FX  Any Starting Numbers I Should Try for my Regulator to shoot a 21gr slug at 950fps and a 25.4gr slug at 960fps?

I have a stock standard FX Maverick and I have been shooting some JSB Knockout 25.39gr slugs at 50 yards. I want to increase the speed on them up to 940-960ish to see if I can get better accuracy out of them. They are currently shooting at 860fps.

I don't know where to start and I don't want to have to spend all day guessing on regulator numbers if someone has a suggestion.

Thank you in advance.

Benjamin  Marauder Modification Questions

I bought a .177 Marauder F&T version last year as sort of a backup/lightweight to complement my FWB P70FT. The Mrod shoots very well but that trigger is kind of ridiculous. I keep meaning to modify it but I still have a couple of questions that I can't find answers to by searching.

1. Do I need to degas the rifle before doing modifications on the trigger group?
2. Does anyone know the size (ID/OD) of the O-ring or stack of washers (ID, washer thickness and number) needed to replace the lawyer spring?

Additionally,
3. Is there some way to reduce the pull force required on the bolt but maintain the current power output?

🟢 A new perspective for BUYING GUNS.... (the next level down the AG rabbit hole! 😵)

🟢 A new perspective for BUYING GUNS.... (the next level down the AG rabbit hole! 😵)

Please, share:
❓ What is a GENERAL PRINCIPLE that guides you when you make gun purchases?

➠ My general principle has recently changed. This is what happened:

🟢 ALLROUND GUNS:
For years I have been at the stage of owning a couple of allround guns that were supposed to do it all: quiet urban pesters, long range slug shooters, and everything in between [now stop laughing at me!!😤].

🟢 SPECIALIST GUNS:
Now
, I think I'm moving to the next phase (yes, "moving to the next phase" is an euphemism to describe the disasterous "falling a couple of stories down the AG rabbit hole" — but let's just keep pretending).

This next phase was introduced by realizing that this hobby is here to stay (and will require a larger financial committment).
And now, instead of buying more allround guns — I'm trying to buy specialized guns (and scopes): Guns (and scopes) that do one thing, and do it really well. A gun/scope for each shooting scenario that I eventually encounter, like:

● Shooting scenarios:
▪ XLR — extreme long range shooting, I'd like to pop baloons at 300y across canyons and lakes in the Peruvian Andes mountains at 17.000ft.
▪ Destroyer of pests — perfect devastation at close & mid range
▪ Mass pigeon pesting 5 to 50y
▪ LRH — long range hunting: glassing & shooting
▪ Close quarters ratter

➠ This makes me look at guns and calibers and scopes that were totally outside of my view, like: .30cal, pistols, semi-automatics, red dot sights, etc.

➧ See you at the next level of the rabbit hole!! 😆

Edgun lelya

Sooo, I have a edgun Lelya, and am finding that it is a little loud on my ear, not ears. Seems like right where the loading chamber is in relation to where you lay your cheek is interesting. I would say it is horrible, but is having my wonder if I should be wearing a single earplug. I would as a chef in highly industrial kitchen, so not shy to noise. Any advise or anyone else have this problem with say the Leshiy or fX impact models?

FX  FX Crown range report

The FX Crown is my upgrade to the Benjamin Marauder that I started with and today was day 1 at the range with the FX.

Am I happy? Oh yeah! I literally laughed after shooting 3 shots into the same hole.

First, I set the velocity. At 25 yards, I went with a 3 on the dial which is about 750-770fps.

Then I zeroed the scope. 6 shots to get it on center. No problem there.

Then, I shot for 30 minutes with an ear-to-ear grin on my face.

Summary: the FX is at least as accurate as my Tikka T1x which is saying something.

New to Airgun Nation

I’m new here, and a little confused. I have been active for the 10 days( can’t seem to actually see where it lists my start date) but do not know why they ask for 10 posts before I can have a little more options. So here I am trying to come up with stuff just for the clearance. Honestly, I don’t see how it will make a difference in safety on deals. Thoughts?

Kalibrgun  Battle of the Titans‼️ plus Hurricane 🌀

I needed to decide which .30 I’m competing with at EBR this year. I have Daddy, my Delta Wolf and Suavè, my .30 Cricket 2 Tac. They both shoot 56gr Zan pellets very good. Daddy wants to be Alpha and Suavè just wants to live life to the fullest with no drama. Today was the day to settle it. Hurricane 🌀, my .25 Uragán - 700, came along to get a workout in as well 😁

5 consecutive 5-shot groups from 100 yards is the challenge. Starting position is on the line!!

Daddy was up first and did well but had a few outliers that opened up his average. He shoots the Zans at 875 fps. He rocks a 28” ART barrel. Power is easy. He can shoot them at 950 fps but accuracy isn’t any better faster so why? He gets harder to handle at bigger power. Results were not bad but Suavè wasn’t impressed 😜

Suavè went to the line and reminded all he’s a lover not a fighter. Today, however, he was provoked and he wouldn’t be taking this nonsense any longer. From the first group I knew Daddy was in trouble. Suavè is a smooth easy shooter even though I’m running a higher reg pressure and have less barrel to work with (23.6”). Shooting the same Zans at 890 fps. Shot these from 840 to 920 with Suavè while testing and he performs the same no matter. No real outliers with this guy.

Daddy ~ Average of 1.175”
Suavè ~ Average of .871”

Hurricane 🌀 stepped up for some shadow boxing and footwork drills. He shoots the 49.5gr Altaros Smooths at 885 fps. He hangs with the best rimfires made! 2 - 5-shot groups later averaged .7” 😳 Now that’s Tenacious!

I’ll be starting Suavè on Bench and EFT. Hurricane 🌀 has the Steel Scramble. Daddy will ride pine for now but he ain’t done!

My final conclusion about shooting PCP's.

What I have seen is that there is a point in which you can have one or twenty super accurate rifles. It doesn't matter, those super accurate rifles will have you behind pulling the trigger. In that particular point all super rifles get even and groups may not close at long distance.

Therefore at some point there's is more gain shooting a rifle that you know and that you can control with confidence, than trying to buy the most accurate rifle in the market. Eventually with that rifle you will be stopped by your skills and the difference with the second or third more accurate will be vanished.

A few groups of Altaros 60gr Queens

I recently got a AGT Vulcan 3 25 caliber from Derrick at Tenacious Airguns. He did his magic with the tuning. If you have any questions on what he did you'd have to call him because I asked him to do his best with it. All I know is I requested him to get close to 100 fpe with 49.5's but I left to his discretion as to where the gun shot best which turned out to be 92 fpe and 916fps ave.

As of yesterday I have a little over 100 slugs through the V3 which have been mostly Altaros 49.5gr. Those shoot the same as the 60gr Queens as far as I can tell with the little shooting I've done.

This one group on the cardboard is 7 shots at 57 yards. The shot on the right I wasn't ready for when it went off because I was still getting used to the 3-4oz trigger.

The other two 5 shot groups on the steel were at 101 yards.

I haven't chrono'd the 60gr Queens yet.

Queens = .245 G1 BC Wow . The gun combo should do well for XFT matches, especially when windy.

Just a quick preliminary test...All the groups were shot off a Harris bipod down prone off a Triad squeeze bag. Small vertical on the one group and considering the poor choice I made(uncomfortable) where I shot from I'm pretty happy with the results.

Smoothbore Barrels

I have recently caught the slug bug and have noticed that if I smooth out the rifling and remove it entirely via abrasive polishing that not only do the slugs travel faster but it seems POI is much more consistent. My theory is that due to low muzzle velocity using slugs that the twist rate is not enough to spin stabilize the slug. Is anyone else using slugs in a smooth bore setup?

RAW: JSB .22 - MRD & .25 - 25.39 Kings - Not Great?

Been trying to fine tune my RAW HM1000x's for 1 MOA groupings at 50/100 yards and find the above two pellets less than optimal?

In .22 cal. have found the 18.13 grain pellets to be considerably more accurate from the Non-choked poly LW barrel. The only downside to the 18's is at 100 yards it doesn't take much wind to cause problems.

Also, in .25 cal. the 33.95 grain pellets are way better than their 25.39 counterparts?

I'm shooting everything at 905/915 fps, but have tried higher velocities to no avail.

Anybody have differing results?
If not, I'm perfectly fine sticking to what has worked for me(y).
If yes ... what have you done that works?

PCP Rifle  NLA 2023 Limited Wood Edition.22 Huben

So it seems my addiction got ahead of me this time and I bought a .22 and .25 huben both wood versions and came the realization I don't need 2. So the .22 is on the block it's a 2023 with a 22 buttpad it's currently tuned to shoot hades in the low 900's and the wood stock is a really nice one. It will come with the 1/2x20 adapter, the upgraded loading gate, and my favorite picatinny rail installed the atlas 3.35" it's 4 months old and barely broken in to many projects and not enough time. Will come double boxed with his purchase receipt for proof. $2000TYD any questions feel free to ask.

GX CS4 5800 PSI / 400 Bar at Amazon for $586 or $610 Shipped from Factory Site

If you have been waiting to get one since they were out of stock recently - well, they are back in stock at Amazon, on sale for $621 with an additional $35 off coupon for a pre tax price of $586 shipped for prime members.

Update July 28-ish
They are in stock on the factory website for $610 delivered. No tax, free shipping for those without an Amazon Prime account and/or a Prime credit card. Code GX10OFF

I used my Amazon credit card for another 5% off, that almost covered the added sales tax for a net price delivered after the 5% on the card is applied of $593, about $10 less than buying it direct from the GX website (currently out of stock) with their free shipping, 10% off and no tax. I was growing annoyed at not being able to fill my guns or tanks to 4500 PSI so my extra/backup Yong Heng is going to one of my kids. I will use the other Yong Heng to bring stuff up to about 250 bar then finish them off with the GX CS4 to 300 / 310 bar for those that can handle it.

I wish the Hill EC3000 would do 400 bar and could run 5 hours without auto shutdown, but with a max of 300 bar it really doesn't make sense for my wants at $1300 to $1500 vs less than half that on the CS4.

Added July 26

I received my GX CS4 a few days ago and I am very impressed. If the CS4 existed when I bought my CS3 last year , I would have gone with the CS4 without question.

My main use for the CS4 is for filling guns / tanks that I want at 4500 psi and maybe some day higher than 4500 psi, which my Yong Heng can't handle even after the HP piston was rebuilt. It just hangs there at about 3300 fps no matter how long I run it once I hit "The Wall". No leaks anywhere on it.

So, just to see how it would do, I filled a newly purchased, used 30 minute / Scott SCBA from ZERO to 4500 PSI all in one go, bleeding the water on the CS4 about every 6-8 minutes. Total fill time was 2 Hrs 43 Minutes. The pump never overheated. Same temperature cooling air at 30 minutes as at 2:43. ( I didn't record the temp...sorry. Will next time. )

Conclusion? Since I usually buy expired tanks for use by me, family and friends and there is no filling service here anyway, I am comfortable filling 30 min / 45 cubic foot tank from empty the first time with the CS4, but I won't make that a routine. Instead I will take the empty tank up to 3000 PSI with the Yong Heng, then finish it off to 4500 with the CS4. It might be sketchy with a 45 min / 66 cu ft but doable based on a partial fill I did on one, but the 60 min / `88 cubic footer might be a bit too long for me. No plans to test a zero to 4500 psi fill on a 60 min SCBA.

The sound level is acceptable. Audible but not annoying if I am in the next room. If I am sitting next to it, I would be wearing earplugs or muffs. If it was running off a silent 12v power source, it would be even more quiet. Going to try that on a deep cycle batter on an AC charger soon.

I hit the 4-6 hr grease time and did one turn to grease it. Didn't notice any changes or drops in PSI like they say sometimes happens for a few minutes after greasing. Very easy to do. I did not open the grease reservoir to see how it works but will do that eventually. My cooling tank was spotless. I flushed it with distilled water several times and each time it came out clear. Running distilled and Ryslone Hy-Per cool. Will be changing to Water Wetter when it arrives.

(Note: I am going to post this at current end of this thread as well.)

FINALLY, zero to do with shooting....

For the past year or so I've been after this damn rat, that's been eating my garden. I've seen it once in the day light and of course I didn't have a gun with me. Well this year it came back so I went high tech, and bought a trail cam to verify it's a rat and not a Possum. Yep trail cam did its job and confirmed a rat, a damn smart one too. It got one of my ripening tomatoes so GAME on. Last year the thing could strip the bait from the traps and not set it off. This year, it set off a trap, but left the peanut butter, I reset it, a day ago and this morning I got the little bastard, except it wasn't so little. Funny thing was, the trap was sprung but the rat was a foot or so away from it, looking fine, dead but fine. i scared it to death, but it's dead and that's all that matters.

The trail cam I bought works great for the price, solar powered, programmable, blue tooth and wifi and the app works well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BVDTLVHK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

PCP Rifle  SOLD Daystate .22 Red Wolf HP PRICE REDUCED

I have for sale a beautiful Red Wolf.22 HP in midnight blue color. This is the newest version of this gun with the GCU2 control unit. The gun is like new with no scratches or dings. The gun is shooting the 25.39 JSBs or the FX branded pellets extremely well at around 970 fps on the medium setting. The gun has a front picatinny for a bipod and the large capacity 580cc bottle installed by Air guns of Arizona. This gun is insanely accurate. I went out this morning and shot two 5 shot groups just to show what the gun is capable of doing. These two groups were shot with unwashed pellets straight from the tin. The distance was 100 yards. This sale is for the gun and moderator only. The scope and rings are not part of this sale. I have a reduced price of $2100.00 for this gun shipped to your door. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the gun. Thanks for looking.

PCP Rifle  SOLD .177 Dreamtac

I have been contemplating selling my dreamtac .177. It's probably one of my favorites so you may say to yourself why sell it, because this damn hobby is so addictive that I want to try something else. I have it set for 10fpe and has more kills than any else because it's so freaking quiet I don't even get pass throughs on field mice. The best part is it can be dialed up to full power with just the wheel. It has a minimalist stock, ergo grip, new buffer tube, folding stock, plano hard case, and your choice of the 180cc tube, 300cc bottle, or a 480cc your choice. It likes the h&n baracuda hunter extremes at this current speed but will be honest never took it up to see what it does. I will also include the moderator made by a member and makes this thing incognito in this setup. Looking for $1000TYD scope not included or sabertact extended rail not included.
