Well played, Monday.
TLDR: Need recommendations for a new compressor with a time / temperature emergency shutdown, or at least a way of avoiding this in the future. Also, my cat is fine.
For those who live to read spilled tea... here's what happened:
I woke up on this wonderful Monday morning with the usual heroic dose of middle-aged back pain, begrudging the morning school routine of shoveling kids out the door. I went downstairs to start the day, and was greeted by the smell of smoke, burning oil, and the unmistakable hum of my yong heng compressor.
My rotund tom cat - whom I keep in the garage at night - had stepped on the power button on his way to the food bowl, no telling at what time. It was obviously him, nothing else lives in the garage, and I had moved my compressor to a spot close to his bowl.
The garage was full of a hazy white smoke, smelled very strongly of burning oil, and my terrified cat was hiding in a drawer, poking his head up and crying out in feline terror.
Obviously the water cooling system wasnt on, though I never use it because I just fill my guns directly and that never takes more than 20 seconds. It also has an auto-shutoff, but because it wasnt hooked up to anything it never quit.
Common sense tells me not to trust the compressor from here on out, not unless someone here has experience with yong hengs being indestructible? I dont believe thats their reputation. Perhaps they are easy to rebuild, or perhaps it should be replaced.
-----------
Ideally I'd like a compressor that has its own integrated cooling system, and one that's smart enough to shut down on high temps or long runs. I'm starting my search, but I also want to ask real humans what their thoughts are?
Thoughts and recommendations?
