R.I.P David Thornton

Utah Airguns Team shooter David Thornton passed away recently (I don't know the cause but it's a Facebook post). He was a super friendly guy, and a very good shooter. David shot with Team Centercut for a short time in 2021 at the Team vs Team event at the Garth Killpat range in Utah, and borrowed Enrique Gomez's team gear so we (TC) all called him "Enrique" from that time on... He had a great year in 2024, winning the Steel Scramble event at EBR13. We'll all miss you David!

PCP Pistol  WTS Probably the RAREST airgun you’ll see for sale this year — Brocock Orion 6 BACS Revolver

IMG_7457.jpeg

Selling a Brocock Orion 6 BACS Revolver in .177. This is essentially a re-barreled (and somewhat additionally restructured) Weihrauch firearm modified to shoot BACS cartridges. These are individually aired-up cartridges that behave exactly like any other PCP reservoir and are fed into the .38 cylinder just like .38 rounds. It’s an ingenious system that went extinct over a decade ago after being outlawed in the UK. I can all but guarantee you will not see another one of these revolvers listed for sale here or elsewhere for a long, long time—especially not one that WORKS!

The gun itself is beautiful and in pristine aesthetic and working condition. It handles and feels like a real firearm because, well…

Selling the gun with 6 cartridges, proprietary hand pump, and original box.

Asking $850 shipped CONUS.

Pellet question

When ordering from non-airgun related sources, they don't usually go through the pains of packaging that helps prevent your pellets from damage i.e. the Amazon website. I've done this in the past. When opening the pellet tins, a lot of the pellets were out-of-round (is the best way I can describe it) i.e. the skirts were a little bent or otherwise out of shape. I see a lot of flyers when shooting pellets like this. As a rule, slugs don't have a skirt, so flyers don't usually happen.

Any suggestions on how to get them round again, or back in the original shape? I've tried to use another pellet, or the end of a metal pen case with limited success. It's hard to push into the skirt section with out putting the pellet into a holder, but finding a holder (I usually just use a magazine) has proven difficult at best.

Thanks

HW/Weihrauch  HW 35L

Took a ride to beautiful NH yesterday to pick up my 35 from my good friend Scott Blair. Had him revive the leather piston seal and clean and relube , replaced breech seal w synthetic cause original leather to far gone . Also had him sand and refinish stock . What I saw amazed me. Shooting smooth and in the low 700’s . Thought I share a couple pictures. Before and after.

FX  FX always stands with its customers, manufacturing fault

My experience is this that FX always stand with its customers.

Please watch the following video. An M3 came to me for repair and it's the first time that I found that 1st regulator doesn't have any breathing hole.

It's not reg delete part but all parts of 1st regulator are inside it.

Some kind of manufacturing issue.

FX is ready to provide new regulator irrespective of the fact that how old this gun is and from wherever it has had been purchased.

Thank you FX.

WEİHRAUCH HW98 .177

Hello,
I have weihrauch hw98 .177 rifle.
I just bought the rifle.
The rifle's production year is 2017. I removed the weak spring from the rifle.
I had a Titan no8 spring installed. I measured the output velocity with jsb 10.34 grain pellet.
average speed 660 fps. This speed is equivalent to 13.5 joules.
I thought hw98 rifles were 20 joules. Is the 660 fps velocity I measured with 10.34 grain normal?

A beautiful day to go shooting

What a day, sunny, 56° and the range was almost empty.
Took my 1st gen Krait and 1st gen Caiman with me. Both of those guns are a blast to shoot. 50 yards, all 6 shots each except for the Krait sight in.

Suppose to be warm on Friday so I'm going back. Gotta figure what guns to bring this time.

Daystate  Blackwolf information

I recently had an email discussion with AOA
regarding several questions I had, that would affect someone‘s selection of the proper Blackwolf “for them”; especially if wanting to use it for field target.

I was interested in:

#1 The weight of various options
bottle v tube v stock.

#2 platform power and caliber changes.

note - I wanted a comparison to the Ghost as changes to the Ghost are pretty straightforward.

On the Blackwolf there are a couple of things that make caliber and barrel changes slightly more involved if you’re wanting to go from low power HFT to high power EFT.
This discussion did not specifically address WFTF <12 fpe.

Here is what I learned:

If you are wanting to get under 20ft-lbs for HFT with this gun, you need to go with the L.P. 17" barrel option.
Why?
With the larger transfer port and big plenum on the Blackwolf H.P. Models you will have trouble getting the gun to shoot at lower powers. EFT, no problem.

With the 17" .177 L.P. Model using a smaller transfer port, AOA reports that they got it to work really well under 20ft-lbs so that‘s the best option for people wanting to stay <20 FPE.

They suggested or reported that the 23" L.P. Model in .177 may struggle to get under 20 FPE.

Regarding shot count, bottle version, right now the .177 17" got 250 shots max (i.e. at low reg settings) <20 for? or about 125 shots at 30ft-lbs.

AOA suggested that the cylinder version, not in stock, would get closer to 150-175 shots but don't quote me.

Weights:
The 17" .177 cylinder / tube version in carbon grey is 6.9lbs, walnut 7.5lbs, Laminate 7.9lbs.

Note:

selecting the in stock “bottle“ version in any of the available platforms, shaves off .5lb.
Over the 480cc? Bottle Choice.

bottom line-if you’re wondering, the cylinder / tube versions are .5 lbs heavier.

Thus the lightest possible configuration would be a grey carbon stock with a 330 cc bottle by special request.

And if you’re at field target person you will have to choose the L.P. 17” version.

Some additional info as of 3/11/2025:

AOA reports being able to get low power, but even the lightest (white) spring was "too strong" at low reg pressures of 80-90bar and they reported getting zero velocity change with the PWR wheel; and mentioned it was still using a lot of air and sounded wasteful (and didn't shoot great).
They ended up using the transfer port from the UK sub12 guns with everything else the same and it worked perfectly.
The plan is to include the high power transfer port as well as the low power one so customers can use either.
The conversion is simple, the transfer port is a brass piece threaded onto the barrel - all you would need to do is remove the barrel and swap out the transfer ports.

AOA reported a shooter used the Blackwolf in the Sonoran Grand Prix a few weeks ago and it shot really well.

With the different transfer port it got 17-19ft-lbs at 90bar reg and was very efficient. I think we set his up for 10gr but 13gr will work fine as well.
The platform can still swap to any caliber/barrel length you want even with the 17" barrel so that won't be an issue.

Fabricated a Custom Bag-Rider arm for the SKOUT ... snazzy !!

Seeing Donny FL sells one for $60 + postage  figured that $$ was better spent on event entry or pellets etc, being I'm retired and fun projects keep the O'ld mind working.
Dug out a piece of 6061-T6 aluminum solid rectangle in .500" x .625" and got after it. The foot that slides in IS-NOT a taper / dovetail but a flat side shape with a small amount of flair / wedge at the bottom. How friggen odd !!

No matter as duplicating this profile just took a ball end mill set to be just shy of flat facing leaving a small bit of roll out / wedge on each side. Bit of fiddling to get the profile correct we get a firm slide in fit to the SKOUT skeleton butt pad.
* Where the Donny is a slip fit using 2 grub screws ( The FX design in general is majorly lame IMO ) I opted to make fit a snug Tap it together fit thats not coming apart or going to wiggle (y)

From there the aluminum gets torch heated up and wailed on by a big sledge while held in a vise making a Banana'ish profile. Some milling cuts to even up the sweep and belt sander profiling it starts to look like a bag rider.
Drill some lightening & bling holes down its length it takes on a less Ghetto look  Some sanding and scotch bright pad buff and we have it done.
Total time invested less than 2 hours and was kinda fun to fabricate and certainly happy with the result.

FX  Help me decide

Needing some of your expertise. I am buying a new Airgun this month and it will be my first competition type Airgun. Im looking for a little advice, I will be shooting our local bench rest competitions at 25/50/75/100. For 25/50 its pellets only, 75/100 you can shoot slugs. I can’t afford 2 guns lol so I got to make do with one! I’m thinking the Panthera or the Impact M4 in 600. Which ever I get I plan on changing the liner to the pellet liner if necessary. Any help is greatly appreciated

Talk about disappointment. Vector

Got a Vector 5-30x56 scol-22t scope a week or two ago. Couldn’t mount before because needed taller rings. So rings came today and mounted up. Went to sight in on my 13 yard range. Well s h I t wouldn’t focus. Noticed dial went only to 15 yards. Checked with Vector site and sure enough says 10 yards. Emailed Vector USA . A little pissed off

  • Question
Tuning  Hammer spring preload??

I have been trying to perfect my maverick .22 BT compact to shoot 25 grain pellets but for the life of me can’t get my Allen key to fit into the hole for the adjustment. So… can anyone please recommend what I should set this thing to? Ernest Rowe recommended 6mm in an old video about disassembly but what about actual tuning? Should I max it out and slowly adjust backwards? Kind of a pain until I get a new hex set. Currently set to 6.33mm and at 110 bar was shooting 18.13 grains at 880 fps

edit: have 3 hammer weights to chose from as well. 4mm 11.g 6mm 12g and 8mm 13g

PCP Rifle  NLA STEYR LG 100... $ 1,400.....

Steyr LG 100, with Bumblebee Wood in great shape. The rifle was a Pilk Guns so it is engraved on the right side of the chassis. I covered it up before with a Vans sticker. The rifle has the older style fill nipple and I will include the fill fitting that goes with it. The gun holds air forever and has no issues. It has no air stripper, as I shot without one. It shoots 8.4 and 7.9s very well. It is a 12 FPE rifle, but if you rearrange belleville washers you can jump it up to 20 FPE if you wish. Has the old school Steyr butt end, no butt hook. Just a few very minor scratches from use on the FT circuit by me for a while. Selling the gun to buy another gun.

$ 1400........AND YOU PAY SHIPPING plus insurance. No cases included.

Thanks a lot......Bill. seven 02 six88zero12one. BC

Skout  New Skout Epoch Questions

I ordered a new Skout Epoch and just received it from Skout. I was under the impression that it came with 3 barrel liners. Mine inly came with one. Also, there is no fill probe as shown on the manual. Just a closed bolt. On the right side where the bleeder valve should be, there is a probe but it doesn’t look right. It sticks out quite a bit and looks like it can be easily damaged if the gun tips over to the right side.

Anyone get a new Epoch recently and had these issues?

Thanks.

Bill

HW/Weihrauch  MIA

Before Christmas I paid for a HW30 Stainless .22, HW95 Walnut stainless .177, HW97 kt Walnut .20 and a pellet pouch. Just got a call from AoA they are lost. One was on order for 6 months. Someone scored a few nice rifles. Have to wait to end of week to hear from shipper after form is received. Talk about a drag.
On a good note yesterday I picked up a Diana 34 premium .22. I have it in .177 as well, shoots like a dream.
IMG_1261.jpeg
Put this scope on it yesterday with a Picatinny mount. Just didn’t seem right. So put on a Sport mount. Have the crosshairs lined up on level gun but wheel is out of wack. Everything cockeyed.
IMG_1262.jpeg
Luckily the national warranty for Hawke is 30 min. from my door.
I also landed this FWB 150.
IMG_1248.jpeg
IMG_1249.jpeg
I don’t know how long it’s been sitting. Not sure if safe to shoot without damaging. I was advised to not shoot my 124.
I have 5-6 of these FWB’s, every one is a masterpiece. Crow

Just going to stop ordering *stuff*

Huma Air order the same gun, get to checkout, SUCCESS. Get an email the next day, we're sorry, there is a 2-3 week delay in fulfilling your order.

Canada Shooting Supply order a Kervan K1/C5 wood stock. Received Kral Puncher stock.

Order scope #1 from Alibaba, last week heard 5 days ago the plane landed in Hong Kong, over 2 weeks after order was placed.

Order scope #2 from Alibaba, 3 weeks later and best anyone can tell "in transit".

Order tanks on Alibaba, 5 days later check status and find still haven't shipped. Ask when they will ship. Turns out 1 of 2 tanks is out of stock. Try to cancel order. Denied, seller claims the bottle will ship in window. 7 days later finally ships.
