Diana  Pictures added! Help me figure out why someone would destroy a diana 66

So recently bought a pretty nice condition diana 66 to go in my giss rifle collection, but.....when the rifle showed up, the barrel is stamped 4.5/.177 as one would expect, but a .177 pellet just fell right through the barrel when I went to load it. What does fit in there perfectly is a .22 pellet, and there is no rifling inside the bore......you read that right, it's now a .22 smoothbore! Please help me understand what reasoning someone would have had to do this? Dart gun for a club maybe? That's the only thing I can think of that makes sense. Or is there a possibility this was done by the factory for some reason? I'm pretty upset, as this was not disclosed when I bought the rifle. Am thinking of returning it, which sucks because I love the rifle otherwise....but if I kept it the odds of me finding a good barrel are about as good as getting struck by lightning I'm thinking🤣 any info or opinions on this strange rifle would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

It's all about the numbers but understanding them is a different story

Was very fortunate to get an Ed Gun Leshiy in .25 with the extended barrel kit. What a cool gun. Now back to the title of this thread. I did a 25-shot string. 1-16 were very constant. 17-22 increased in speed and 23-25 fell off as I thought they would. Pellets were Barracudas with a fill of 250 bar down to 400 bar. Can anyone explain shots 17-22?

Other  Cometa Fenix USC Gas Ram .22 short review

I have had this rifle for two weeks and can't find anything I dont like about it.
I use this to shoot sparrows and starlings from my back porch. Most of my shots are less than 40 yards with a few around 55 yards. This rifle will shoot quarter size groups all day long. I am shooting the Crosman premier domed 14.3 and the H & N 14.6 . So far the Crosman premier are more accurate than the H&N pellets. I have about 200 shots through the rifle and it already is getting smoother to cock. It is a pretty stout rifle to cock. I don't have any fancy device to tell me
how fast or powerful this rifle is but it shoots holes through targets I have been shooting with my Crosman Trail NP .22 and it just dents the metal.
Anyhow I highly recommend this rifle and I am saving to buy the longer barrel version. Keystone Air Guns is a pleasure to deal with. Jon treats you like a friend and not a customer .

N/A  What's the point of shooting single hand unsupported?

Last couple of weeks of Olympic shooting has sparked numerous conversations about airguns, which always happens.

But what keeps coming up is the use of single hand non support.
Can anybody honestly say they can shoot single hand non support better than one hand support?

In the same Olympics that introduced Break Dancing, they're shooting as if dueling with flintlocks & black powder😅

Altaros  0.25 Cal Slug Grain / FPS / Drop / Drift

Okay so I've been reading and reading and pondering, etc.. LOL Im pretty sure I am getting the 700 Panthera 0.25 next month, and been going over slugs, tunes, etc. Seems like the Alteros Slugs are the top ones currently.

I've also ready and been advised that statying at 900 FPS is the sweet spot for these. So I was playing around with the ballistic calculators and was comparing the 49 and 66 grain Alteros slugs. When Iplug in these values nothing really changes in terms of drop and drift. I'm not changing their respective BC but just wright.

So does slug wait change anything with everything else the same (Other then the FPE at impact)

Trying to learn as much as possible before finalizing my decision. Initially was thinking 0.30 CAL, but thats just the need the biggest version of something in me :) Im sure you guys can relate to that.. LOL

Thanks
Mike

Umarex  Notos 380mm fx barrel

new to this forum just got into these pcp guns not to long ago
bought a notos for tinkering with
so far did the buck n rail accessories Hawke 4-16 x50 sidewinder Scope also added a 15cc plenum and also adding the 30cc as well
ordered the 380mm FX barrel kit from c88 on ebay hoping to get a little more accuracy and fps
i figure in all reality going from 300 to 380 the extra plenum volume i added should be enough
if not i did buy a 300cc carbon tank and the Huban external regulator

anyone done the barrel swap? ive talked to 2 people and they say there in the 780 to 800fps range with 1/2-dollar groups at 50 yards 28-33 fpe
only going by pics on the forums but sounds realistic
they also were talking about doing some port work but only issue i see is that block behind the air cylinder having like a 2.5mm passage
that to me looks like a restriction
i had thought of opening up to maybe 3.5 but not sure if that block is available in case it dont wok so well
i believe the part is part number 42?
i dont want to mod it if i cant get a replacement

Resources  The shoulder / Butt question

In HFT we have rules... yeah i know they suck.... but rules are rules

so

In HFT hooks are generally not allowed but it also comes down to HOW MUCH of a hook we have

Taking this to the logical step in rules

how much angular extension is LEGAL in HFT?

I see no definitive measurements or angles listed by BOG anywhere in the AAFTA rules

so

Match directors are allowed to use their discretion which of course can b subjective and thus vary.

how much length is allowed from the vertical portion of the BUTT
and
How much (measured with a protractor) angle of projection = horizontal extension is allowed.

Whew?

Zeroing an M4

I just got my M4 Standard .25 and mounted an Element Helix Scope with FX rings. I can not get the elevation to zero without increasing the front ring a couple millimeter. Is this normal? With both rings at the lowest setting and elevation bottomed out, it's still shooting almost a foot high! Does the new M4 have a built in slide to the picatinny rail? Can I flip the adjustable the adjustable rail to fix this, or is there another issue I need to address? Thanks

Polishing barrel

So I watched a couple of videos on Polish your barrel. They said it would increase accuracy allow for a better variety of ammo to be shot more consistently so I decided to give it a go!!! I haya Texan .457 CF long barrel. I have a Witt Machine muscle break as well attached. I proceeded as the video said and got it all done, and mannn did the inside of the barrel look GOOD!!! I was finally time to test it out!! After 20 shots it's was alllll over the place, then 30, 40, 50!!! Now I'm stressing about this new $400 barrel I am going to have to buy!! After shot 58 it seemed to be somewhat better but my tank was out and I had to call it quits!! Today I finally had time to fill my tank and try again!!! I was amazed!!! Attached is the target I shot. All 3 shot groups at 50yds!!! Top right is 6 3 shot groups of two types of ammo from lethal Air, center is Nielsen, top and bottom Right is Mr Hollow Point, and bottom Right is Pro slugs!!! Looks like polishing the barrel did exactly what everyone said it would do!! I was honestly shocked and just wanted to share with everyone. If you were thinking about doing it do not hesitate, you will not be disappointed!!!!!!!

Results  N50 & USARB Results 8/11/24 Open Grove

Full house for a beautiful morning of shooting. The first match conditions were better than most days with a nice steady breeze. Second match more of the usual switchy stuff.
Shooting was good for John Voso he shot his first 250, congrats. Good to see some USARB folks showing up - good ol' reliable Doug Miller is hard to beat when Vipha is not beating him.

Some wonder why OG gets the scores in quick... I'm Speedy Fontana.

Air Venturi  Venture into PCP. Tell how bad i am doing.

There are a huge number of supportive folks here. I have loved my TX200 and don't envision it ever leaving. I have loved it's accuracy.

I am an avid pb rimfire person as well. My Annie and CZs have filled that void. Alas my ancient Mossberg has as well. It is amazing.

So it seemed fitting, as I felt I was missing out, that I enter the PCP domain.

I love .177 so I stayed there. The Avenge-X seemed a good entry into this world. Base model for opening the door. It seems to have a fair bit of tweakability, like my CZ's, but I also realize it is not my Annie. I have a compressor and bottle are on the way with the X. Both Air Venturi.

So what am I about to hate about my decision? Let us get it over with.
