tuning  JSAR Raptor shoots slugs and pellets

FINALLY found the magic combination for the Raptor .25, could never quite get it to shoot RMR/FX Hybrids well so I figured heck my Maverick VP sends them out at 1004fps so....WHY NOT? Cranked up the regulator a touch and only a touch and OH MY smaller than a dime at 25 yards at 1018fps , shoved in some 33.9 AEA's and they perked along at 939 and dime groups. The only reason the last one with the AEA's was 932 it was falling off of the regulator. Note to self, self...DO NOT MESS WITH THE GUN. Disclaimer, the first two shots in both strings were a touch higher then it settles down so I did cherry pick but still pretty darn awesome. And 60 Ft#'s with the slugs and 65ft#'s with pellets, at the muzzle.

  • Question
What is the BC of FX 50.2 grain pellet

I've looked all over online and I can't find the BC of the FX 30 cal 50.2 grain pellet. I need that to enter in the balistics app of my Arken Zulus. I have the velocity at the bench and at fifty feet. But I don't k ow how to calculate it.
Out of 250mm Edgun
703 fps at the muzzeloaders
678 at fifty feet
Any help is appreciated! I'm not a math wiz.
