Airgun Technologies Vixen .177

Anyone else have one of these? With my XM1 pretty much being a fail I wanted a good .177 to hold me over while I try to figure out why it's got such terrible accuracy.

@igolfat8 mentioned recently if I tried a Vixen for pesting as he has one in .22 and loves it as we do similar pesting situations. I had one in .22 shortly and really enjoyed it but had issues with a different gun i planned on selling so I sold it instead to recoup the cash. I did really like it though. But I have plenty of .22s so didn't think anything of it.

Having my .177 spot empty for now I started researching a small compact .177. Then it hit me about the Vixen. For the price and what it is it will fit my needs perfectly. I ordered one from Tony the other day. Curious if anyone else has one? Hard to find info on a standard .177 that's not UK spec or not a .22.

If not I will be posting my thoughts on the gun when I get mine. Will be topped with the 2-12x24 Discovery scope.
What's with all the hype? I don't get it.
A full size rifle with a short barrel. There's power left on the table. And not even semi auto despite the looks.

I much prefer bullpups. If I were to get something that long, it would be powerful and accurate past 100 yards.
It would cost twice as much, sure, but who skimps on pcp anyway?
Hate me all you want.

Look like there still is a bottle in the rear.
Not bad though if it have a external REG and easy to get to hammer, very interesting.
I've changed reg pressure before and hammer tension and it is very very easy to do so even though it's internal. Less than 5 min you can degas, change reg pressure and be filling again.

A 29" rifle is hardly a full size rifle especially shrouded. Most bullpups are longer than that these days, and then you need to add a moderator on alot of them. You can have your opinion and that's totally fine. I have had other guns costing more with way more power. This gun is made for a specific purpose and one that I needed filled.

I have bullpups too and are great. They fill a different purpose as well. Also if you want to pay more for something you go on ahead. I prefer best value for my dollar. If I only need a low power gun out to 50yds why spend more?

Oh yeah no sugar coating from me. I'm not doubting it'll do what I need it to. I'm going to be more careful with it in regards to the bottle being the buttstock but otherwise should be good. Now I do have the Mk3 KO slugs, some 8.4gr JSBs, 10.4gr FX and 7.9gr CPHPs to test for accuracy. This will be my barn gun going forward and probably for birds around the house also. And sparrows. Don't like using .22 on sparrows so don't usually shoot them.
want to Poof sparrows? .177 wadcutters

I'm just thinking that for the power you're getting out of it, You could have something a lot more compact.

I believe he was referring to the long version, which is 36.2inches long
without adding a moderator (zi know it's not what you got lol). Which I could understand his point, especially because for the length and power a Vixen long makes. You're better off getting a U2 600mm which with make 3 times the power the .22 makes and nearly 2.5 x the power the .177 makes while being shorter and not that much heavier.

He can make more power out of it, it just wouldn't get as many shots. You're also not gonna find a gun with the ergonomics or as nice of a trigger as you can get with the AGT for a lower price.

Just a FYI, You’re at 13 FPE (177) and I’m at 10 FPE (in 22) and I rarely have pass through with gullet or body shots. I don’t take heads shots often due to fiberglass roofing.
Wadcutter pellets in .22 , might eliminate pass through's ? i think H&N ?

Power is highly over rated in our pesting situations. I primarily hunt pigeons, inside of barns, where they roost high up near the ceilings. Anything over 10 FPE will likely pass through the bird and also the barn's fiberglass roofing so we MUST be very cautious of our shot placements and the possibility of erroneous misses or we will lose our hunting permission. Three years ago the dairy farmer invested $900,000+ in new roofing and I don't want to be "that guy" who perforated his roofs.

I just can not keep my hands off it, but i can also at times shoot 4 different things in the span of a day.
So i might start off easy with a tin of 10 gr pellets, or two of different brand, so this require at least a couple of adjustments, then i might shoot a little 13 gr slugs before i turn to 16 gr slugs or maybe a tin of Beasts.

I have found the Huma regulator on my Two, it is quite temperamental, meaning you just have to look a bit more than sideways at it, and BAM you have adjusted 10 BAR where you only wanted to adjust 3-4-5 BAR, so it can take a few tries to hit what you was aiming for in regard to pressure.
