Advice sought on an entry level 10M air pistol

I have a couple of friends looking to try 10M air pistol in our local league, Unfortunately, although I've been shooting 10M air pistol a LONG time, I haven't stayed current on what model air pistols are available/ good for someone getting started.
It used to be any Daisy 717/747/777, Gamo Compact or IZH46 would get you into the sport without breaking the bank.
These days I see all three of those models are discontinued and commanding ridiculous $ when I do see one on the used market.
So far what I am seeing (in my initial search) is the Air Ventury V10 and Crossman 2300S as potentials. ( Either benefiting from a trigger job of course)
Any experience/ advice on these or other suitable options in the $200-500 range appreciated.
Thanks!

N/A  Getting the best of each PCP.

Not all scopes are for all PCP's.

I have learned that in order that you can get absolutely comfortable with each rifle you have to mount on it an appropriate sight, a scope or a red dot sight.

How heavy you feel the rifle is really important for the use you want to give to such PCP.

No matter if the rifle is a top liner, expensive or a budget one. You need to feel absolutely comfortable when you shoulder it. And the scope or red dot sight that you decide to put on top has an extremely important rol.

So.... Don't you dare to think that just because you have a super rifle and you bought a super scope, the rifle will feel really well... You will have to try if the final feeling is the one you are happy with.

N/A  Where can I find a coil spring or type 2 gas piston for a frankenstein project?

Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum. Just having a hard time finding anyone but such and such *Insert Company Here*
That's all fine. But I am looking for other sources. As more is better.
So share some links.
I also need help on having a custom piston seal made for an air rifle. Or any DIY knowledge.
This one has stumped me for some time now.
Hoping some of the experienced guys would chime in with some knowledge.
I am not adverse to making something.
Or even hiring out a legit air gun mechanic if I fear stepping out of my skill level.

Scope recommendations for my HW97K

Hi everyone! New member here checking in. I've been lurking here for a while as I recently purchased a new HW97k. I'd like to hear some recommendations on scopes from you guys. I'm just planning to target shoot and some pest control. I'd like the scope to be SFP with a IR, pretty good clarity, and definitely durable to handle the recoil. This will probably get shot a lot to take care of some rats in the area.(y)

Pellet Trap

I have a city lot so shooting outside is not an option. I do shoot paper targets in my basement at 10 meters.
I was looking at the Sig Sauer Quad metal target trap for indoor use in the basement.
Has anyone had any experience with this pellet trap? And if so, I have a few questions on this pellet trap.
Would this pellet trap work well at 10 meters?
Do the pellets ricochet out or bounce back out of the trap often when hitting the target?
How often do the targets need to be replaced? How long do they last? Do they sell replacements?
Good build quality?
Does the reset function work well?
Thanks!

Need help with medical issue

Good day all! I have a very unusual need.

Briefly....I'm 65. When I was 14 I was shot in the right leg with a Sheridan Silver Streak 5mm pump. The pellet lodged behind the femur just above the knee. Doctor said best to leave it where it was, Fast forward 51 years to 2024. I blew my right knee almost two years ago. Upon x-ray they saw the pellet (I had forgotten). For 2 years they have refused to do an MRI due to the pellet. Without the MRI the best they can do for me is gel injections. To my knowledge it is all lead and shouldn't be a problem.

Since I had a successful abdominal MRI last year I convinced the hospital to screen my knee for approval. They have approved and I'm scheduled for 11/15. They want me to try to find the projectile type and bring it so they can test it. That's the only way they can be 100% sure there will be no "problems" during the MRI. It was the Sheridan 5mm pellet in the yellow plastic can of 500. I just need 1 pellet. Is there any route I can take to get one 5mm pellet that hasn't been produced in decades? If there is a source that can provide I'm willing to pay for it or even return it after the 15th. If it sounds like I'm begging that's about the size of it.

I have contacted Sheridan. They were sympathetic but told me the company had changed hands in the past and all old stock was long gone.

Thank you guys for your time. Any advice would be appreciated. Anybody undergo a MRI with a lead projectile?

Other  A couple of my modded rifles from the UK.

I know you guys will probably think what's the point as you can run as many ft lb as you can get out of your guns but being limited unless you jump through so many hoops for a firearms' licence we are stuck with making the best of it, anyway I bought myself an Alpha Wolf about a year ago and proceeded to mess with it to get it to where it should be, and it works pretty well not perfect but good enough...for now, i also recently acquired a Remex Ixia/Throne project and did my usual mods that u use on the Turkish rifles IE SSD change of reg pressure and numerous little mods just to make it feel a little better, so a couple of pics.

FX  zan .25 33gr

hi all im new here so go easy
i have a new m4 sniper 700mm barrel 1.24 twist rate and received 6 free boxes of zan .25cal 33grain and was wondering if anyone has an impact similar and what speeds they are having the most success .reg pressures and fps and will they be accurate at 100 yards

Hatsan  The “0” Ring Wiggle

IMG_0765.jpeg

Apparently my lack of FPS was due to a missing “0” ring.
I replaced it with one that came with the gun (Flash RQE). My question: is it normal to have wiggle space?! Looks like 2 “0” rings could fit?

Also when I dry fired to release air pressure it started leaking from the rear when it got down to 20 or so pounds. Is this normal? I was told to always leave about 75lbs of PSI in the gun. This is my first time to depressurize the pew-pew.

Thanks in advance dudes

Same FPE Different Caliber?

So I have been thinking and wondering how 2 different calibers stack up against each other but setup to achieve the same FPE. So let's say a .22 at 20FPE VS a .25 at 20FPE would the 25 smack harder because of the slightly larger size or is the .22 going to be smacked harder because it may he going faster technically. Wondering if anyone has tried this it doesn't have to be this FPE specifically but thinking about running a low power .25 for some backyard stuff and was curious how it would differ from a similar setup just in .22. Thank you all

Pneumatic fly swatter - calling out to subscriber!

I am hoping Subscriber chimes in on this...

A fly has been getting too much of my attention today and evaded my efforts to get it with conventional weapons (half-assed attempts to swat it while trying to focus on my work, that is). After too many hours of cursing and swatting at the thing, I solved the problem with one judiciously timed dry fire of the pp700.

Using an air burst to swat a fly brought some experiences to mind one from a visit to the children's science and industry museum and one with a gizmo in my classroom.

At the museum they had what was more or less an aimable barrel in some kind of support structure with a large elastic membrane at one end and a specially designed lip at the other. They had a fog generator as well and you could fill the barrel with fog, pull back the membrane via a handle, and release it to blow a perfect smoke ring that traveled very long distances while retaining its structure. It enabled you to hit someone with a blast of air at comical distances.

I got a small one for my classroom - you could shoot it at one end, and a second or so later the blinds would be hit by a small focused vortex of surprising intensity.

The ring made visible by the smoke is called a torroidal vortex as I understand it and my question to subscriber (and any who know of such things) is: is it possible to / can you help me conceive of a muzzle device that could turn an airgun into a precision fly-stunning vortex launcher? Starting small - say a pp700 with a .177 barrel. This is NOT about silencing anything (other than flies) so honorable moderators, please allow this thread to fly.
