Needed/wanted PCP tools?

While looking for an answer in the search function, I noticed a comment about reverse tweezers to make it easier to take out a hard-to-get oring. A little thing but it got me thinking about all the tools I have acquired for this hobby and thought it might be useful, especially for newbies, to compile a list. Please feel free to add.

So, here goes-

Micro scale for pellet weighing in grains
Reverse tweezers
Brass picks for orings
Digital caliper
Small needle nose pliers
Chronograph
SAE and metric Allen wrenches
Phillips screw drivers
Torque wrenches
Cleaning equipment (ie for barrels)
pcp filling equipment (compressor?)
Polishing tools
Clamping scissors
Small brushes
Flashlight
Endoscope for inspection
Bubble levels
Small vise
Air blowing device
Snap ring pliers
Loupe magnifier

FX  Is Fx Crown a worthwhile upgrade from a Dream Lite?

I have a Dreamlite and want to upgrade. I was looking at the M4 but am moving away from it to a Crown. BUT, am I really upgrading in power and accuracy? I bench shoot only and my Dreamlite is super accurate to 50 plus yards. I want to shoot at 75 to 100 so want more power than the dreamlite offers. It looks to me as if the Crown is only minimally any more powerful than the Dreamlite. So the question is whether the Crown is a reasonable upgrade for my purposes? I am only interested in FX guns and do not want to customize one.

Airforce  Saber tactical but stock

So I installed a Saber Tactical adjustable butt stock on my Texan .457 today. I had a concealment solution but stock extender on it that looked great!!!! The butt stock from Saber would not fit on the but stock extender so I had to go with the original Texan but stock and am not impressed with the way it looks, what y'all think? It's been raining here in Louisiana so no shooting it today to see if I like it! It seems like it will be functional as the upper adjusted and actually kinda rest on your shoulder which seems like it will be super helpful at keeping the gun steady. Soon as the weather clears up we shall see!!!!!!

Gamo  Gamo Viper express opinions

Im looking into getting a second hand gamo express for dove hunting here in the southwest.

I do have a 22 pcp but would simply like one for the novelty to use for hunting doves, pigeons, but with the benefit of spread. I would obviously have to reload it with probably 7 1/2 shot as whatever they use is far far too small. It’s a miniscule shot size they use, and I’ve been able to get within at least 10-15 yards often as the birds here are usually full off the corn, oranges, and dates here. But five yards is equal to standing underneath a powerline and shooting like an artillery canon.

The uniqueness to reload ammunition for it is quite nice. That adds options and a way to experiment. Especially since I recently discovered (supposedly) that it has parts compatibility with the gamo whisper so you can swap barrels to have an all in one.

Wondering what ya’ll have or think. Was considering the seneca double shot but Im trying to see this cheaper option versus buying a whole new pcp gun (yet).

  • Question
Projectile bad in short range but good for long?

Hello! I was watching a video on YouTube, and the man said that there are pellets/slugs that perform poorly at close range but perform well at long range, and that they can stabilize with distance.
Is that possible?
Because if a pellet/slug doesn't group well at close range, it will be even worse at long range, since it's already destabilized up close, and this would only get worse with more distance, right?

It’s back!

Season 5 of the Airgunner Challenge is starting September 25 @ 6:30 and 10:30 EST on the Outdoor Channel.

Love what this show does for the industry as a whole. Sharing the love of airguns and the fun with so many NEW and yet to be airgunners every year. It is also crazy how many people I bump into that watch the show. Keep up the great work @American Airgunner!

Are you Ready? American Airgunner Challenge 2024 is Coming!

EDgun  Wanted: PCP recommendations for long-timer springer user

Hey all, as the title reads, I've owned my weihrauch 97k for a little over three years and really enjoy it. I've been thinking about entering the PCP market and have a fairly large budget to drop on a PCP.

Things I like about my springer:
It's (relatively) quiet - does not break the sound barrier.
Accurate within 25 yards.
Ammo is plentiful and cheap.
Low maintenance

Things I don't like:
It's heavy. Not a problem for sitting but standing positions can get cumbersome.
It's not consistent/precise outside of 25-30 yards.
Single-shot makes it impossible to get another shot down range when hunting.

I will be using this gun mainly to hunt and occasional plinking. Form factor and weight/portability are important. Semi-auto would be nice. Tank capacity is not crucial. Range out to 50 yards would be nice.

I have my eyes on the EDgun Leshiy 2 in .22. I will primarily be taking out squirrels. Are there any other brands/models that fit this bill?

Any opinions on compressors? I think I'd prefer this route as compared to hand pumps. Looking for reliability and smaller form factor, keep cost ~$750 or lower.

Thanks all!

Other  Here's a theory that I've developed. Hoping for confirmation...

So, I've been noticing this on MOST, but not all of my springers. For instance, my .22 cal HW 97K is an exception. What I'm seeing is that after I've fired a dozen or show shots from a piston powered gun, the groups begin to tighten up. Now, I understand that this could just be due to me getting warmed up, but here's my theory. I'll bet that it's not a new idea. This must've crossed many an airgunners' mind....
Could it be that the piston seal is heating up during the first few shots and that once its become more pliable, it forms a more consistent seal? It just seems to make sense to me that this would be the case. However, as I've already mentioned, my 97K is one of the few piston guns that I own which always seems to shoot point of aim no matter how long between shooting sessions, so.....
What are your thoughts...?

Noob Question Incoming....

Please forgive my ignorance, I have never seen optics like the one I just saw and I honestly didn't even know the technology was available..? So, I just watched a video where the shooter was using an optic made by ATN Corp. and.... I mean, I'm still speechless. I know, it's embarassing... I feel so old rn. But he shot a group and then (I'm guessing here) put it into like a zeroing mode, which then allowed him to move a secondary X-hair to the intended target, hit "Enter" (or something akin) and VIOLA! Zeroed. Needless to say I'm immediately on the hunt to find one, only to realize these things are way out of my tax bracket. So, my question to the fine folks here at AGN Forums, is:

1) Is there any other manufacturers that make an optic with a similar zeroing system?
2) If so, do any of them offer up said optics for less than $200-300?
3) Is there a similar zeroing system on an optic that does NOT include night-vision? (I'm thinking the NV adds a significant amount to the cost and rn I just don't need it)

Thank you all in advance. And again, apologies for noob questions.

Am I the only one who hates BKL rings?

I was changing scopes on my AR Challenger HFT and started using BKL rings against my better judgement, and couldn't get the base to tighten, it had galled in the aluminum and was no going any further. I took it out and lubed it and proceeded to round off the socket head trying to tighten it. I had already pinched them in til they would barely fit on the dovetail, and when I rounded off the socket, they were almost tight. Thankfully, I was able to use an easy out and get the ring loose enough to slide off, but what a p*ss poor way of doing things. I think I have three or four sets of them, so if anyone wants them, they can have them. I'm sick of this happening.

OK, that's my rant for the day, I feel better.
