Huben  Anyone using the Huma GK1 regulator

Just curious if anyone is familar with these. I have a .22 GK and am not a big power guy, nor do I shoot slugs. If I could get two full magazines with a nice consistent, low ES shooting around 750 fps (maybe even a bit lower) with 16g pellets I would seriously consider it. I'm supposing that without a plenum it's not going to be very practical except at very low power. I'm also concerned about the regulator refresh rate. And then of course, it's pretty pricey.

HW/Weihrauch  Airmasters master sport

I picked up ahw80 full length few weeks ago
What drew me to the rifle was the stock among other things , it a long stroke and a mk1 . But it has a airmasters mastersport stalker stock on it . Very well used and a bit knocked about . Going to rebuild the rifle with the skill of nick Simmons a reduced cylinder conversion . and I’m doing a sympathetic restoration on the stock . It will be reblued to . Nice project . Lovley bit of wood on this one , removed the majority of dents but left in the usage marks that a 40 year old stock picks up during it journey. Some way to go but should be nice

Effect of altitude and temperature on pellet speed

Long story short, been trying to finalize my TX200 setup for the WFTF Worlds in few weeks

Ran 50 shots of 8.64 pellets over the chrony giving 780 fps avg @55 degrees F, yielding 11.68 ft lbs. Shot that string at 4500 ft ASL

Now I'm a bit panicked.

Phoenix is at 1086 ft ASL, Im at 4500 ft. The usual number given for Springers at different altitudes is 1.5% change for every 1000 ft gained or lost. So in my case that a 5.2% increase in efficency going to the lower altitude. Strelok Pro also says I can expect 3.7% change in every 15 degrees of temp--but it doesn say if thats an increase or decrease. Checked for the average Novemember temp in Phoenix. 75ish degrees. Rounding off for easier math., thats 7.4% change based on 55 to 80 degrees change.

One thing I cant calculate is the effect of air drag in the thicker air at the lower altitude.

And really not wanting to switch to a heavier pellet this close to the match......

If it were any other match, Id just beg out and not go. But this is most likely the only Worlds match I'll ever attend, and Ive paid for everything except gas already. Dont want to get there and be over the 12 ftlbs before even starting to sight in......

My questions are.... Am I over thinking it? meaning, the math will work out and i'll still be legal. If not, then what are some options to keep it legal at the speeds and altitude I think the gun will be performing in?

much thanx in advance

FWB  UPS brought a really big box today.

Typical AOA service. I bought this like new in box used Feinwerkbau 800 last week. It arrived seriously over packed in an outer box that honestly would have fit two of the very large styrofoam lined boxes these things come in. Typical Feinwerkbau Same hole accuracy and the best triggers on earth. Beg, borrow or steal to get one of these at some point in your life. You won’t regret it. You could even get away with a hand pump as they use very little air.

Smooth twist barrels. Revolutionary new barrels.

Ok ran into this commercial. Yes I know it's old but it talks about how the smooth twist barrels are revolutionary compare to other barrels cause it doesn't have rifling all the way. It's smooth so the pellets glides like a hot knife in butter. Giving maximum speed, Reducing fraction and increase BC. Then the last 4 inches or so it hits the rifling giving it the correct twist for each caliber. It reduced wind speed and boost accuracy on each shot. It is the most accurate barrels.....made me think, so why are fx liners/barrels rifle all the way now if this commercial says the smooth twist was the superior barrel. Should we go back to smooth bore with rifling only at the last 4 inches??? Hmmmm

FX  First time shooter/buyer advice needed

Hey gents,

so looking to get in the PCP shooting community and wanting to get into precision shooting and maybe even try a few comps down the road. With that said been trying to do my research and trying to decided on 3 things for a good target/precision gun that i can shoot at least 100yard bench and out from there

1. What gun, I know their are a lot but was leaning towards the FX brand and something like the M4 or DRS pro
2. What is the best caliber for the above mentioned use
3. Scope. I mean i know their are a lot but i would like to keep the scope under 2k

thanks in advance for the help

Umarex  All hail the NOTOS!!!

Yes I know there are many threads about the notos. But this my thread on the notos. For a under $200 gun, damn this little gun is the bomb. It's $197 plus shipping/tax of course, but worth it. Took less than a week to arrive. Like 5 days I think. The gun is so light, even with a scope. Makes my impact feel like a lifting a 45 lb weight now lol. The lever cocking is a bit rough. I guess you can polish it but I didn't want to take it apart. So I spray ballistol into the lever action is work it back and forth. Now it's much smoother but nothing compare to the impact lever of course. Folks hate the mag but I find it's OK for what it is. Im use to the marauder/prod mags so it's basically the same thing. Trigger is heavy and I didn't like it. But it can be adjusted. Under the Trigger is a hex hole, I believe its 1.5mm. I turn it clockwise until it doesn't cock anymore and then back off a half turn. Now it's super light. Power I get is around 750fps with 14gr pellet. I get 25 shots b4 it falls off reg. Which is good for a little gun considering its only 66cc. For accuracy i only test to 30 yards and getting half inch or better. Mine love the jsb 15gr and h&n 14gr field target. Grab yours here for $197 plus shipping/tax. Everyone should be owning this little gun.

Outlets for selling airguns

I'd like to know what outlets (websites or otherwise) there are for selling airguns. So far I'm aware of the following:
  • Gateway to Airguns
  • Airgun Nation (of course)
  • eBay - max .25 caliber and they take at least a 13.5% cut of final sale
  • Gunbroker - not sure of restrictions or the cut they take

I tried Craigslist but quickly found out they don't allow airguns at all
>:(

What are some other outlets?

PCP Rifle  SOLD WTT .30 BRK Ghost HP (Derrick Wall Tuned)

Had this posted and removed it to give it one more try since it is such an accurate shooter but end of the day just doesn’t “fit” me….

Like new Derrick Wall tuned BRK Ghost .30 HP.

Gun has maybe 100 rounds through it and is insanely accurate (with both 44.75 and 50.15 as well as the JTS 45.06). Truly one of the most accurate guns I have shot but being a bigger guy I just have not bonded with the form factor of this one.

Comes with 580cc bottle, one magazine and ships in BRK hard case. Derrick has worked his magic on the trigger and is tuned to perfection yielding single digit extreme spreads.

Prefer trades for 100 yard bench guns in .22 or .30 (can add cash on my end if need be for the right deal).

Stocks/Grips/Chassis  SOLD WTS: Rapid70 Marauder Pistol Bullpup conversion.

I got over my skis on this one and never got around to installing. Full disclosure the directions reference a plug for installation after removal of the air gauge, and my parts kit did not include one. For a tinkerer this should be a quick fix. Priced accordingly. 150.00 shipped. Venmo.

Short hunt & successful recovery

Worked an almost 12 hour shift at the driving range yesterday, so slept in and didn't hit the woods till 8. My main objective was to place a camo'd milk crate in a strategic spot, and then look for my lost pellet pouch. If I get a shot, great, if not, concentrate on finding that pellet pouch.

In no time at all I jumped one that was feeding on the ground, and was given a 20 something yard shot as he hopped up on a trunk to check me out - POP - wtf? that was a hit, but he's running up, no back down, POP - ok, two shots to nails this one, hmmm ...

20241014_082539.jpg

So I glanced at my gauge, set up to reflect my reg pressure - WTF - 1300 psi, reg is set at approx. 1800 psi - Mr. Potato Head here forgot to topped off -

On a positive note, after searching at least 30 minutes, decided to call it a morning, only to walk right up on my pellet pouch in a completely different patch of woods

Vines

805 yards .25 FX M3, AbsoluteMOA/Ravin and Corbin slugs

Well, I really blew it this time. I had one of the nicest/calmest mornings I could ask for when it comes to shooting ELR.
I was sure to bring lots of ammo and was ready to have a great time sending some long range lead across the canyon.
The only problem was that I somehow overlooked my air supply. I brought my tank, but hadn't realized how low it had gotten. 🤦 So after getting all set up, I realized I was running on fumes. Just barely off the reg.
I did manage to take a quick video of 1 full mag (25 shots) at just over 805 yards. About 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through, the elevation really started to drop off and I was having to adjust my holdover to keep up.
I gave up after that and of course the rest of the morning was calm as could be.🤨
