Taipan  Ugly fat pig or Bad Ass Vet2

Finally got the Vet 2, the more I look at it the more I like it. It's a Bad Ass bullpup when held on your hands. Of course it don't have the anti-double load anymore, not that important to me. And it didn't come with external reg adj, a little disappointed, but how many time are you going to adj the reg once you set it? But surprisingly comparing to the og Vet, everything is better or at least the same. It's actually more well balance doing the artillery hold. Trigger is the same as the og Vet. But believe it or not, the cocking is little more easier and smoother. I was expecting the front cocking would have a little more resistance, but it's actually the opposite.

Accuracy wise I believe it a little more accurate than the og Vet after 50y. At 70y, it's within a quarter size using JSB 25.4g and NSA 24.7g both are .217 in breezy wind without trying. At 90y I was able to get the NSA under 1.5" just shooting it away on a breezy day, once fine tuned I believe it's will be within 1 moa.

I got the Tact 700mm version, a little bit longer than I wanted it to be. If anyone want to trade there 500mm for my 700mm DM me.

Does the Zulus obsolete ATNs, etc.?

The form factor alone is fantastic, a small footprint packing a lot of features. Most of the Zulus’ viable competitors are huge by comparison. I own the basic Zulus (no range finder), it has been simply amazing to me. Particularly for shooting at night, I love getting on rats with it. The fact that it adds so little weight and bulk to a gun is a big plus… I feel that Arken has put all its competitors on notice. The little Zulus simply performs and is intuitive to use, definitely a home run for Arken…🙏

A simple method of aligning wind flags

A friend of mine turned me on to this simple method of aligning your wind flags so the credit goes to @Buckeye68 . We were both previously using string from the bench to the target stand, which works great but it’s kind of a pain, especially when someone else walks into your string 🤪.

We bought a $18 GREEN laser pointer off of FleaBay but I assume Amazon sells them too. Then mounted it to a 3 point adjustable base. Set the base next to your rifle, on the bench, and point it to your target. Walk out to where you want to position your flag and stand in front of the laser until you find the dot on your chest then position your flag just below the laser. Below is a link to the one I bought.

@Buckeye68 has a much higher tech aluminum base. Perhaps he will post a picture of his?

BTW, a red laser does NOT work in bright sunlight. Don’t ask how I know that tidbit of info?

FX  DRS 25 700

I just received a DRS 25 700, it is even better than I thought it would be.
Out of the box the reg was set at 128 bar, this shot the H&N 40gr heavy at 935 fps.
I set the reg to 150 bar which gave me 970 fps without touching the hammer tension, but it wasn't very consistent, my experience with my DRS 22 700 was to reduce hammer spring tension to get a more consistent shot string.
This made it worse, so i slowly increased hammer spring tension until I got this shot string.

I was only able to get it set up and sighted in.

There will be more to come, like shot count and accuracy.

Just in case anyone is wondering the DRS has become my favorite rifle.

Looking For Good Wind Flags

I think I've just about decided to invest in "good" wind flags. Something responsive and easy to set up properly - probably with a bubble level at the top. I have a couple of the MTM inexpensive ones, just looking for something better. I already own three good stands so just looking for flags. Advice and links welcome.
Thanks,
Mike

Air Gun Companies Copying FX?

Hello All

I took a Hiatus from Air gunning....Work Family etc...I am getting back into the air gun hobby once again and really enjoying it. I am starting to save up for a new air gun "Bullpup" style rifle in a few months and I already DO own 2 FX impacts...the Mk1 version from 2016 and 2017 ( Without the Plenum and Power Block ) which I bought from a member here long ago. I have noticed however that many air gun companies are making bullpups that look like the FX Impact? Obviously to compete but whats the deal with this? Almost similar to the Impact..in design and shape. Is the FX Company Loosing its Luster? Are these other alternatives better than the Impact? Brocock Ghost, Daystate Delta Wolf, Western Airguns Rattler, Beeman Underlever, RTI P3 Etc.... I heard that FX manufacturing went to China and most parts are no longer being made in Sweden. Is FX still making great PCP Rifles? Too many O rings and moving parts....one small part breaks...the whole gun breaks??? Should I get an FX Impact M3 instead of the alternatives...Kalibri or AirMaks?

Kalibr Guns and AirMaks....are two brands that I am looking into, they make some gorgeous looking Bullpups and heard great things about them. Any Info on these two Air Gun Companies...Are they reliable air gun manufactures?

Thanks Guys
Mark

RAW Rapid  HM1000 air not getting to regulator after reseal.

In another thread I post about messing up my reseal and being stuck on getting the rifle back apart. That got worked out so I am starting a new thread to hopefully simplify someone searching for this issue in the future.

Rifle is a 2015 build HM1000 and spent the last few years in a gun case in the back of a truck, so lots of temperature swings. When I first charged it the rifle leaked slowly. Enough to hear it but slow enough to shoot it some. Thing is accurate! I ordered a seal kit from RAW and replaced the orings. Nothing else.

Problem is the bottle will fill and hold air but the air is NOT making it into the regulator or to the valve. The gauge shows pressure.

I have searched and everything I find I about leaks and nothing mentions this particular problem. If an isolated problem nobody has ever had before I am the guy that will have it. 😂

I did not take the washer stack off the regulator. Just replaced the orings.

PCP Rifle  SOLD FX Panthera 500, .22 cal

*** SOLD ***

I bought this gun used last Fall from Airguns of Arizona. Haven't really shot it much as we haven't really bonded. Don't like the feel/form factor. Give me a Crown in a GRS stock and I'm happy as a pig in slop. But this gun is no Crown wearing a GRS stock.

Took some 50 yard shots with it this morning. The on-target performance shows that I'm not much of a marksman, and that I'm not all that comfortable over the gun. Only one screw up on my part though, where the trigger broke earlier than I was expecting. Trigger has been set up by previous owner as pretty much a light, clean single stage.

Gun comes with 5 each FX magazines, a single shot tray and a CARM single shot loader (the latter being my preference). Plus the owner's manual and the OEM FX hard case.

Gun is in very good condition, but has some little marks on it courtesy of the previous owner. I've tried to show all of them which I see in the photos below. And it looks like it is missing 2 bolts from under the barricade block? Don't know what's up with that.

Price is $1,400 shipped to an address in the CONUS, with payment via PayPal Friends and Family (the only form of electronic payment I have).

Thanks for looking,
Tom

EDIT: Not really looking for trades, but you can always offer. I have been thinking about maybe wanting to try a full size Sidewinder in .22 or .25...
