New guy from firearms world

Welcome to AGN.
I have some questions:
Do you have an airgun or caliber in mind? what type of shooting would you like to do? What's your shooting background? what's your budget? It will help with the responses you receive.

PCP 22 cal for target shooting, pest management, and plinking cans. I'd like a short carbine with removable stock so I can use it as a handgun too.
I got into shooting ~8 years ago. Mostly recreational pistol/rifle shooting and on occasion pistol competitions (steel challenge).
Budget <$500

Thanks for the questions

ive been trying to catch up to the kill score of the prod with a couple of other guns, doubt it will ever happen the thing is just lethal on small pests lol .. and so quiet in its present form i can tag things right up on the fenceline without getting anyones attention .. but it is limited on power and range ..under 40y/ smaller than medium bunny, its 1 shot one kill .. full pistol config use, not for me really, actually if i wanted the point practice id get a co2 blowback ..

You're welcome,
as to the budget: you are going to need the rifle/pistol "say" the Notos, A fill source, "say" a hand pump, and pellets minimum! If you want a scope, reddot, or any other addons, say a bipod, shooting bag, or moderator, cleaning kit, case or bag ETC. Those are also a consideration to the budget. I hope that this helps, good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Sounds sketchy as hell. Not really a good first post, just seems odd the way things are going.

There are plenty of topics about different smaller air guns. Do some searching and reading, then come back with a more specific question.

Yeah I smell something too odd first post and odd requests

Not sure what's sketchy about it.. I was just introducing myself like others have done and someone asked about my intentions with air guns and I replied. My OP didn't have any questions or requests. I don't understand where the hostility is coming from

Welcome to a kind of insanity all its own. For the most part people here are friendly and knowledgeable. My first pcp was a Benjamin Maximus and I think it’s a 22. I should probably check, haven’t shot it lately. I put a red dot on mine and it does pretty well. I use a hand pump and that works well also. The whole rig will come in under your budget but be advised, it won’t stop there. I set out to get three old Crosmans restored. Fourteen guns later, I think, I’m having a great time.

No hostility at all, like others have said... just weird. Many of us also come from the firearms world and have silencers for those as well. It was just odd how you stated the first post. Just remember that the mods for an airgun will NOT fit on a firearm, and are made to not handle the pressure of them. Please don't try and don't think about that, and honestly if your state doesn't allow firearm silencers I would check to make sure an airgun silencer would be ok. You don't want to be on the wrong side of a law because you didn't know. Remember ignorance of the law doesn't excuse you from it. Just be sure before you buy anything to make sure you wont have issues.

I know a while ago there was an Air Arms TDR in .22 on Airguns Of Arizona I believe. I had one years ago and it was an awesome gun, one I shouldn't have sold. There are many new guns that would fit the bill, but honestly one of the older guns that are built well will last quite a long time. As well as hold their value if you ever need to sell or upgrade down the line.

Many of us are on firearms forums as well and they are CONSTANTLY getting bombarded with people looking for a reason to get people in trouble. Many pop up asking sketchy questions, and when people do looking they find out that they are "unsavory" or "glowies" looking to entrap people.

Gotcha. Air gun suppressors are legal here and I’m careful to follow the law. Hobbies aren’t worth ruining my life over.

I’ll keep in mind that old ones are better built and hold value better.
