Optics  SOLD ThOR LT 160 3-6X50mm Thermal Scope

Selling a like new ThOR LT 160 Thermal Scope. I purchased this from Optic Planet in August 2022, so it's still under ATN's 2 year warranty. This is the LT version that DOES NOT record video. I did not realize this when I purchased it, but kept it anyway. It was briefly mounted on a PCP and used for pesting, but I like to record pesting videos and this doesn't have that capability. There are 2 very small cosmetic marks (pictured below) that were probably from mounting it or taking it in/out of the safe. Works perfectly. These sell for $899.99 new, asking $650.00 shipped to the Continential U.S. only. Includes Charging cable, Eye Cup and Scope Cover. PM with questions.

Neil Clague doing better!

Hey guys. I responded to a post the other day and mentioned that Neil Clague had had had heart surgery two weeks ago today. I wanted to mention it here, in it’s own discussion so you would all see it.

He was in the hospital 8-9 days after surgery but is now home and doing much better. Over the last few years, he’s been slowing down a bit, well, it was because his heart wasn’t pumping right. Now though, he feels good and is hoping to be shooting and making moderators in no time.

BRK Pathfinder XR - Ready for action!

Hi Airgun Nationers!

The BRK Pathfinder is now being shipped on ever increasing numbers so i though it a good time to share the press release and data on this very compact new rifle. For those of you who have missed it, the BRK/Brocock Pathfinder takes the idea of the super compact Atomic and Ranger but adds a 300cc carbon bottle instead of the 50cc air tube on the Ranger. We have done this using the well established Commander, and adding the ranger barrel and tuning up the Hume-Air regulator from the magnum version. The combination is a small compact and fully equipped carbine that is heavier than the Ranger, but more powerful and with a greater shot count. Tony

READY FOR ACTION

011-5_BRK Pathfinder XR.jpg

The BRK Pathfinder XR joins the super-light and compact Ranger XR which quickly became a firm favourite with hunters and pest controllers. Building on its success and reputation, the new Pathfinder XR features a lightweight 300cc carbon Kevlar bottle for increased shot count compared to the Ranger XR. Export and FAC models also benefit from higher power output as well. The Pathfinder XR measures a carbine length 22.5 inches with its folding stock deployed, and just 18.5 inches with it retracted, resulting in a rifle that is incredibly fast onto the target and useful in tight situations. It weighs just 6.4lbs, and yet in low power can deliver over 200 shots. .25 calibre models produce energy up to 30 ft/lbs. Super compact and able to be easily transported in a backpack, or optional purpose-built rifle slip. The Pathfinder XR offers superb accuracy at hunting ranges out to 45 yards and beyond and its slick sidelever action enables fast reloading. The Pathfinder features an advanced Huma-Air regulator and newly introduced hammer design. This new system is our most consistent, yet which results in superb performance and accuracy.

I have 2 scopes, who to use?

I have a:
-BSA 4.5-14x44mm FFP
-NcStar 10-40x50mm SFP

Im selling one of my rifles and dont know what scope to keep.
I like the NCstar cuz its bigger and has a crosshair thats Nice and visible, but again, I dont need 40x.

The BSA has a zoom better suited for airgun, but I cant get the crosshair to be Nice and visible in it, is much thinner than the other scope (thats probably a good thing) but when I look in the scope its fades away for me after a few seconds.

Im shooting mostly 30-50m but have targets out to 150m

Fx Maverick - regulator issue?

Hey everyone, wanted to post this and see if I could get any feedback.

This is front reg only, I follow Steve’s tuning guide to the T. Set front reg seat it adjust more if needed seat the reg. But it refills the plenum SOOO slow and it does this while shooting at well (refills very slow). I can never hear my plenum breathing ( which is one of the main reasons I wanted a FX in the first place, it just sounds badass).

It’s 49 degrees tonight here in rochester, not sure if that has something to do with it. It does seem to fill faster when it’s warmer but still can’t hear the plenum.

I have chronographed the gun and velocities seem consistent. Is this normal?

Thanks!

Sort of a personal 20 cal revival.

I haven't shot my blue R9 in months and months because I left all my 20 cal pellets at my other house 1200 miles away. I just received some 20 pellets for an incoming rifle. BTW never say you're done buying rifles 🫣.

Anyway I ran a few ten yard, five shot groups through the blue R9 today. I started at the bottom because it was last shot at fifty yards and I expected it to throw high. After the first sloppy group I dialed down ten clicks. Then another four clicks for the next group. Overall I'm happy to shoot it again and get the results that I got.

Accessories  SOLD Complete shoebox set-up and .22 pellets

Well all of my PCP's are gone. Only keeping an HW50 in .177 that I traded for. Anybody local interested in my .22 pellets and/or my shoebox compressor set-up?

ShoeBox F8 with filters and primary compressor (the Norge not the CAT partly shown in pic). Also have some spare rebuild parts (o-rings, belts, etc). The only issue with compressor is the high pressure cut off switch went up several years ago so I just disconnected it and keep an eye on it shutting it off manually. I've owned for about 8 years and never had any other issues with it. I also have a couple smaller regged tanks I will throw in.

$200 (obo) picked or meet near Abingdon or Middle River Maryland

Evol mini and some scientific shooting done today.

Got some shooting in today to prove the repeatability of the @americanairarmsofficial Evol Mini .22 !!! Along with how well I can shoot off the cuff at any moment, still got more practice to do.

This shooting was done in a little over a half hour. Each group is 1 mag, there is no cherry picking here,

5 groups at each distance.
1 mag on each target.
Phone calls incoming.
Uneven shooting table. (collapsible table suggestions welcome)
Weird winds.
A large cup of coffee at 430 pm.

This rifle is my all time favorite air rifle I have ever owned hands down. It has surpassed my love of Taipans and Hubens with ease. It's a masterpiece. A work of art. A surgical tool.

And that is why after some moving around I struck a deal on a .22 Evol HPS today.

Next one in line is going to be a new .30 Evol Paradigm in beautiful walnut setup for 100 yard bench rest.

Guess I better strip some more superduty trucks and make some more moves to get that one in my hands.

Long distance shooting fun

So I had a "redneck/hillbilly" thought for a few days, and finally put it to use last night. Sorry I dont have pics yet, I am at work and no access to my cell phone. I took a normal Dr. Pepper bottle, rinsed it and let it dry. Added a tbl spoon of flour. I drilled the cap to accept an automotive valve stem, cheap to buy at any auto store. I used a small 12v tire pump and added air, maybe 10-15psi is all, just till the bottle got firm to squeeze. Shake it up to get the flower to suspend in the air. Sit it at XXX range and shoot it. They make a nice little bang, and the flour gives you a visual. My daughter and I had a blast last night doing this. Here is the amazon link to the valve stems I used. I will say they are not back yard friendly if you live in a close neighborhood, but out in the sticks where I live it is an absolute blast.

Just to clarify regarding Hawke optics

Somewhere here or out in the vast caverns of the Web, I saw a comment that Hawke scopes with one-inch tubes are not springer rated; you need a 30mm tube.
I have a Hawke Vantage 207x AO with one inch tube and I reached out to Hawke a few minutes ago to clarify whether the scope is safe to mount on a nitro-piston Crosman. Here was the reply I just received.

Chipmunks - pest or protected?

The big question - are chipmunks a pest species or a protected rodent in your state?

I own some land in New Hampshire. It’s usually loaded with chipmunks, they make for a great camping trip.

From what I can find, the chipmunk is a pest species, no hunting season, shoot as long as not violating town ordinance.

I live in NJ. Not even going to bother looking up the chipmunk here. No place to shoot freely anyway.
In looking up the neighboring state of Pennsylvania I see the chipmunk is a “protected mammal“. No legal season.

What about your state? Have you even bothered to look it up? Hunting license required?

When I Am Tempted To Buy Another Airgun....

I start thinking about the various accessories on my wishlists. I think about the gear that I'd like to upgrade or the various iterations of products I would like to try and compare them to those that I own or have already tried. This usually helps. Then I also remind myself that "you haven't shot your _________ in months. What are you going to do with that?" or "you bought this months ago and still haven't used it." This thinking usually helps. What works for you?
