An experiment I would like to see

Hot rodders know that a very smooth surface inside the intake maifold of engines is less efficient than a rough surface, so they grit or bead blast the interiors before using. I wonder how much different pellet velocity would be between as manufacured pellets and those with bead blasted heads? Just a random thought.

Hello from Tx/Tn

I took about a 6 year break from pcp airguns but now I'm back to learn more. Great forums yall have here. I came from gatewaytoairguns, the yellow forum, marauderairrifles etc.
Sold my house in the burbs in Texas and I'm looking for property in E Tn so maybe I'll see some of you around : ).

Currently shooting:
- Marauder .25 with a lot of valve work and SSG. 3 mags from 2900 fill @ 865fps ES 40 sd 19. Doped to dial out to 100y
- Waiting on shipment for Uragan 2 from Tony in .25 cal. Will be a hunting set up ~910 fps
- Kid's diana stormrider in .177
---- I regret selling my Taipan Mutant in .22 after losing interest in airguns

Brocock/BRK  My Bad Ass Brotherhood of BRKs…💥💥💥💥

They all get along nicely and are nicely compact and comparable in footprint to each other. Any of these four could comfortably serve as my primary for what I do with my airguns. I feel comfortable taking small pests, in good conditions with my Atomics out to 40-55 yards. The Pathfinder stretches that to 60-70+ yards. And the Ghost is capable to 100+ yards. I consistently hit, small rodent head size targets, out to 64 yards with my Atomics and plink with them and the Pathfinder out to 102 yards regularly. I get enough consistent hits on my 102 yard targets to simply confirm the awesomeness… The Ghost is the newest sweet addition to the brood. She is the Queen and the Pathfinder may be a little threatened but the sweet Atomics are undaunted. The Atomics are simply a joy to handle and shoot, nicely light and deceivingly deadly on small pests. The Atomic with the UTG red dot is light enough for small kids to handle and punish cans with…

Atomic XR #1 Arken Zulus 3-12x
Atomic XR #2 UTG-op3-micro-sls-red-dot.
Pathfinder XR: Aztec Emerald 6-24x-50 IR SF FFP.
Ghost XR Carbine: G1 Athlon Helos 6-24x-50 IR SF FFP.

Did I mention I love my BRKs and feel extremely fortunate to own such a quad of sweet PCPs… 🙏

Brocock/BRK  Brocock and FX

Posting in case this anecdotal feedback helps someone make a decision.

We are users of PCP air rifles (and we have a springer!) for pest control, as a business. We have quite an assortment -- Edgun, FX, Brocock, KalibrGun, and Weihrauch (the springer). I enjoy shooting these rifles on Sundays and have shot very many pellets and slugs through all of them.

After lots of testing, tied for first are (drum roll): Our Brocock Sniper XR, and the FX Crown Continuum. The only negatives on both of these is, the need to treat them with kid gloves, as they seem to be precision instruments, like watches. We are kind to our tools and transport all of them cased, but these two rifles seem exceptionally well-built, but delicate.

In second place is our monster Kalibrgun Argus 45 in .30 cal. We use this for larger animals.

My first air rifle was a Daisy BB gun. I wish I had known how capable air guns are, earlier in life. I can do as much with these PCPs as I can with my .22s.

Cheers

What Red Dot scope is your favorite and why.

Hello everyone,

OK the title to this thread is pretty much self explanatory. Please only tell me what Red Dot Scope that you have owned and used and what points makes it stand out. I would also like to know what rifle or pistol you used the Scope with. If you happen to have a really close “second favorite” I would appreciate knowing about that one also.

Fellows, please don’t tell me about a Scope that you have not personally owned and used.

Thank you in advance,
ThomasT

N/A  Why would it shoot two groups?

My rifle used to shoot one hole groups at 25 meter and good groups at longer distances up to 100 meter. Now that was with a certain batch of pellets that is finished I don't get the same anymore. It still shoot one hole groups at 25 meter but it is split in two groups. It would shoot a few pellets through one hole, then the next few shots about 8mm higher and then back to the first hole again. The chronograph show the SD is about 5 -7 and ES about 18, but the high or low shots does not correlate to the speed.

It is a M22 in 5.5mm.
I checked and everything is tight. I tried another scope as well but it still do the same.

Does anybody has experience with such a problem? What would cause it?

PCP Rifle  FOUND Getting Back Into The Hobby!

Hi All!

Have been working abroad the past couple years and am back in the states and VERY much looking to get back into the hobby!

I donated my collection to a Veterans shooting group I supported before I left so starting from scratch so a lot of holes to fill!

Starting with air rifles so hoping to be able to source the following:

FX Crown 600-700mm .22 or .30
FX Impact MK2 or M3 .22 or .30 (700mm)
FX Boss
Daystate Electronic Guns (Red Wolf, Alpha Wolf, Delta Wolf or older models) .22 or .25
AGT Uragan/Vulcan .22 or .30
RTI Prophet (1,2 or3) .22
RAW open to caliber and would LOVE an Alan Z. tuned/shrouded model but not a deal breaker.
Kalibr Cricket Tactical .30
Original Kalibr Cricket .25
Edgun R5M .25 or Super Long .30

Also LOVE one off or custom airguns so don’t hesitate to reach out with others that maybe worth a look!

Just a quick note, I only pay via PayPal and please don’t take offense if I am a bit more hesitant etc. if you have no or low feedback!

Thanks all and very much looking forward to reconnecting with the AGN community!

Be Safe,
Dr. Mike Long

Huben  First impressions of Huben GK1 .25 Shorty

I got my GK1 .25 Shorty from Kelly at Kraz Cool today! We had communications on possible variations, and he was so patient working with me - thank you Kelly for getting me exactly what I wanted!

Here is shot data as I got it- no tuning - just out of the box. 33 pretty flat shots from 31 amps to 11 amps with one empty shot in the middle (thus losing some air)

[Update, pellet was JSB Exact King Diablo 25.39 grain and changed bar to MPa]

Here is what it looks like compared to my full-size GK1 .25. It was 2 inches shorter and it handled great.

FX  FX POI Shift : SOLVED ?

FX Maverick Compact 30 cal
Regs 160/145
Power Wheel 6

The attached pictures were 859 fps AEA 45 gr pellets @ 40 yds, 5 shot groups. When I speak of POI shift, I'm not talking about shots being randomly scattered. I'm speaking about these groups as a whole shifting randomly and needing to rezero for this (see pics). In my case, my gun came shooting 840 fps and every once in awhile I would need to adjust the scope a couple of clicks and it was good for awhile. To be honest, I thought it was the cheap scope I had. Once I got a chrono, I started adjusting reg pressures for faster fps. After increasing speeds I needed to rezero much more often, just about every day. I replaced the scope, same issues. Then I started looking into this further and discovered other people were having the same problem. I pulled my barrel liner and it had 2 orings. I ordered additional orings from Utah Airguns and the cf sleeve. I put the cf sleeve on and lost my tight groups. I did not epoxy it, and it felt a little loose, not a tight play free fit. At that point I wasn't ready to glue my liner in, so I went back to the orings. I ended up using 10 orings evenly spaced with a double in the middle, using Teflon tape beside them to help keep them in place. Same result, good for a couple days and then off 1/2". I couldn't find a solution on the internet so I decided i needed to rethink this. Something has to be moving, but what.

Here's my theory I came up with. In a perfect world a perfectly straight barrel would be ideal. In this system the liner is between the jamb nut and the block. When tightening that jamb nut, if the distance between where the liner touches it and the block is less than the length of the liner by even a mm the liner has to arc. Under tension with an arc in it is force that could cause it to rotate slightly, or arc in the opposite direction. Either of these would change the poi. My jamb nut was fairly snug but not too tight. I loosened it to what I would describe as 1/4 snug. Finger tight then just barely tightened with a wrench.

It's only been a week now but it is shooting like a laser and I have had no need to rezero. I think the 10 orings is probably overkill, but i would use at least 3 or 4. I also think the cf liner may work if epoxied. I hope this helps someone, i know i spent countless hours trying to figure it out.

Full disclosure, I am not a certified technician, just a hillbilly striving for perfection.
