FX  Advice on getting deeper into FX impact

I'm pretty new to PCP rifles, but I've been lurking around forums for awhile reading. I have a Flashpup QE, but I'm looking for something a lot more capable (it's fine but feels like a starter rifle). The FX Impact and the platform in general looks extraordinarily appealing to me, but I don't understand it all yet and have a few questions on how to get started.

I have some interest in the flexible aspects of the M3 and the ability to change barrels, setups, etc. but I'm curious what some of the true "best practices" have yielded regarding this flexibility. I get the impression that while it's flexible, many still prefer to have multiple rifles instead of constantly changing setups. Is this a correct impression on what most of you do? Is it a big deal to swap back and forth between pellets and slugs of the same caliber on one rifle or does it get cumbersome? I've gathered it might not be worth swapping between calibers, but it's not as clear to me how feasible it is to often swap between pellets and slugs on the same gun on 1 caliber.

I'm asking because I have some interest in dabbling in slugs to explore shooting some longer ranges. It seems like it's definitely a capable slug gun, but I wouldn't expect to only want to shoot slugs.

What are your experiences on the FX M3 platform and the true practical side of its flexibility?

PCP Rifle  SOLD Extremely Rare - SWIFT Rapid in .25 caliber *Priced to Sell*

Up for grabs!!!

20220809_131925.jpg

It is a truly unique full custom build with the highest quality materials created by master craftsman Ernie “Swift” Olsen.

The receiver by Gordon Dawson, is based on the Theoben Rapid MK2 with improved specs, and a larger plenum. It’s made of 7075 aluminum, and has a milled weaver rail on top. The minimalistic aluminum stock by Ernie Swift has two anchor points, and sports a weaver rail below for a bi-pod (or accessory). The Magpul adjustable stock (with cheek riser) allows the OAL to be changed from 38'' to 41.5''

swift build 10.jpg

swift build 7.jpg

The trigger by Gordon Dawson is a dual stage competition grade ceramic ball bearing unit that is butter smooth and breaks crispy clean.

swift build 6.jpg

The barrel made by Lothar Walther, is a 17’’ hand-lapped .25 caliber choked polygon barrel.

swift build 3.jpg

swift build 2.jpg

Ernie also made the shroud, which extends 7'' past the muzzle. The shroud is made from a 1 & 5/8 carbon fiber tube with a pressed and fused aluminum insert. The internals consist of several different baffles and an air stripper.

The aluminum bottle is rated at 200b working pressure, 300b test pressure. So, here’s a shot chart using JSB 25 grains pellets and a 200b fill. 3 full magazines, 36 shots, ES 20, SD 6, Ave FPS 887, Ave FPE 44.

What it isn't
This airgun is not regulated, it is not the most powerful, it is not externally adjustable, and it does not have dozens of o-rings or tiny fragile parts.

What it is
This airgun does everything extremely well. It is very accurate, quiet, reliable, comfortable, efficient, easily serviceable, and has an amazing trigger. I had Martin (RAW) go through the entire rifle about 2 years ago, and he said he was thoroughly impressed.

I am the 2nd owner. The original owner paid over $6k to have this built. I’ve only seen 2 others in existence, but I believe there are at least 5 ;)

I told myself that I’d never sell this airgun… yet here we are. Now is your chance to own an extraordinarily unique full custom (one-of-a-kind) build that’s not only a collector, an heirloom, but it’s also a delightful shooter. Serial #0005

Crosman  Lothar Walther barrel for Crosman 1377 - worth it?

Friend showd me the Crosman custom shop. Looking at a newer 1377 pump pistol & they do modifications there.

Is it worth getting the Lothar Walther barrel over the Crosman barrels? I know LW has a great reputation, but is it actually going to be better in accuracy than the Crosman custom shop barrels?

Then there are two steel breech options. Other than the size - any advantage of one over the other?

The crosman page doesn't have much in the way of explanations on this.

Accessories  SOLD RAW HM1000x Chassis stock (only) w Ergo vertical handgrip

I got this in a trade recently and will not be using it on my RAW (I’m a wood stock guy).

This is a very lightly used condition chassis stock with furniture. It has the A&B Arms butt with adjustable cheek and butt pad, the hammer spring adjuster, M-Lok under the forearm, and the hand grip is a vertical Ergo TDX-0.

The hand grip is missing the bottom plug ($5.29 from Ergo) and I see some light finish marking in a couple of spots on the M-Lok rail where something was mounted to it. I don’t see any other wear or handling marks.

$300 shipped within continental US. Payment by USPS MO, personal check (plus clearance time), or cash if local to Hershey PA. My trading history is just starting here but I’ve been busy for some years in accurateshooter and ebay with this user name.

Thanks,

David

N/A  Great Grandpa’s WWII 1911A1 Pistol

1911A1 Tangfolio Witness all metal C02 bb pistol with blow back action. Amazingly accurate for what it is. I added Walnut grip panels and did a distressed finish to it. I use it for a place holder in my Fathers WWII memorabilia collection while the Colt is in the safe. It fools most. My grandsons love to shoot it. (me too) They’ll be getting the whole collection someday and this will help them remember their Grandpa and Great Grandpa. (whom they never met)

PCP Sales

I don't get on here as much as I used to but boy have things changed. I used to buy and sell on here quite a bit and there was never a problem moving stuff around. If you put a fair price on a piece of equipment and did your part correctly which I always did, things moved on here. I have a FX Crown on here that I've had for sale for months and at a good price. I don't get much attention for it. This gun is like brand new, SPAW tuned it and has not been touched since. I've probably only shot a tin through it. I've got it at 1,700 and I pay shipping and lt hasn't gone anywhere. Have the prices dropped that much on guns now? I don't get it.
Thanks

Taipan  Need to Tame my Taipan

I purchased a Taipan Veteran in June based on the positive experiences that users posted here. I was looking for an accurate and highly adjustable air gun. I never was able to see the accuracy that Taipans were known for. I shot a variety of pellets (18.1, 15.8, 14.3) from JSB, H&N, Crosman, FX, Hades, in the 800 to 880 range and I could never get a good group at 35 yards. I cleaned and polished the barrel, tried a different scope, used an Atlas bipod with a rear bag and still no accuracy. My Marauder groups were much better than the Taipan.

I remembered that I received the Taipan with a card where the dealer tested the rifle before sending it to me and it showed extreme accuracy. Referencing this card revealed that the avg. velocity was a whopping 930 fps with 18.1s. I may have shot that a couple of times when I first got the rifle and quickly adjusted it down and never went back to it. Most everything I read indicated that pellets may destabilize above 900 and 880 is the sweet spot, etc. Just for kicks, I adjusted it back to 930 this week and sure enough, it shoots nice groups with all holes touching at 35 yards. Both the JSB 18s and 16s shot very well above 900.

This almost makes the adjustment part of the rifle useless to me. Seems like I'm stuck having to shoot everything above 900. I was envisioning being able to dial down to 700 for backyard shooting, then dial it back up as needed and maintain accuracy.

So, I'm considering a couple options:
  • Purchase a Huma regulator to tune it down, but I'm not sure if the limiting factor for accuracy at low speeds is the regulator or the barrel, or both; or
  • Designate the Taipan as only a +900 fps shooter, and move on to another backyard-friendly truly adjustable bullpup.
I'd appreciate any ideas or recommendations from you all. Any input from Taipan owners who have had success tuning down the rifle? Any pellets that work well in the Taipan at lower velocities? Is it unreasonable to find an airgun that shoots accurately across varying velocities by simply adjusting the HST?

Other  [SOLVED] Gauge Arrived Scratched - Normal?

Good morning friends,

Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I recently placed an order from the Edgun shop. One of the things I purchased was a Wika gauge (Black, 315 bar). When it arrived I inspected it and noticed the face is scratched up pretty bad but you can only tell while holding it at an angle and none of them are deep enough to make me think it’s “damaged”. Wondering if anyone else had this experience? Pics attached, and thank you for your time!

Amazon cancels my GX CS4 compressor order- no explanation

Ordered the GX CS4 with the 4 year warranty yesterday. A few minutes ago, I get a cancellation notice from Amazon. Of course, GX has no CS4 listed now. I assume they sold out, not that they would admit it. Typical Amazon, no explanation. Is the CS3 worthwhile, if all I plan on using it for is filling up 3 pistol 300 bar air cylinders?
Thanks

Smallest air rifle with > 80 fpe, with a magazine, not bulpup if possible.

I don't actually intend to buy one, but more than a year ago I spent some time researching it, and it went like this:
FX Maverick - but way too many o-rings. FX Dreamline in .30 with 30cc extra plenum and more barrel bands, but still maybe too much work to get the power up etc. Maybe Evanix Rainstorm, but magazine looks flimsy. Or Sumatra 2500 - but that's getting too big now. And at that point I stopped researching it and moved to other things. I'm still curious if I haven't missed something (which also isn't too expensive, like the Huben K1).

PCP Rifle  SOLD EDgun Lelya 2.0 .22 ($1000 shipped)

Looking to sell my EDgun Lelya 2.0 in .22 that I purchased earlier this year. Have put around 1500 pellets through it. Found scratches on the air tube, so I sent it back to EDgun West for repair. Check out this thread to read about the whole affair. Outside of the air tube, there were some dings on the bottom of the grip that I fixed with the steam method. The dings are gone, but some of the finish was taken off, which you can feel when touching it. In addition, I touched up some small spots on the receiver and BAT suppressor with Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black. I'll also be including a Wika gauge due to a leak I thought the original one had. However, I pulled it out tonight after months in storage, and there's clearly no leak. But just to be safe, I'll include the Wika anyway.

As for why I'm selling, both the trigger and cocking action are too heavy. Also, due to the bullpup design, the sound of the action hurts my right ear whenever I fire the gun. If your hearing is poor, the noise might not bother you, but I can't say for sure.

Here's what the package includes:

-EDgun Lelya 2.0
-BAT suppressor
-Fill probe
-7 magazines
-Wika gauge
-Extra butt pad
-Various o-rings
-Stickers

$1000 shipped to the CONUS. PayPal only. No trades.

New target rifle

Evening everyone,

I hope I’m putting this in the right place. A few weeks ago I had a disappointing match at the CMP in Anniston AL. Two days before the match I shot a sub 1-inch 60 shot group. At the match I shot a 4+ inch group. I think the problem is me, not the rifle, but it gave an excuse to look around. A member of our RC club was also shooting and doing very well. He mentioned he had an old Anschutz at home in the closet and it could be available. He’s retired military and his wife is active duty and both shoot competitively. He brought it by today and it checked all my boxes just looking at it. It’s several steps above my current rifle and looking at the stickers on it, it’s been used in the PanAm Final Match, the 02 World Championship and the 04 Athens Olympics. It’s been there and done that as his comp rifle. He’s not using it now and has offered to sell it to me. Other than I’m not worthy of it i can think of no reason not to buy it. He’s almost giving it away, less than $1200. Any reason not to buy this? I can’t think of one even I wasn’t competing. Opinions? Thanks.

Best bang for your buck Optics brand

My vote would be Arken Optics.

For the price point i don't think anything comes close, the warranty service is amazing. Great tracking, nice glass and also nice looks.

Before comparing optics, please dont compare high prices optics against mid priced optics. A fair comparison would be
