Only target shooting, do you re-zero for shooting each distance?

For instance I shoot only 25/50/100 yd targets? If I’m zeroed at 25 I end up with a mil-dot at 50 which I feel is problematic to my accuracy. 😕 does it hurt a scope to be adjusting all the time? Last question if anyone is reading this far... Do you find you have to adjust the zero every time you re-torque certain screws on the gun? In this case it’s a super accurate HW30S. 😬

Leishy info

I have been wondering about the Edgun Leishy. The reviews I have seen carry it pretty high. Could someone who owns one tell me if it is as accurate and dependable as the reviewers are saying. It certainly has a lofty price tag. I would also like to know if it is backyard friendly with the factory moderator. The long version in .25 has caught my eye. My GK1 is in danger of being swapped out.

New guy from Texas

Hello! Long time powder burner but I cut my teeth on a Crosman 760 and 38T as a kid starting in the late-70s. My interest in airguns waned over the years until the club I belonged to hosted the Texas Airgun Show a few years ago. Since then I've kept them in the back of my mind but didn't do more than watch the occasional American Airgunner episode on Youtube or scan a forum every so often. About a month or so ago I was tasked with thinning the backyard squirrel population. Apparently they buggered up the lines for our internet and broke a couple of knick knacks in the backyard. That was the final straw for my wife who went from "Oh, do we really have to kill them?" to "Terminate with extreme prejudice!".

In my usual "Ready! Fire! Aim!" style I've already ordered a Diana Chaser kit in .22 but I don't know what I don't know yet. Max range will be a paced off 15 yards. My current thinking is to run it in pistol form or possibly pistol barrel with factory stock. I'm already planning on a Buck Rail optic mount (52 year old eyes don't like open sights anymore) and moderator for the pistol barrel.

The biggest head scratcher for me right now is pellet weight. I realize these things are like a rimfire in that each one is a law unto itself and you have to try multiple types/brands/weights of ammo to find what they like. I'm thinking of starting with the JSB Diablo Hades (15.8gn IIRC). Does that seem reasonable? Assuming the accuracy is there, is it enough for an ethical 15yd kill?

Thanks for any and all assistance on this and I'll keep searching and reading the forum in the meantime!

FX  Increasing velocity with the Impact M4 Sniper .25 cal

Having watched a lot of YouTube videos and read a lot of threads on here about the ‘best’ way to increase speed I feel I need a sense check.
My M4 from factory (.25 cal Sniper) came with the reg set at 100 bar, the Macro set at 16, micro at around 2.8 (as best I can tell) and the valve looked around 5 (if there was a line for 5).
With JSB Hades it chrony’d at 780 fps (Garmin X1).
I’ve not played with the reg or macro just the micro and turned up to about 3.5 and was getting 930 fps or there abouts. Shot to shot SD was around 3 and spread was closer to 13 over 10 shot groups.
So, the question I have is: am I asking too much by just raising the micro to achieve these speeds (or higher) or should I be increasing reg pressure instead and then putting the macro on around 8 and adjusting from there?
I plan on bringing the valve back to just over 4 and then tweaking backwards once I’ve got the speed where I want it (about 20fps higher than end goal).
The pellet port is currently in use.
I’ve got a heap of Hades but would like to see if I can get some lighter weight slugs to shoot half decent without going down the slug liner so I think I need to get up to around 950fps or 980 fps.
Any thoughts?
Cheers.

Other  New Taipan Standard .22

Well my Taipan came today about 1pm no pics looks like any other grey Standard 2, put a scope on it(BURRIS DROPTINE 4.5X14) and had it zeroed in at 32 yds in less then 5 shots. Gun seems to be accurate with JSB 18.1 gr pellets and is avg around 919fps on my chrony.
I have to get used to shooting a bullpup again so cant say its more accurate then my other guns which are all very accurate.

I just ran a shot string till it dropped off regulator and I got approx 78 shots before it dropped off. there were a few blanks fired and a few chrony errors that I counted in that.. I had a actual 71 shots recorded when it dropped off, over those 71 shots it started out at 914fps and ended at 914fps with a extreme spread of 24fps and a SD of 6... more then likely will get better as reg/gun breaks in..

Trigger on gun is good but I wouldn't call it excellent, haven't measured pull yet but its fairly light, 1st stage is short light and 2nd stage is crisp with a bit of creep. W/O the little bit of creep it would be excellent.

It seems to be very comfortable to carry across in front of your chest but carrying one handed it wants to twist in your hand due to being a bit top heavy.
Has anyone put traditional sling studs on theirs to carry it and if so how does it carry over your shoulder?

It definitely needs some type of cheek piece not a fan of the metal against the face shooting.
Anyone knows of a good 3D printed cheek piece please post a link to it.
It points very well offhand and is easy to hold steady so should be good for squirrel hunting/pesting which is how I judge my guns as thats what I do with them.
Probably going to put a different scope on it since this scope only goes to 50 yd parralax.

Will post back later on after Ive had a chance to hunt with and shoot it enough to give a better review.

TUXING TXES022 - can it fill a 6.8L bottle to 300bar?

since my 1st cheapo compressor finally broke, i am considering a new one, a TUXING TXES022 to fill a bigger buddy bottle of 6.8L.
can't find an info on what max. volume for that compressor to fill would be, i vaguely remember that i read max. volume is 3L...

any experiences? with such a set-up?

O-ring Phobia?

IMHO, I don't think that all the "o-ring phobia" I read about is justified.

If used in their intended environment, static o-rings will do their job for a very long time - even decades.

O-rings in a dynamic application (that interface with moving/rotating parts will) have a reasonable service life if properly maintained (lubricated) but will eventually need to be replaced. No big deal, it's routine maintenance. Do it yourself if you are so inclined or have a specialist do it.

In some special applications (like in a Weihrauch) the gland (groove) is designed to "crush" the o-ring and it must be replaced every time that interface is opened.

An o-ring can fail prematurely if the gland was not properly designed, the incorrect size/type of o-ring was used or it was damaged during assembly. Installation over sharp edges can scar the o-ring and improper lubrication can damage it. Other than that they just work as intended.

From what I've seen, most o-ring failures can be traced back to user abuse.

Exceeding design pressure limits can deform an o-ring pushing it out of place. Exposing an o-ring to extreme temperatures, harsh chemicals/solvents or abrasive materials can cause catastrophic failure or latent damage that shows up as a slow leak.

Filling a PCP to maximum pressure then leaving it in a car parked in the sun is potentially harmful to the airgun. Inside the car, temperatures can get high enough to make metal too hot to hold comfortably, exceeding the working range of the o-rings. The heat can cause the pressures in the reservoir to increase making life for an o-ring more difficult.

At the opposite end, extremely cold conditions could cause o-rings to become brittle though I don't think this is a big concern.

Within normal operating temperatures, the o-rings are happy to do their thing and expansion/contraction of joints is not a problem.

There's a whole list of factors to be considered when choosing a PCP. For me, the number of o-rings doesn't matter, the designer used what was needed. PCPs, being HPA systems use o-rings, if you don't like o-rings, then a springer might be better choice for you. 🙂

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers!

Dlx pro chrono not reading shots!!!

Hi guys,
Bought this dlx bt version may 2024 from pyramid air.
was working fine just couple of weeks ago and then the temperature dropped and now the dlx wont read shots no matter what i do near far up down shades no shades,
nothing works,
contacted dlx manufacturer,
they say its because the sunlight this time of year stays at certain angle so i may need the lighting kit if i am using the dlx indoor!!!
Which I don't
I only use dlx outdoor,
anyone else facing similar issue when the temp drops outside but still is sunny and the dlx don’t work,
let me know so at least I can feel good about it!!!
the Bluetooth works fine on the chrono.

Air Venturi  Avenge X Exploded view

Hi - does anyone have an exploded view of the avenge x “internals”? As per my other tread my Avenge X shoots completely random. I wont even call it groups anymore… I know how to take the barrel, probe, stock apart, I have done it several times already, but I want to check every o-ring and regrease them to make sure that everything is in order. I just dont know how to get in there without some visual aid. And I would like to know what all the different screws are for before I untighten them. I know where the degas and regadjuster is located;) Oh - and here is a picture of my groups with the same pellet🙄🫣 (I have ordered som JSBs. One of the probe o-rings broke so I changed that one.
