Kalibrgun  Well this sucks

I bought a Cricket that was recently posted in the classifieds. I knew going in that it had a leak or issue with the reg. Upon disassembly I found a divot in the air tube. Looks like someone drilled into it by accident when they were doing their ham fisted air-gunsmithing. By the way, this rifle looks like Edward scissor hands was working on it. But for the price, the scratches and tacky, diy gold painted trim didn’t bother me. What does bother me is a divot that might be comprising the structural integrity of the air tube! I was going to fix this up and sell it but there’s no way it’s being sold with that little crater. I’d rather take the loss than sell it to someone and they get injured from a faulty air tube. The same way I respect the danger of riding my motorcycle is the same way I respect HPA. It’s easy to get complacent after a while of dealing with HPA (or riding) and having no incidents. But the danger is always lurking. Waiting for you slip up.

Side note: There’s no way the AGN member that sold it to me knew about it. He doesn’t work on airguns. So I’m not going to try and return it. The guy he bought it from does work on them and is a reputable member over on GTA. I don’t know if he did all this hamfistery. If he did, then he sold this rifle knowing this damn thing had a divot in the air tube. I really hope he wasn’t the one that did this and sold it knowingly.

I’m no mechanical engineer so I may be over reacting about this divot. But my gut says don’t trust it.

IMG_1310.jpeg

Here’s a BB comfortably nestled in the divot.

IMG_1309.jpeg

***Well I see how they made the divot. It happened when they were drilling the hole for a sling stud. The sling stud hole and divot perfectly match up. So this wasn’t some factory defect.

N/A  Lightened Piston

Hi Folks,
I am considering replacing the piston in my HW97 or TX200 with a lightened factory piston. My goal is to dampen the shot cycle and reduce hold sensitivity while keeping power at about 10-12fpe for target shooting at 50+ yards. I tried a shortstroke spacer and also leaving out the steel tophat but that didnt improve performance. Is a lightweight piston worth trying? I appreciate any help with this.

Compressor leaking. Need help with this fitting.

So my hatsan light compressor is leaking from this fitting. I have taken it apart and polish it and put it back as tight as I can but still leaking. This is the only part it is leaking from and I can not stop the leak no matter what. What is these steel pipe fitting call? I notice they have no o rings and only metal to metal. So I'm guessing they seal by fraction or compression? Since hatsan have discontinued this compressor they don't have parts for it anymore and I can't find it online. Anyone know where I can get this L shape tube fitting?

PCP Rifle  NLA WTS LCS SK19 30 Caliber

NO LONGER AVAILABLE- DECIDED TO KEEP, THANKS FOR LOOKING

Hard for me to let this one go, but I’m being honest with myself in the solid fact that it truly never gets used to its full potential. The other day I asked myself how many rounds I’ve put thru it since acquiring it, and an honest guess would be about 15 whole mags worth of shots, so at around 255 shots(the 30 caliber mags on these are 17, all others 19). Most of those were times when my none pcp hobbyist friends came over and I’d let them entertain themselves by unloading 17 shots in less than 4 seconds in full auto. The final straw was me trying to load it the other day. I lost the feeling in my first three fingers from a 2021 cervical neck fusion, and I keep dropping pellets while trying to load this. Very frustrating.

I bought this beauty thru the classifieds, but it was brand new, unused, when the owner sold it to me. He unboxed it upon delivery just to post pics of it to sell, so I consider myself the true first user of this gun.

I recently set the tune at 860 fps from the 965 I had it at. If you’ve never tuned one of these it is the easiest platform to tune, just turn one knob CW or CCW while shooting thru a chronograph. The regulator has never been touched as reccomended by the factory. It’s never been out of my garage where it’s always been shot from. it’s truly been neglected by me just hardly using it. Other than the factory recall on the full auto toggle lever that AOA replaced, it’s been 100% flawless in function and leak free. It’s been kept at the just under the factory spec fill pressure setting of 250 bar in all the time I’ve owned it(230 bar is what I store all my unused PCP’s at, which is to allow for temp fluctuations)
I’ll post two links that are treads I started on this gun showing all I’ve done to it, and post up current pics by tomorrow. Current upgrades are a complete stainless fastener conversion. A DFL adapter so any 1/2-20 threaded moderator can be used, a secure method to make servicing the barrel off of the gun much easier when replacing, and a 3D fabricated custom adapter so a Saber Tactical rear monopod could be used for bench shooting.
I have the original o ring set from the factory along with a complete set enough to reseal the entire gun at least 25 times, and the K&L custom shoulder butt attachment that I never used and it’s still in its original box, an Ergo deluxe tactical grip with palm shelf.

All the factory pieces like the original hand grip, fasteners, etc, will be a part of this sale. It will ship in its original factory case and box from AOA. It will also come with the original owners manual and misc paperwork.
Disclosure- the 700cc bottle has decals on it, so I will be reinstalling the factory 500cc bottle back on for the sale.

The athlon scope and mount is not included in this sale. Asking price will be $1500, which covers shipping. I accept PayPal in F&F or G&S, in which the buyer would cover all the fees. The gun will not ship until I see the funds in my account. All standard stuff when buying in the AGN classifieds. No shipping overseas, only selling to folks in the CONUS.

As far as ammo, It shoots the 44.75 Haydes the best.

Here are my two treads on my initial set up of this platform-

Pics are here- does not come with scope, scope mounts, 700cc bottle, the REKON ARCA adapter, or the STO Faux moderator wrapped in red vinyl. It will come with the factory mod and the DFL adapter so you can mount any 1/2-20 threaded mod.

N/A  Contemplating a Big Bore Bush Gun

Sometimes situations arise that require specific or specialty tools. I’m interested in suggestions for a bush gun- something compact that I can shoulder and shoot at short range in tight spaces like thickets, heavy undergrowth, a pine sappling stand, etc. Might sound strange, but it’s what I want. If I can find something less than 30 inches that would be great! So far I’ve considered:

Evanix Rex-P in .45 (super compact)
AEA Element in .45

Just something I’ve been thinking about on and off. What else can y’all suggest?

Texan 457 Gotta Buck Graphic

I had this rifle for several years and finally this morning it got it's buck, I've been hunting public land that was over hunted last year opening day I heard maybe 6 shots but a lady at my church has some land an gave me permission to hunt on it, opening morning Saturday the 16th I saw 4 does and this buck but did get a shot didn't hunt Sunday. Went yesterday morning I was in the stand for 5 hours never saw anything, got in the stand a little after 6am today a hour and a half I looked over my right shoulder a saw this fellow coming up behind me with his nose to the ground, when he got even with me he looked up and then walked a few feet stopped looked up again didn't like what he saw and bolted I'm thinking dang but he stopped again in about 15 yards just 25 yards in front of my with a quarter align perfect shot align I put one of my 280gr Noe HP slugs in him, he ran about 50 yards an laid down for his last Dirt Nap. That 280gr made a mess of his lungs after going through a rib exited through a rib offside through the shoulder and found the slug under the hide, what a Great hunt for me and the Texan. He was between the small tree and the larger one on the right looking straight over my rifle.

FX  What is a new Crown MK2 22/500 factory settings

My new crown 22/500 is scheduled to arrive late next week. I intend to follow what I see recommended on this site by shooting it at least 4 or 500 rounds at the factory settings to break it in before tuning it to it;'s pellet choice. My first question is... can someone who has one tell me what the factory setting will be on it when I receive it? Can you also tell me at those setting what fps it will likely shoot a 18.1 pellet? I have other guns so will be deciating this gun to shooting at 50 to 65 yards, seldon ever more. Could someone who owns one share with me your setting for this range shooting of this gun. Thank You.

Centerfire v. Air…

My second string as a n00b and wanted to air something out to make sure I’m not crazy.

I got into air rifles on a whim after realizing my daughter liked shooting and is a good shot. I only have one NFA can in 22LR because it took 354 days to receive it, and that turned me off from getting more (although approvals are much, much faster as of late). After seeing that I could get multiple cans (moderators) without any NFA BS to shoot in my backyard, I looked further into it.

Then, when I bought my first air rifle (Bulldog M357 because I have lead/molds as a reloader) with a DonnyFL can and saw how awesome today’s PCP weapons are, I got hooked.

I also have many conventional pistols and rifles but don’t shoot them because I never have time to drive to a range. So, I’m selling most of my collection of regular arms save for some standards in the principal calibers, and going all-in on air rifles. I just really like the idea of shooting all the way up to a 50 CAL and doing so inexpensively in my backyard, with family if they so choose!

Did anyone else make that choice to switch from mostly centerfire to mostly air, and if yes, why?

Am I missing something?

Same gun, one is new, and one is used. Yet the used gun is more expensive..why though? Am I missing something?

Taipan  I got my thermal with night vision yesterday!

I got my DNT TNC225R ThermNight yesterday! I zeroed it last night in complete darkness. Ever since I got into airguns 5 years ago, I've always wanted the ability to shoot at night. I didn't get into it until now because I wanted it all on one unit; thermal, night vision, laser rangefinder with ballistics. This is the first unit I came across with that had everything that I was looking and doesn't cost $5,000+++

Yes, the 256 thermal sensor can be better, but honestly, for what I'm using it for, it's more than good enough. I see a heat signature blob and focus in on it with the visuals to identify and take the shot.

I didn't shoot the chipmunk in the photo below, but at 35 meters away, the animal was very obvious in the thermal. I wouldn't have otherwise saw this chipmunk if not for the thermal. As I was watching the chipmunk frolic around, there were multiple instances where thermal was picking up the heat signature through the brush even though I don't have visuals at all. Without thermal, I could have stared at that spot for 10 minutes and not see the animal at all.

PCP Rifle  NLA WTT Custom .22 Kalibr Cricket Tactical 60

Hey All,

Bought this a week or so ago thinking I was going to be mister slug shooter and while this gun is PHENOMENAL at that, for my uses pellets just fit the bill better….

This is a custom .22 Kalibr Cricket 60 (long). This was donated for an EBR prize a couple years back.

Has a custom 700mm (stock are 600) 17.7 twist, 12 groove, no choke barrel.

Currently at a reg setting of right at 120 (ish) bar I am shooting the Daystate Howlers at 965, accuracy and consistency is amazing and with a 300 bar fill the shot count is through the roof. Can easily tune for heavier slugs. Shoots the Monster Redesigns, JTS 22.07 and 18.13 just as accurate simply by adjusting the hammer spring adjuster.

Has a custom paint job and wood grips as well.

Comes with 2 magazines, fill probe

Scope, rings, bipod, moderator not included

Pic below shows TWO 7 shot groups at 33 yards with the Howlers as well as a quick string showing the consistency (did not adjust the weight for the Howlers so the FPE does not show correctly).

Nothing really in mind trade wise so just let me know what you have to offer and we can go from there!

what causes this to pellets/slugs? casting?

was washing some pellets today i use a commercial jewelry cleaner.
was kind of surprised to see this on slugs
i have seen it on some pellets chp/ jsb not so bad and not any in the 2 tins of Jts pellets?
the worst was my favorite slugs well group the best so far, the fx hybrid 26g
none of the Zan slugs did this?
Neilson's out of a box only had a few 5 not bad the one box of the fx hybrids 28 out of 100.
is this corrosion or casting now i see where possibly the fliers come from possibly? or dirty the barrel?

Squirrels and Tractor Supply fault

I have posted the start of my pellet gun story already but this is to address my impression of my first air gun experience. We have plenty of gun stores in my Albany NY area but try to find an air gun. Online a hour or two before finding Tractor Supply had 2 different Umarex’s.
Knowing nothing about them figured they would be cheap junky toy. Bought the 2 different pellet tins they had and home to unbox.
The rifle came with a scope which I assumed was unusable. Was pretty impressed sure didn’t look or feel like a toy. The rifle is a Synergis
Elite 22. I thought I loaded the mag right but ended up dry firing,, holy poop this is a loud as a standard velocity 22lr ,, spark flying ( dieseling
I guess) hummm sort of defeats the purpose. Might as well use Anguilla sss subsonic 22lr to not alert the neighbors. Anyway went to cellar to
sight in. Much quieter with ammo in it… haa!
This very inexpensive gun is really all I would ever need if I was only using it as a pest deterrent. I changed the included scope for a cheap,
junk but slightly better Meuller 4x14 I had. At 40 feet it puts selected pellets in one ragged hole. I know that doesn’t impress and to put it in
perspective for myself I shot my Sako Quad with Lilja barrel set up for silhouette and sporter bench rest. This shot a 22 caliber round hole.

Well that started it. That was the 3rd of November. So in 17 days I have accumulated 1 Umarex rifle, 1 Reximex rpa pistol, hand pump,
my first red dot sight, buck rail suppressor, bullet trap, $200 cheap Amazon compressor and a dozen various pellet tins.
A pcp rifle and new scope on the way.

Shot shed update

Well we finally got to Sub zero ( C ) temperatures here, the shed heat sources did well but really we need to have smaller openings to shoot out of on these really cold days.
Also insulation would not hurt, so come spring / summer i think i will have to put some of that on the roof at least.

Mind you Tuesday evening combined with 2 heat sources going and -2 deg C outside, inside we had a nice temperature of 20 - 24 deg C, but we can not maintain that with 2 lanes going even if just 50% opened, so something to easy narrow that opening will have to be worked out, so far i have just propped up stuff ( see video )

Never the less, this new shed is leagues better than the old setup, so i am still pegging this as a big WIN.

A little video from today, dialing rifle back to speeds handling the 10.4gr JTS pellets.

Last night 2 critters fell victim to me, first one of the small ones, and then a little later sitting talking after dinner i saw big fat one on CCTV, so i excused myself and went into sniper mode in the shed.
And 5 minutes later i got my #2 kill of the night.

Events  Ultimate Field Target match at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club on 11/23/24

Big news for UFT @ PRGC!

This month will be the first of Ben's new format.

He has been working hard and added a third target to each lane, and restructured to allow a broader range of airguns to be competitive.

It seems more complicated than it really is but I'll take a stab at making it clear....

Three targets, near, middle and far.
If you're under 20 foot pounds (think AAFTA) you can shoot the near and middle targets for some good practice.
If you're under 50 foot pounds you can shoot all three, for what Ben's calling "the full Monty," resulting in a 72 shot match. That's lots of shooting!
If you're 50-100 foot pounds, you can shoot the middle and far targets for a "long range/high power match."

No allowance for greater than 50fpe will be allowed for the full Monty. IE zero tolerance policy for fpe greater than 50fpe. This is for protecting the new/nearest targets.

So, rimfire and high powered slugs can still come shoot a 48 shot high power match. AAFTA guys can come practice. Guys with hunting rigs in that sweet spot of .22 and 30-35fpe can come shoot without needing a very expensive scope and all the paraphernalia that comes with AAFTA field target classes. Essentially, if you've got an airgun, come shoot a match, simple as that.

We're not sure how the chips are gonna fall with participation in each class but it'll be fun to find out. Also, we'll continue keeping the slug and pellet classes. As an example, you pellet shooters don't have to shoot against @steve123 and his 49fpe Altaros slugs that did so well last month.

Here's the kill zone sizes and distances and Troyer factors. Don't look if you're an AAfTA guy. 😁.
Screenshot_20241119-034627.png

Yep, there's some dang tough targets in that mix, but also some relatively easy ones. Those AAFTA illegal Troyers sound pretty "Ultimate" to me. And yes, that opens up a bunch of strategizing for the full monty....do you stick with small calibers to squeak em in the tiny kzs? Or do you go with a bigger caliber with a better BC for better hit rates on the long range shots? Choices choices.

In the past I've shot my best scores when using my personal rangefinder during the match. So if you figure your dope with a specific rangefinder I'd suggest bringing that to use during the match.

As always, sign up via Practiscore, linked here on the PRGC calendar, as well as some more of the particulars for the match.

We apologize for such short notice on the match announcement. Ben wasn't sure if he was going to get that third target in for this month so we were holding out on the announcement. He does much of the work himself and he's just one guy.
