Crosman  30 cal 2300 carbine

I figured since crosman is possibly going the way of the 🦤, and parts are already getting hard to find for this beloved platform, I decided to go all out one last time.

I parted out my 357 Mrod a couple weeks ago and kept the parts that would carry over to the 22xx guns. The boyds stock, bottle, trigger, and scope all were harvested.

Started with a 2300 tube since it's not roll stamped and can withstand 3k psi with the right valve screws. I installed a magnum airpower discovery valve along with his 180k screws and drop block. Tossed in a polymer core hammer also from Bill @ Magnum.

I wanted a mag fed setup and side lever, but the only one I could find was the one from the maker in Russia. He only had a 30 cal breech left so I said what the heck, and snatched it up.

Then I needed a barrel with a 15mm OD. I bought a 30 cal Kral big horn barrel and cut it down to 12", made a shroud and modified a moderator to fit inside and also vent into the shroud.

Almost complete, just needs some touchs on the bluing and final shape of the front of the stock, but she's up and running. Stacking 50 grain JSBs at 20 feet so far. Not far, but I wanted to see if it was clipping or not.

Not the most powerful, but still giving me 24 shots on the regulator (2400 psi) and roughly 635fps/45 fpe. The cool part, it's quiet enough for backyard shooting and it's only 36" OAL. The weight is balanced pretty center, maybe a fudge to the rear which is better than forward.

Hopefully this will work well out to 50 yards without too much of a wonky trajectory. Hoping to use this at my dad's on Turkey day on his army of grey squirrels.

Brocock/BRK  BRK Pathfinder XR…🙈

This PCP is simply blowing my mind, I’ve been lucky to have contrasted it to my Atomic prior to receiving a Ghost Carbine. I had a big scope on the Pathfinder which made it unwieldy. Once I downsized that scope? The gun simply shoned, light in weight, but outsized in utility with at least twice the shot count of my Atomic. I really loved my Bantam Sniper HR and the Pathfinder, a direct descendant, simply reminded me of that today. I was plinking wine corks, cut in half from 25 to 50 yards. The pictured cans at 102 yards? Consecutive hits, 7 MILs of holdover and 1 MIL of holdoff for wind. I knocked them down multiple times today. Best part all with inexpensive CPHPs…😂 Simply foolish plinking of course. The “consistent” and “repeatable” hits still astound me… The Pathfinder has provided me many, many kills… It was briefly overshadowed by my Ghost, but she simply holds her own.

Tuning  Realistically, how do you all keep up with the slug dream??

I've been sorta dabbling in slugs the past few months. Not really doing any serious tuning as my gun is first and foremost a backyard varmint gun. .22 / 30 FPE. I'm not really willing to tune the gun specifically for slugs. However, I've been trying different slugs just to see what sticks with the current tune. So far not much luck and I've just about given up. I understand that without proper tuning, I'll never get acceptable results. According to the manufacturer, my gun has a CZ unchoked barrel.

Now, I just ordered another gun that I'm intending to tune much higher for times I can get to more open areas. .25 / 50 to 55 FPE. The gun also has an unchoked CZ barrel according to the manufacturer. My issue is... ok, even if I'm willing to put in the time, effort, and money trying to find the proper slugs for the barrel and actually tune properly... and let's say I actually find the magic slug for my gun, is my only option then is to buy a butt load of said slugs? What happens in the future when I run out and the manufacturer had changed the specifications? Does the process just have to repeat itself? How do you all keep up with such a predicament?

The more I read into slugs, the more I realize just how sensitive they are even with barrels that are marketed and sold as "slug barrels". Acceptable accuracy for me is at least a US penny size group at 50 meters.

It's not easy and it's not cheap.

JTS  JTS Brawn

Evening everyone,

I was watching YouTube last night and saw a review of a bull pup called the JTS Brawn. I’ve been thinking hard on a bull pup and gotten some suggestions here but was not familiar with this one. It looks very accurate with group sizes under 1/2moa at 40 yards. A bit heavy but seems to have a lot going for it including the price. Has anyone here bought this rifle? Where is it available? I’m thinking Christmas is coming….

Brocock/BRK  Atomic .177 with Air Superiority power wheel

I picked up a lovely BRK Atomic carbine a month back here on AGN.
Plan was to create an alternative <12 fpe HFT pistol.
It came to me shooting 8.4’s at <12 fpe but I wanted to shoot 13.4’s to buck the wind better.
AOA has a division called Air Superiority which makes an add on adjustable power wheel (hammer spring adjuster) which allows you to remove the carbine stock for pistol conversion.
This morning I removed the stock and installed the power adjuster SUPER EASY!
Voila I now have an Atomic pistol.
The transfer port has 3 settings, low, medium, high and the powerful wheel has ???? Let’s just say 8 as for my purposes I took it to max to tune and do my comparative chrono tests with 3 different weight pellets and worked my way down.
I ended up leaving the power wheel at 8 as it was very accurate with 13.4’s with transfer port wide open and power wheel on 8. For HFT pistol class I will reduce as appropriate to be sub <12 fpe.
Zero was at 25 yards and my group at that distance was 3/8”. If you study my work sheet below, it gives all the specifics.
I used the magazine for all my testing.
Although I have to remove the moderator to be hft pistol legal, it’s crazy quiet with this Weihrauch attached.
If anyone else has this setup I’d be interested in hearing about your settings and results.

PCP Rifle  NLA WTS .25 Kalibr Cricket

Hi All,

This is a classic .25 Kalibr Cricket, this gun was built/tuned by Rocker1 (some of you may know him from another forum but he makes custom moderators and is a damn good tuner).

Gun has a HUMA regulator, comes with 2 magazines and fill probe.

Currently tuned for the 33.95 at 900 and is absolutely laser accurate! Slug wise the MK2 Knockouts as well as ZAN 30 grain shoot phenomenal well….

Gun has custom baffles in the shroud and the pellet hitting the target is louder than the shot!

It is not a safe queen by any means (has some dings here and there and the shroud end cap was notched when he did the regulator install).

I would say 680 shipped is fair.

RTI  Huma reg help

Updated since original question…
Because I started getting help before I could start I over, I’ll recreate this mostly…

I’m trying to install the Huma reg on my Prophet 1, and running into some issues. It appears I’m through the first couple issues, and now dealing with something...

The bottle gauge on the Huma shoots straight up to whatever the fill pressure is in the external fill tank when you try to fill the gun and stays there when connected. As soon as I disconnect, the bottle gauge drops to around 100bar and stays there.

While connected, for over 5 minutes, both external fill bottle reg and gun reg stay on 230/220. Neither drops at all… until I disconnect and Huma bottle reg drops to 100 bar.

Update: after removing the parts and putting them back together less tight, I think that worked… everything is getting air and staying stable. I’ll check again later today when I have more air.

Final update: I think all is good after taking apart the new parts and putting them back together and keeping the parts loose.

Please help this newbie

Hello all, as I'm sure you read all the time I am new to air rifles. I am looking for a rifle between 200-300, scope is irrelevant as I have a scope rated for an air gun already. I am looking for the purpose of back yard pest removal. Preferably something in 22-25 Cal that can live in my truck. After doing my basic research I learned two things. One everyone who has taken then time to sign up on a forum hates the box store piston driven guns which was my primary plan. And two I found the Benjamin 392 which seemed near perfect until I realized it's been discontinued for a bit. Please keep in mind being quiet is very important for my needs. I even plan to paint parts of it orange before I get calls from neighbors about being out with a gun. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can get a 2 inch group at 50 yards that would be more then enough for my needs. If I am totally off base with my hopes and dreams then that is useful information too. Thanks for all the help.

Armadillo Down

I’ve been gunning for these buggers for a while. I just took my thermal scope out of its mount to use it for another scope and didn’t mount the thermal scope in another mount. So I went out with a thermal hand scanner, a hog light, and later I came back and grabbed my ScanPro headlamp.

I was scanning my yard for dillos and got wheezed at by a deer that startled me. I made my own animal noise back and then clicked on my rifle mounted torch. She looked back for a few seconds and walked off. I took the time to record some thermal images of her. I began to scan my yard again. That’s when I spotted a small body through some brush and grass at the corner of my yard and an adjacent property. I had to have been at least 50 yards away. Then I made my way to the fence line and saw something crossing the adjacent property through the tall grass. I thought it might be a cat with its long tail stretched straight out. I decided to investigate, so I maneuvered around to get a gander from a different angle. I followed as it crossed two different properties. Then I saw it doing something in the grass. I really thought it was a cat that had caught something and was playing with it in the grass. Then it lifted its head as it was looking in my direction that’s when I realized it was an armadillo. It was easily identified by its head profile and ears. It moved through the grass and hit a clearing it as it walked. I leaned against a post, clicked on my rifle mounted torch’s pressure switch, and squeezed the trigger. Damn it!!! My safety was on. So I clicked it off, thermal scanner dangling from my wrist and I’m trying not to hit it against anything and scare off my quarry. I pressed the trigger and popped off a shot broadside before it walked back into the tall grass. 💥Pop💥 the shot was unusually loud or maybe it was just that quiet tonight. The dillo jumped and scurried off into the treeline. Once it got in there, it sort of hung out between some tree trunks. I watched it for a little while through my thermal scanner as it moved rather slowly before settling. I figured it’d be dead by the morning. I went back home, conversed a while, and said I wanted to go back out and check the yard before I go to bed.

When I went back out I grabbed my ScanPro headlamp and a hat. I scanned my yard and still saw nothing. Then I made my way back down the road scanning various properties. There are only a couple that I don’t hunt. I returned to the property where I’d shot the dillo and saw another one through my thermal scanner. This one was beneath the trailer and I kept half circling the trailer trying to catch it clear of the tires. Once it looked clear I clicked on my headlamp to be sure. Once there were no obstructions, I turned on the rifle mounted torch.l, then my IR (illuminated reticle. I took a shot. “Shhhmack!!!” That’s a hit! It turned around beneath the trailer and whimpered (like a faint squeak) I tried to line up another shot and let it have another. It began to skeedadle and made its way beneath the trailer towards the opposite side.

I tracked it by circling to the rear so I had a view of the other side. I grabbed my my scanner again and saw it head into a bush, then beneath an old broken ramp. I circled around the ramp and put both lights on it, then I adjusted my parallax to 10 yards, backed up until it was in focus in my scope, held over 6 MOA and let him have another one. He piled up deep under the ramp to where I could not see it.
IMG_6928.jpeg

I watched for movement for a while and saw none. I went up the road to check another property. I caught some movement from a property I don’t bother with, but I watched. I thought it might be a cat, but I tracked it through my thermal scanner as it crossed the road. I practiced a little stalking to get close in order to ID it and turns out it was a possum. I slung my rifle back over my shoulder and just observed the possum for a while. The worst I saw it do was use the bathroom in the grass and check a bird feeder for seed.

After leaving the possum, I went back to the other property. Again I saw a dillo hanging around the underside of the trailer. I followed it half-circling the trailer again before deciding to get in front of it with the wind blowing right to left so that it couldn’t smell me. I kneeled down and tried to line my rifle up with the thermal scanner. This was a bit tricky. I switched on the torch and checked my scanner again. It was hard to see with a little vegetation around it in the dirt. Once I located it in my scope, I thumped him broadside. I heard it wince and shot again. It fell over on its side and scooted up a little. I shot again and I could hear it whining so I shot until it was quiet (about another two shots). Keep in mind that my range is all by estimate for the most part. My parallax wheel is set at 25 yards.

If you look to the right of the red bowl you’ll see part of the body with a red streak of blood running down the amor. That’s a dead dillo.
IMG_6926.jpeg

I have to fish it out tomorrow. I expect to find another dead one in the treeline. I hope all of these weren’t the same dillo because I’m tired of them digging in my yard.
