FX  M4 Trigger information

I would be interested to hear from a new M4 owner if the trigger is actually any different (better) and if it it retro upgradable to the mk1, mk2 and M3. It is the only aspect of the M4 that if it actually is a better unit would interest me. My MK2 has all the M3 upgrades (apart from 2nd Reg) and is fitted with the Airmarksman rail. The only thing I'd like to try is a solid (LW?) barrel, but they currently only make them in 14mm .177.

Steel targets

I have some scrap laying aroun and a plasma cutter i was thinking bout making a bunch of circles for gongs. Is there a standard size for distance. I was thinking bout a bunch of four inch amd 6 inch. Im gonna put fence posts at various distances and hang targets. Was thinking boit also making a shooting gallery with targets welded to hinges that would be portable i just dont know what would be the best sizes for them lol so if there is a standard its a good starting point

FX  FX Impact M4

I just ordered an Impact m4 sniper and I’m curious on what’s needed to shoot slugs effectively in it. I was told by the dealer that it comes with a barrel that can handle both slugs and pellets.
I’m not convinced that it will be a great slug shooter as I see for previous models they recommend getting a slug barrel a tungsten hammer and slug power kit.
Can someone let me know if I need to add any other accessories to the m4 to make it a rifle that handles slugs and pellets with the proper tune.

FX  Fist PCP....FX DRS....What Caliber Should I Get????

Hi,
I have been a springer .177 guy for years, but am considering my first PCP...an FX DRS Classic. This is in a new power range from what I am used to with 14 ft/pound springers. I am unsure of what caliber to get: .177, .22, or .25 for this gun. I have used the Chairgun app and compared the trajectory and wind drift for all three calibers at the velocities that FX claims for each caliber and the trajectories and wind drift data seems nearly identical for all three calibers (which I find to be very surprising).

What are your thoughts on choice of caliber? In a 50 foot/pound vs a 14 foot/pound rifle things are not the same I feel which makes me almost completely rule out .177. But then with a PCP there are other variables such as shot capacity and magazine size. And then there is always the variable about cost of pellets.

I would use the gun mostly for plinking in the yard, and some hunting. I might consider shooting some field target or other matches just for fun. I kind of feel that the .25 offers the best for hunting if the trajectory is similar to the other calibers since the larger pellet will have more lethality I would think. But on the other hand it means more expensive ammo and lower shot capacity.

I am kind of thinking that .22 may be the sweet spot and best compromise at this power level. What do you think? Also note that it appears that the .177 and .22 are a 500mm barrel while the .25 is a 600mm barrel. I am not sure if the .25 can shoot slugs or just pelltets.

Being new to the realm of PCPs the variables create a new situation that is different from my past choices with springers and i need to think this though and make an informed decision.

thanks for your help!!!

Other  New surprise!

Have a surprise coming soon. Mac1 called and a project is almost finished. As soon as it hits the porch the new arrival will have its first photo shoot. I'm like a kid a few days before the celebration of the birth of God's Son. And the famous phantom, Santa Clause. Hope the UPS gorillas don't damage it. Last thing to arrive from California out of the brown toy truck was a 1952 Green Hornet bicycle that was nearly destroyed. Taped and plastic wrapped to hold the parts in. It was in good condition before shipping and in a bike shipping box. Irreplaceable, a friend in the bike business charged me way less than he should have, $150.00. It looked like it had not ever been bent up. And now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Be Well Brothers, Bandito.

Fx usa closed? Where to get fx parts?

When I need parts for my fx impact, I used fx usa. But today I search fx usa and it says permanently closed. I did some Google search to see what's up and it talks about fx usa being sue to fraud or whatever. I don't really know the details but seem fx usa own companies $6 millions? Anyway what if our fx guns needs part, where the heck do we go for parts in the USA? I read some guys say Utah airgun but have you guys really check Utah airgun for parts? Cause I check and they got shtz. Their parts selection for fx impact is crap. Anyway I just want to buy the new fx m4 brass piston to replace my plastic piston on my mk2. Don't say look on Utah airgun cause like I said, they got shtz for parts. I am concerned about the future when I do need other parts for my fx guns. As of now I just need the brass piston. Where do I buy this brass piston that's on the m4?

HW/Weihrauch  Dream field target gun

I am a looking at a PCP to use in Field target. Both open and hunter. I have been shooting spring guns for many years and have a TX200 and Diana 48 for field target in the springer classes.

I am just starting to look at building a dream gun and scope combination. I can use all the help and opinions anyone wants to offer. I am concerned I am focusing on things that don’t matter and ignoring things that do.

First off I will get a compressor. Should I get a hand pump or a bottle ? Or both for field use.

Next I do all my own maintenance and tuning. To me that is the fun. Learning new things and the satisfaction of making something work for me is something I place value in. I’m a mechanic/ machinist and dable in watchmaking. I know when I can’t do something.

I really like Air Arms products but I have looked at other brands.

I have gone around and around with this for months if not years. But now I have the money to do something. So it’s getting serious. Fortunately everything is out of stock everywhere so I can wait. And take time.

I am in Iowa and the wind is my concern. I want a 20 ft lb gun to buck wind with slow moving heavier pellets.

First I looked at the HFT 500. I like it because it has an adjustable cheek piece. I like the option of a hamster and it is single shot competition rifle with a great reputation. Down side is 12 ft lb.

Same goes for the XTi-50. It’s a 12 ft. lb gun.

I looked at the S510 and the magazine loads from the left side. That interferes with the side wheel. So I am looking at the S500 xs extra.

But then I started to look at the HW 100. I can get that with a cheek riser and it has a thumb hole stock option that I kinda like.
Plus it loads single shot or magazine from the right side.

From what I read the HW100 is easy to work on and tune.

Is the HW100 trigger like the rekord in the hw97?

I don’t know how important a hamster is . Won’t use it for hunter and I have never used one in open.

My biggest question is how the two power levels deal with wind at longer range.

The real choice is the HW100 vs Air arms s500 I think. Both are beautiful. Don’t want a carbine . I don’t know why.

Scope is probably a Sightron SIII FT 10-50X60 With a second focal plane. Pretty set on that but not totally.

FX Dreamline POI shifts -HELP

Dreamline Classic .177 in Saber Tactical stock; Rowan single shot tray. Gun is 6 months old, only about 500 pelllets through it, got it from Utah Airguns. I've reached out a few times to them, crickets, no reply. POI shifts after every +- 30 shots, up to about an inch, left, right, up, down, basically all around the clock:
- Checked action screws, all tight
-Barrel feels tight in action
-Brand new Hawke scope, rings tight
-Velocity constant 898-903fps from 220bar down to 150bar; 10.3gr Premiers
-Removed barrel band, issue still there
-Removed material above the picatinny rail on fore end so that rail doesn't touch air tube, issue still there

Any ideas? POI shifts are my pet hate, if I can't get this thing to shoot consistentlly it'll be the end of the FX chapter for me.

N/A  air gun moderator

Coming from HPA airsoft. A typical gun is 110db. I notice that pcp guns is about the same. Why is most 3d printed moderator has printed baffles and not some sort of foam? I changed from printed baffling to foam in my HPA gun and went from 100db to 64. I noticed lot of videos pcp is dropping only in the 70s. What makes the pcp different,is it the pressure difference?

GX CS2 Mini Mini-Review: JUNK!

So I just got this GX CS2 Mini and plugged it into my new Avenger Bullpup, it got up to 3,000 PSI and burst a disk, then kept bursting them, even two at a time, so it's going straight back to Bezos. Well, at least I can test this bullpup to some degree for now.

Like I said, this is a mini-review for a mini hunk of junk. Darn, I'm getting sick of these compressors failing.

FX  FX Impact M4 Won't Cock

Hey guys. My new M4 was barely cocking and then about 20 shot in it stopped cocking all together. How would I fix that? Settings are as it came out of the box. Pictured below. Shooting 18.1 at 890 FPS. Not great groups at 38 yards with JSB and FX. Was about to try AEA but won't cock now. (also see mystery screw I found on Patio a few posts down).

I'm no mathematician, so I asked ChatGPT to calculate the number of refills I can get from a 6.8L bottle to a 0.3L bottle

For the Amazon sale, I invested in a much, much larger bottle for bench and field refills - previously I had a dinky 0.5L bottle and wasn't very impressed.

I had set some triggers to tell me when the bottle (and carrying case) I had eyeballed, went on sale, and pulled the trigger on the new bottle before really doing the math. How many refills would I get out of the new gear? I could guess by taking what I was getting from the 0.5L bottle and scaling up, but that'd be a real shot in the dark number.

I have mathematician friends, to ask, but I didn't want to feel like a dolt in front of them... so? ChatGPT to the rescue. I know there are others here that are curious about this very thing - so here's how ChatGPT solved for refills of 150BAR each and end pressure for both bottles once they reach equilibrium pressure (150-180BAR):

To determine how many times you can refill the 300cc bottle from the 6.8L vessel and the pressure at which both vessels will equalize, we need to apply the principles of gas laws, specifically the ideal gas law and the concept of conservation of mass for gases.

Given data:
- Volume of small vessel (V1) = 300cc = 0.3L
- Volume of large vessel (V2) = 6.8L
- Initial pressure in both vessels (P0) = 300 BAR
- Refill pressure (P_refill) = 150 BAR

We will assume that the temperature remains constant and the gas behaves ideally. This means we can use the ideal gas law \( PV = nRT \), where \( n \) is the number of moles of gas, \( R \) is the gas constant, and \( T \) is the temperature.

### Step 1: Calculate the total moles of gas initially
Initially, both vessels are at 300 BAR.

The total initial volume is:
\[ V_{total} = V1 + V2 = 0.3 \text{ L} + 6.8 \text{ L} = 7.1 \text{ L} \]

Since pressure and volume are directly proportional to the number of moles at constant temperature, the total initial moles \( n_{total} \) are:
\[ n_{total} = \frac{P0 \cdot V_{total}}{RT} \]

However, we don't need to calculate \( n_{total} \) explicitly since we are considering the pressure changes relative to the volume.

### Step 2: Calculate the moles required for a single refill
Each time you refill the small vessel from 150 BAR to 300 BAR:
\[ P1_{initial} = 150 \text{ BAR} \]
\[ P1_{final} = 300 \text{ BAR} \]

The pressure difference is:
\[ \Delta P = P1_{final} - P1_{initial} = 300 \text{ BAR} - 150 \text{ BAR} = 150 \text{ BAR} \]

The volume of the small vessel is 0.3L. So, the moles needed for each refill (using \( PV = nRT \)) are proportional to:
\[ \Delta n = \frac{\Delta P \cdot V1}{RT} = \frac{150 \cdot 0.3}{RT} = \frac{45}{RT} \]

### Step 3: Calculate how many refills can be done
Let's denote the pressure in the large vessel after \( n \) refills as \( P2_n \).

After each refill, the pressure in the large vessel drops slightly. We can approximate the number of refills \( n \) by considering the total pressure drop required in the large vessel to provide the necessary amount of gas.

Since the initial pressure in the large vessel is 300 BAR, and assuming \( n \) refills, the total volume to fill for each refill is:
\[ n \cdot \Delta n = n \cdot \frac{45}{RT} \]

Each time we refill, we are effectively using the gas from the large vessel and reducing its pressure. The volume of the large vessel is 6.8L.

The total pressure drop required from the large vessel is equal to the initial pressure of 300 BAR minus the final equalized pressure \( P_{eq} \).

Let's denote the final equalized pressure as \( P_{eq} \). The pressure drop for each refill will be distributed over the large volume. Therefore, the total pressure drop is approximated by:

\[ \Delta P_{total} = n \cdot \frac{45}{6.8} \]

Since the pressure in both vessels will equalize, we can set up the following equation to find \( P_{eq} \):
\[ P_{eq} \cdot (V1 + V2) = P0 \cdot V2 - n \cdot \frac{45}{6.8} \cdot V2 \]

Given the initial and final conditions, the final pressure in the combined system must be such that:
\[ P_{eq} = \frac{300 \cdot 6.8 - n \cdot 45}{6.8 + 0.3} \]

By solving this equation iteratively or through more complex algebraic manipulation, we can find \( n \) and \( P_{eq} \).

### Step 4: Simplify and Calculate
In practical terms, for each refill, you use some gas from the large vessel, and you can solve iteratively:

After the first refill:
\[ P_{2,1} = \frac{300 \cdot (6.8 - 0.3)}{6.8} \]

Continue iteratively to find the maximum \( n \) where \( P_{2,n} \geq 150 \).

Without going into deep algebraic detail, by approximations and iterative calculations:
You can refill approximately 10-12 times before the pressure drops significantly in the large vessel.

To find exact values, we would set up a spreadsheet or a program to solve this iteratively or numerically, but an approximate answer for your question is:
- **Number of refills**: Approximately 10-12 times.
- **Equalization pressure**: Approximately between 150-180 BAR depending on the exact calculations.

For precise answers, computational tools or more iterative manual calculations would be necessary.

This concludes my TEDTalk for today!

Cheers,
Your friend Mark
