Thoughts on improvement-Pellet Tins

I browse the forum a ton but am sidelined for a bit, unfortunately. What’s up with these antiquated tins “secured” by a strip of tape that would be better suited for bikini waxing? Any innovative packaging ideas? If not, Why not have a printed target sticker with included so when we’re done, we can slap the target on the tin and use that strip of tape to secure and suspend it?

Proposed IL house bill is a direct threat to airgunners

I have just become aware of a bill HB2925 filed in the IL house by Representative Tipsword. In IL, an FOID card is required for all airguns over .18 caliber. Rep Tipsword's bill would remove the "over .18" exception so all airguns would require an FOID card. There are a million reasons why this is bad, but just the damage it would do to 4-H and JROTC programs makes one shiver. This bill would be up for possible committee vote this week, so please file express your displeasure to Rep Tipsword and file a witness slip against the bill.

There is the actual bill: https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/bi...A=103&DocTypeID=HB&LegID=148069&SessionID=112

Here is Rep Tipsword's contact page: https://reptipsword.com/contact/

Here is a link from another forum on how to create a witness slip opposing this bill: https://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?/topic/32865-witness-slip-instructions/

Carry on!

Tuning  Is the HW97 Vortek pg4 HO kit a little for spicy for .177?

908E2F52-F72D-47DA-B4F5-96C8C11B921B.png
I apologize if this has already been discussed. The Vortek website says that this HW97 HO kit will put out 1100 fps with 7.9 grain pellets. Is this a misprint or is this kit better suited for the bigger calibers? Does anyone have this kit installed in .177 and if so how is the performance and firing cycle?

insane amount and variety of pcps!

I had a Marauder back not long after they first came out and only ever had the hand pump so I sold it and just stuck with with my springers and firearms. lately I've been getting way more back into airguns and decided I need to get back into PCP with a compressor. So after joining here, I watch the classifieds and read the forums pretty much all the time I don't have anything better to do, and most of the time I have something better to do, also. It's really destroying my sleep cycle!

So my issue is this. I had absolutely no clue as to the amount of variety that there is! It's astounding to me. And because I have no clue, it seems senseless to me. I have an old FX Tarantula, and really like the FX brand as much as I know about it, so that's what I'm drawn towards. Let alone the plethora of brands out there, FX seems to have 955 models of their own! I can't make sense of them. To me, about half the models look almost identical, with only small differences, or sometimes none that I can even see whatsoever. Then there are about 75 brands that have all sorts of models that look the same also. This is very different coming from firearms, where most brands have a just a few different models, and I primarily shoot rimfire, so each brand has usually one or two models at most.

So I'm not sure how to make sense of them all, but almost all that come up in the classifieds I look at and decide that's the one I want.... until the next one comes up!

This is going to be tough

Air rifle store ARstore

Any body dealt with these guys?

I was looking for a CZ Aeron chassis for a Streamline I just picked up. Found my way onto this site. Huge discount when using Bitcoin. Hard to turn down a 450 dollar chassis for less then 300 bones. I searched to see if anybody has bought from them, no luck. Also noticed they still have the Ataman pistol, those things don’t come around everyday. Any body have any feedback?

Compressor gauge or airgun gauge?

New at this~~~I have a question.
I went to charge my rifle (new) Hatsan Flash with the typical Chinese A3 compressor I decided to buy.
I am sure just how accurate the gauges are on this equipment but setting the compressor to shut down at 2000#, the rating of the rifle, the gauge on the rifle only reflected a charge of just over 1000#.
So I turned the compressor back on, setting the auto shutoff for 2500# and when it stopped the rifle indicated a full/ideal 2000# charge.
So do I go by the rifle gauge or the compressor?

Hatsan Mod 130s Vortex QE problem with end of barrel.

Hey guys, I'm new to airguns and I just got a Hatsan Mod 130s QE from Hatsan USA. I've fired about 30 shots through it. The first couple were bangers. I think they must've been diesled. The muzzle shot sparks and It sounded like a 22LR. After those couple ones, I noticed this soft metal obstruction inside the muzzle. It looks like it's getting bigger with each pellet shot through it. I have no Idea what it is, or if I just got a faulty gun. I'm shooting a target 5 yards away, and it's missing by 4 or 5 feet. I can see the pellet bounxing in the dirt 5 yards to the right. I was hoping someone knows what the hecks is going on and what the heck is stuck inside. Picture attached
Also when I retrieve the pellet after, it's almost completely flattened and deformed. Using Vortex Strike 48.6gr and Polymag predators 44.75gr
Thanks guys!

Some Diana 75 & FWB300s shooting today.

Wanted to get in some shooting today, weather outside not good around my area today. Went to the basement range to get little trigger time.
Took some oldie but goodies out haven’t shot in while. Used to Have scopes on both guns previously, decided to take them off and put back on the original sights. Never used them this way until today. It was fun, I shot better than I thought I was going to. Best groups I got with them using Meisterkugekns.

Edgun Matador r3m worth a punt?

I am based in UK and so purchasing an airgun over 12ftlbs on a firearms certificate is a long and dreary process, accordingly you want to make sure you get it right.

In this regard looking for any comments on an r3m matador (long) as one in .22 is up for sale and is calling to me. Not a lot on the internet about this rifle and I just want to get an idea from owners/former owners the pros and cons of the rifle. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I make money the old fashioned way...

Some of our shooting events are giving out prize money for the top places. While it's not an "extreme" amount, it's not nuthin. Although this has always left a bad taste in my mouth, I'm not going to be a baby about it. It's there, it's a thing, we aren't going to unscrew that particular poodle.

So here's where I would like to see some opinions from other competitors: If there is prize money on the line, how do you want to see ties broken? To me, the obvious answer is a shoot off. A shoot off will make the cream rise to the top and is very entertaining for everyone present. I can't remember every match I've attended, but I can remember every shoot off that I've been in or watched. (Ask me some time about my extremely embarrassing shoot off at the Skeet Worlds a decade ago. It was bad, but still entertaining for everyone that wasn't me)

I get that sometimes you have a local match where 8 people show up and no one is interested in sticking around for a "bragging rights" shoot off. Sure, figure out who had the best standing lane score, or the first miss, or who is the tallest (my preferred non-shoot out tie breaker). But if there is money or a trophy or GP points on the line, I feel like a shoot off is the only fair way to break ties. Plus, we are all finishing around the same time. It's not like someone has to sit around for a couple of hours to see if they are in a shoot off.

The only person negatively impacted by a shoot off is the match director, but they should already know where they are going to have a shoot off if the need arises, so it's really not that big of a deal to set up.

Thoughts?

Government officials planning to waste taxpayers money again.

The town of Belvedere in California is having problems with coyotes and is considering hiring snipers from the federal government to eliminate all of them. I'm sure there are many volunteers on this forum they will do it for free. Why pay when you can get it done for free? Because that's what the government always does!

Relationship between regulator and spring

Let me preface this by saying the spring is NOT adjustable outside of cutting or adding spacers and the regulator is NOT externally adjustable and thus I have to completely degas whether going up or down pressure wise. Incremental adjustments of both just isn't in the cards.

So the question is, what IS the relationship between the hammer spring and regulator? For example, if hammer is too light for regulator pressure, what would expect the fps to be start/middle/end of shot string. If the hammer is too heavy for the reg pressure, what would expect the fps to be start/middle/end of shot string. Ideally you'd want to get consistent shots across till it drops off the reg. As it is, my fps are still on a bell curve, not drastic, but bell curve nonetheless. I'm trying to flatten that bell curve as best I can. I'm about 4 months into PCP and this is all still very new to me.

SOLD WTS Anschutz 2025 HP .177 FT $850 Shipped

Used Anschutz 2025 HP .177 this was my personal WFTF rig, this rifle shoots like you'd expect from a anschutz
accurate, adjustable, match grade trigger etc. since it was the HP version I had to turn it down to sub 12fpe for WFTF right now its set for 11fpe
and last I chronographed it I went 150 shots on the reg and then stopped as that was more that I would ever need at a match.
But the rig could easily be adjusted back up to open class power levels.
I also installed a quick fill adapter so it can be filled with a BSA fill probe but also include the original thread on fill adapter.
The full length optics rail is included I found its really helped stiffen the breech and prevent zero shifts.
Asking $850 obo Shipped CONUS, Paypal preferred.
Would consider trades +- cash either way looking to get into a nrl setup so optic or high end slug gun.

The gun definitely shows its age and use cosmetically previous owner repaired a crack at the grip and then there are just quite a few little scuffs or imperfections in the finish.
I considered refinishing the stock when I got it but it didn't affect function and was my travel rig, along that line you will also see there a screw missing on the adjustable cheek rest again it came to me that way and once it was setup it didn't affect function.

BRK Ghost HP .25

Just received BRK Ghost HP .25 from Atlas Airguns. Purchased it on Thursday early morning and got it today Saturday in 3 days. Absolutely awesome rifle pushing 70+ fpe easy and I didn’t have to do anything, unlike my Impact MK 3. Straight out of the box, it’s accurate and powerful. Customer service at Atlas with Tristin was fast and reliable. Awesome dealer. I’ve purchased and own 12 high end PCP rifles from various dealers and Tristin is on the top notch for sure. Utah Airguns and Ben at The Pellet Shop, you guys are awesome as well.
