I spent yesterday on jury duty (but wasn't selected). It was a bit of an eye-opener. The thug on trial (for felon in possession of a firearm, ADW, and shooting into a vehicle) cleaned up really nice. He kept his mouth shut the whole day, too. The lawyers concentrated on two things. The jurors' views on the police and on the race of the particular thug on trial. Looking forward to seeing how things play out.

My work partner did 8 years for attempted murder. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and probably the most liked in our shop. You just never know.
Treefrog
Yeah... I looked up this particular guy's priors. He's a convicted woman-beater. Multiple felony convictions. I'm done with that.
Dr. Kralenstein
Sounds like he needs a longer time out this time. Apparently his prior sentences didn't "rehabilitate" him.

So sick of everyone worrying about what race someone is. We're ALL one race and it's called Human.

Unless they consider him an animal, then race would apply!
Got the hard part done. Having a smart and strong buddy is highly recommend.

Time now to clean inspect and adjust to level. Don't know if it will ever pay for itself, but I am excited to learn how to turn. Airguns are still cheaper than golf 😆

I remember helping my friend putting a new complete gearbox into a land rover parked at the curb.
That be shoehorning it in thru the back door, and then drop it down ( floor removed ) and finagle it into place )
Now we was 2 doing the lifting but if you know a land rover you know there is not much room back there, and the complete gearbox as i recall was 208 kilos / 458 pounds.
Back then in the 90ties i was only 65 Kilos / 143 pounds myself, and 6 foot 3 tall, with no shirt on you could count my ribs from 25 yards with ease.
But i was at least lifting the 150 of those kilos, at least i could fairly easy dead lift that weight in the late 80ties.

I could use a lathe tomorrow when i cut 100 mm of one of my FX barrels.

A lathe are not rocket science,,,, you got this buddy.
BUT ! watch your fingers.
A young man was so disappointed today that I could would not sell a part that would not fit without machining that he asked if I was a "Boomer".

He wasn't asking, really, he was being rude and was extremely immature in his conduct.

Hang on people, Hell is quite the ride in a handbasket....

People tend to confuse observations with criticism. I think that it stems from insecurity, but what do I know?

One of the things I love about mechanical work is that is reality based. Feelings have no part in it (except of course, when you crank an engine up and it purrs after you spent hours getting it back to right). That said, the problems happen when someone feels a certain way about how something should work. Reality doesn't operate that way. Getting that across to them without pissing them off is the hard part. I once said to a former client - "Have you considered finding a Holistic Mechanic"?

I apologize. I didn't mean to start an argument. I am 51. I don't have kids. Never wanted them. I did watch my friends and coworkers have kids over the years and have noticed most of them don't raise their kids, the way my mom raised me.
Then again... how could they? When I was a little jerk, my mom/principle would beat my @Ss to teach me discipline. Parents/Principles aren't allowed to do that these days. If you can't teach today's kids, the same level of discipline... how can you expect them to turn out the same?
I agree kids are out of control these days. We just disagree on the source of that behavior.
Finally. Being a 'Boomer' is a badge of honor. I had a lot of friends that did not make it to 'Boomer' status.
Firewalker
I certainly didn't think anything said so far was criticism, I have seen avery generation take the easy road of blame (me included when I was young) instead of the hard road of change.
Remember! July Fourt is almost here! But there is something louder than Fireworks!1719692143622.png

All I see is a plastic bottle cap.
If it isn't that, what is it?

That's a cake container like the grocer store uses for angel-food cakes. I hate angel-food cake... The dogs disagree.
Firewalker
Totally a COSTCO cheesecake container!

I get busted EVERY time I pop it open to sneak a piece. 😇
I just wanted to thank all the members on the forums that supported me the last 3years.. My health has been bad..No income..My disability finally went through😀... My best friend realized the hard times I fell on and bought me my .510 Texan and .22 Condor... Airgun s and there related activities really helped at times when I was unable to do anything else...I rebuild my yong heng 7 times....I couldn't afford a compressor upgrade.. I'm so looking forward. to a air compressor booster upgrade!😀.. My Tractors.fixed.. new shooting range at other property finally going to happen!!!! So thankful for your support!!! My health is much better than its been in a long time!!!! I'm going to have income play around with airgun s,food plots, and new camp.and range on our family property...Small things mean alot...Good.day friends
Ezana4CE
Good to read that things are looking up for you. Sounds like you have solid friends.
Putting in some study time. Doing my homework for N50 contest in Raton, NM in August.

Now that’s some research I could be coerced into…just looks like fun to me..John
JimNM
John, are you and your squad going to be able to get to the N50 this year at Raton? I had to pull out last year due to family emergency. This year it'll take Godzilla to keep me away. Hope to have you guys there. New Mexico needs some shooters better than me, to represent 👍
J
Not this year…I haven’t put in the time on that very perishable skill…Hopefully have more time to devote to my favorite activities over the coming year. Not sure if any of our other shooters are going.… health issues in one form or another seems to plague us as we get older. Thanks for your vote of confidence. John
Failure: I hate it when you get that feeling in the pit of your stomach when someone asks you to do work for them but thier expectations are completely unrealistic.

No matter how hard you try sometimes, you fail even when you did everything right and you returned the product in better shape.

These are the days.....
Firewalker
No, it was an even cheaper gun and I just knew that there was a disconnect and LOTS of warning signs ahead of time.

No one to blame but me. I just wish I hadn't spent all those hours on it.
Dr. Kralenstein
Sometimes you just gotta say no and turn down certain customers. It's not worth the headache or stress. I find myself turning down side work on cars more and more, especially more critical/bigger jobs. Had a timing chain job fail 8000 miles after I did the work, solely because the owner didn't want to replace the vvt cam gears as I recommended, and they tried to blame me for the failure.

I no longer do timing chains or belts because of that. Too much liability.
Treefrog
I feel you. There are people that will never be happy regardless of how well they're taken care of. "Ever since you fixed my bike, my neighbors' mower won't start." The upside is that once you know who they are, you can both avoid them and warn others off.
Gotta love GM. Had to replace the emission vent solenoid on top of my gas tank on the work van. Order the part which was 30 bucks. OK. I drop the tank to get access, fiddle with the connectors and hose clamp while standing on my head. Off it comes! Not too bad right?

Pop the hose on the new solenoid and go to connect the wires and it DOESN'T FIT. Huh?

Check my part number and it's correct. Then I find out that the lovely engineers at GM decided to "update" the wire connector a few years after my van, but they did make an adapter harness that you can get for a nominal fee of $60!

This is why mechanics hate engineers!
Peashooter
Try to imagine a diesel engine, as big as a house.
Then imagine you have to do something simple with it, and find out you need to unscrew parts of that damn thing for half a day just to do something extremely simple.

I have lost count on how many times i have cursed engineer's to hell.
Dr. Kralenstein
I hate working on diesels. Did that for 8 years as a bus mechanic. They stuff those engines in the back of those bastards. It got to the point I would just pull the whole motor/trans out to do most anything on them vs crawl inside there and get cramped up and disgustingly greasy.
Peashooter
HEHE yeah i could imagine that, probably more cramped than some exhaust manifolds i have been inside. ( and i am 6 foot 3" )
Plenty of chances to get dirty on a ship too, some jobs actually mean a +50 % bonus.

Also remember the old days where you could drop a tool working on a motor, and it would just fall to the ground below it, these days popping the hood and you cant even see the GD engine.
I'm getting my most important tools for airgun usage ready for service!!! Team Kubota L3010 and Team Honda Rancher 420TRX.....With the tractor fixed brush hog a new shooting range on the grown up property now possible😀!!! Hopefully 250 yards!! ! I'm kinda gimped so I have to have trails.cut and be able to drive to targets....I have the POP up camper on the property already!!!! Since spending more time there the wildlife are responding well...Less trespassers...... Saw good bear sign had me surprised😮😮...

No.I really.haven't... I.do enjoy having my old mountain fiest run a bear on occasion... Here in SW Pennsylvania its.a.new thing seeing Bears,Coyotes,Bobcats.....Are Wild Turkey numbers are half what they used to be...Ground Hogs are so.few.in number they aren't a pest anymore... Maybe I'll.get a bear tag.this year😀
Firewalker
Thats AWESOME!

I got a LS Tractor last year, I'm getting a brush-hog, rotary mower this summer to knock down the hay/grass so I can keep the 100 yard lane as well.
Caiman X reg not referenced to ATM
Anyone else get a kick out of this? I'm literally LOLing

Ezana4CE
I love it!!! This is hilarious!
beerthief
I had one of these feeders , the Squirrels (it looked like ) played on it till the motor wore out . bought a new motor and they burned that out , gave up . Stan in
KY.

EDIT: yes it is motor driven rechargeable
Ezana4CE
@beerthief There's a motor that makes it do that? I thought it was spinning because of the momentum and weight distibtuion of the squirrel on the feeder.

Yesterday evening was perfect for summer in central MN. How are the skeeters in your neck of the woods? Practically every day I walk around my property, I'm picking off wood ticks.
Peashooter
Tics are off the chart in Denmark this year, apparently it have been a ideal winter / spring for those.
Also it would seem we will soon have to welcome another moskito from the south, it also possibly carry some exotic decease.

Nature in general also not doing so well, a study released recently show that in 10 different kinds of nature, there are progress in 0 of them, so to avoid the tics, dont go out in the miserable remains of Danish nature.
Years of plinking and competition, then stopped 20 years ago. Spent the last 12 years working for an engineering house building and testing prototypes for new products that connect to iPhones and iPads.
Just purchased my RAW HM1000x about a month ago, along with a Hawke Sidewinder 4-16x50. Arken Zulu with range finder is on the way.

Glad to be here.
The longest day of the year is coming up soon and apologizing to my dry friends up front, I'm going to pull out a reclining lawn chair, grab an ice cold beer and listen to the wind in the trees until the light is all gone and it's pitch black.

I've been on call for a week, I'm in pain, my honey-do list still takes up my job board and I need to just sit a while and "be".
Peashooter
I would like to do the same, but the problem is, in Denmark summer seem to no longer exist, these days daytime temperatures can barely claw their way past 10 deg C / 50 deg F
So as you can understand i am sure, not much fun being outside and at least inactive, TBH i think the moment the new shot shed are done we might have to start up the furnace / oven in it to keep warm.

There might be global warming, but its not us that " pump up the volume " last summer was also BS
Im working on a few dozen clamps for an acoustic build.

I’m very familiar with cam clamps…I built wooden sailing yachts. Most of mine were much larger and heavier….same concept though. I still like to see neat tools, simply constructed, to accomplish a specific task. John
Firewalker
Spool clamps only grip the edge, great for top plates.
Sergey1972
I built similar clamps from aluminum for welding titanium airflow tubing for aircraft.

Cheers,

Sergey
