N/A  Help on selecting first air rifle

New to the air rifle world and looking for the quietest, best PCP rifle for the money with an emphasis on quiet. Will be used on 4 acres for target shooting and small game very rarely. I come from the precision rifle match shooting world (10 years ago) so I understand centerfire rifles and ballistics. Looking forward to trying out the airguns and seeing how far they can shoot! Budget is 1,000-2,000 without a scope. Thanks ahead of time for all the info.

K&F Concept Mini Tripod

This is not an in depth review but more of my take on this little tripod as I have been using it for the past few days.

I originally got this tripod to shoot off the hood of the car, along with trying out shooting prone, and shooting while I sit as I have many opportunities to do so.

Things I like:

It's really small, portable and lightweight, the legs are twist locking, and it is very stable for such a small tripod, and it has 3 adjustable angles.

When the legs are extended they are very secure as long as you make sure that you twist lock them correctly.

There is zero wobble to this tripod and it has an adjustable post that can give you extra height or bring you lower to the ground.

Things I don't like:

It will not support the weight of any rifle in rhe 23⁰ angle position, even if the legs are fully extended, no matter how compact the rifle is or where it is centered, it simply is too short and will want to tip in which ever direction it is heaviest. (The other 2 angle adjustmentd work just fine).

The adjusting knobs aren't too small, but they definitely aren't big enough. Not to say that you need to crank it down to be secure for all weight but when you want to put say a 10lb gun you need the extra grip and force.

The ball head I find to be too small and weak, this issue is also worsened by the adjustment knob not being being enough to tighten properly. With guns like my Uragan 2 600mm .177 with an Arken SH4, the rifle  NEEDS to be centered, otherwise it is too much weight on the ballhead and the rifle will tilt back and not stay in place. Also make sure that the back of the gun is in line with one of the legs for proper balance.

It takes time to set this up, idk if I simply set my expecting high given the ease of using a bipod, but it takes me about 3-4 times as long as it would to set up a bipod.

All in all, this tripod has it's quirks, and if you want to shoot this from specific positions it will work very well, just be ready to take some time to set up. A lot of my shooting as y'all know is on the spot, I don't have time to set up and wait most of the time. In a few of my areas I can set it up and use it to pan and quickly lock it in for a shot which is very nice.

I will also say that for what I originslly wanted to try which was shooting off the hood of the car, it worked beautifully!

Just dont expect to be able to do everything like I did. Haha, I will likely be keeping this, and also be getting and ARCA bipod and swap between the two

@L.Leon

Ps: I know I took more pictures but I'm not sure what happened to them.

PCP Rifle  SOLD .177 Hatsan AT-44 Long $190 for gun or $325 package

Hatsan AT44 Long .177cal

As it's set right now shooting 10.3 AEA pellets 880-900 for about 35 shots before any velocity change, and it shoots them perfectly, I typically don't refill until about 50 shots. At close range it doesn't effect velocity much.
IMG_20250323_201801969.jpg

The top middle and right hand side are all aea 10.3 10 shots groups

25y

If you want to shoot slugs..
I can set it to shoot 13.5 Varmint knockers anywhere from 20-26fpe. You'll only get about 17± shots per fill at that velocity consistently before it falls off (25fpe) but, it shoots them very well, best of any slug at that power level.
IMG_20250323_152037385.jpg

10 shots groups of vk13.5 at 907-930

25y

At the pellet setting it at right now, it can shoot mk 3 jsb knockout pretty well. Not as good as the pellets.
The gun also shoots cphp 7.9 very well. But, those are about to change unfortunately being replaced by rebranded gamo 7.6gr hps..
Baracuda Match and Baracuda 8 shoot very well. JSBs are OK but not the best in this gun.

The gun is equipped with a 23" barrel, 230cc 200bar air cylinder, bipod, and discover FFP ht scope. 2 magazines.

Asking 325 shipped. For everything.

If you want just the gun, $190 shipped. Not, beautiful. But it shoots very well.

Sighted in

Got my .25 avenge x sighted in this afternoon. Just used a tune off this forum for 25.3's. Haven't fine tuned it yet so I'm sure it will tighten up some. I didn't set up my ProChrono today. I'll work on that tomorrow. That's at 35 yds. Not bad for not being fine tuned. I'm going to enjthis gun and dialing in my pert tune. Thanks for the info shared with me on this site.

Recommend me a new gun

Long time lurker, first time poster….

I’ve got an AGT Vulcan 2 (.25) a Xisico CO2 gun (.22) and a multi pump from my childhood.

Now I’m looking for a lightweight, traditional (non-bullpup) PCP rifle for backyard plinking and rodents.

I love the accuracy, power and trigger of my Vulcan 2, but would like something a little lighter.

I love the lightweight, easy to maneuver nature of my CO2 gun but want a bit more power.

Can the brain trust suggest any possible candidates for me to get the best of both?

Open to .177, .22 or .25.

Thanks for looking and thanks for the wonderful site!

PCP Rifle  NLA Daystate DeltaWolf .25

****SOLD***

***Please call or text me, I’m not constantly checking my PM or emails but my phone is always next to me, so I can respond right away.***

602-489-8828

Up for sale is my DeltaWolf in .25 cal.
Condition is like new. I’ve take it out of the box twice to shoot about 3 mags worth of pellets.
This DeltaWolf was upgraded with the Ultra Valve at AoA before I picked it up new so it’s pretty much the same as a Performance DeltaWolf minus the Arca Rail and gecko grip.

Comes with the factory case, factory shipping box, 2 battery chargers, 2 magazines, extended foster fitting an extra HUMA REG and a couple extra breech orings and factory paperwork. The gun is obviously still under full warranty. Scope and rings not included.

Paid close to 3k after the Ultra Valve upgrade and tax 6 months ago.
The gun shoots beautiful. It’s currently set for the 34grn JSB at 905 fps laser accurate. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it and not a single mark or scratch. I’m just not shooting it due to lack of time.
Asking $2200 shipped inside the continental US.
Sorry but not interested in trades. I don’t have the time to shoot. Might consider a trade for a Leshiy 2 in .22 cal. just cause I can carry around with me in the truck.

PayPal, Venmo or Zelle are accepted.

Giving Away Used Gear

I have been shooting Airguns for a little under 5 years and have amassed everything from crosman 2240 magnum spring sets to every shape of paintball regulator and size of scope mount. This is not a brag, more an admission of a tinkerer that doesn’t spend money on alcohol any moer but effectively pours it down the drain all the same.

Anywho, Does it come off insulting to give away old gear?

I don’t find the hassle of resale outweighs the *possible* need of something from my horde but if I see someone that could use it more than me, I’ll gladly rid myself of it before asking for monetary compensation.

Traditional Rifle  SOLD Air Arms TX200 III HC Air Hunter Carbine .177 Walnut [updated]

The forearm has a couple of small compression marks and two marks on the top of the action where the scope rail was mounted—both shown in photos. Comes with the original box and manual. It has either the Tinbum or Vortek kit installed, but I don't recall which one at this time.

I also have another TX200 stock that is equally nice but has a different grain. The buyer will have the option to choose either stock.

Question for the backyard plinkers

Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a good day. I’m mostly a backyard plinker. In my city, there’s a city code that requires everyone living in the city limits must have a rock/cement wall in their backyard. My yard measures 25 yards wide. I was curious what you all are using for a backstop (if you use one). I need some ideas. Thanks in advance.

D-Lead heavy metal hand soap

Typically when I do a lot of tuning (handling lead projectiles) I use a nitrile glove to limit my exposure. Recently, during some higher velocity testing into my indoor pellet trap, I noticed a significant amount of lead dust gathering on my bench in between the muzzle and the chronograph. It got me thinking, and I finally decided to purchase some special soap. This stuff is supposed to remove heavy metals from the skin, so I figured... why not!

Squirrel hunting preparation advice

Hello all,

I am settled in at the farm here, and got out to do some deer hunting last fall and I actually got one, which was a nice change of pace, usually I don't see any deer. While I was out there, I saw a lot of fox squirrels. I had seen one or two in the past but was under the impression there were not many. I want to get back there in the fall looking for Stewie, as all squirrels are named, indicating their final destination, but will need a little practice and knowledge before then. My Taipan Short in .25 cal is zipping 25 grain JSBs along at just under 900 fps. I haven't warmed up to the scope that is on there, and I think I am going to put my Westhunter FFP IR 3-12x on it.

What do you experienced squirrel hunters use for a zero? I know shots can vary from quite close to as far as one can responsibly take a shot. Do you zero closer and hold over for longer shots? Zero in the middle and hold over/under as needed?

Do any of you use shooting sticks, or just field positions, sit against/lean on trees, etc?

Any advice on how to get my hold over right when shooting up into the trees? Things you do to practice?

Other advice to a beginner squirrel hunter would be appreciated.

Thank you,
-pg

Umarex  Notos .22 / FX STX Liner / Nate Chrony Issues

I am having an issue, I use the new Nate Chrony, and it seems that after every 15-20 shots the velocity starts to drop and eventually I get a notification that the sensors need to be cleaned. Sure enough, clean chrono sensors with s cotton swab and run a couple of patches through the barrel liner, and it's already dirty. Once cleaned it goes back to accurate readings.

Any idea why this would be happening? Using JSB or Diablo 18.3 grain pellets. Are these "dirty"? Can I use a brass brush in this liner to clean also? Haven't done anything except patched with Balsrol cleaner and dry patches so far.

This does not happen with my Zelos .25, so I am at a loss for why this is happening with a brand new liner on my Notos?

All suggestions appreciated as usual!
