Why did they quit makin' these???

Next to the Taipan Veteran (1st gen) the Daystate Huntsman Regal bolt action is my next most favorite PCP...their size weight looks dependability accuracy, I mean ACCURACY!!! Several interesting points to this thread...Yesterday conditions were WINDY...18 MPH L to R and gusty...but like fishin' either fight it or don't do it...I wanted to shoot...I resolved to do a simple shot count with a Huntsman Regal .20 calber, just for something to do. I shot off bags which is rare for me, had to hold gun to keep it from being blown off the bags! From the start grouping was FAR better than expected @ 30yds using JSB 13.73s running 825ish considering the wind, so good in fact I stopped and cleaned the barrel aired it up to 250b and got serious. Using a freshly opened tin I shot a 30 shot group than a 20 shot group to back up the first group. I have an FX 6x18 scope on it...heavy but nice looking...I always knew this Regal was a shooter...never shot it much being such a hard to find caliber...trigger isn't even tweaked yet...unbelievable...it just kept puttin' them in there...30 and 20 shots and was still going but my eyes were fuzzing out...old age you know...I did shoot a .177 10 group with my .177 Regal in the same conditions for comparison...10.3s at same 825fps same 30yds with predictable results...wind was down to 14 mph. These .20 cal

groups would be noteworthy on a calm day...Such a shame the .20 Huntsman isn't offered any more...don't get me started on the .20 calber lol! This was a fair accurate test...a testament to a great gun....20 calber pellet in the wind...and pretty fair marksmanship if I say so myself...had a great shoot in spite of the wind...Why did they quit makin' these things????

China side lever?

I freely admit I did not know how to use search for these questions. Woe unto me!
I bought a china side lever gun at the flea market. It looks to be in fair shape. I cleaned it and lubed what I could reach on the outside.
When I went to shoot it things went down hill a bit. It seems weak in the power dept. I also have no idea where it is shooting.
Is there a rebuild kit for these things,I looked on ebay and did not see anything.
Did these guns have a safty? Please tell me anytjing you know about these guns. I already know they are pretty much junk so you don't have to tell me that.
Thank You
Bobby

Ok, this is not an airgun but it shoots pellets in the air and other things.

I bought this Slingshot several years ago and it is extremely accurate and totally fun to shoot. I put the laser and light on only because I could, not that they will ever be used.

The mallards just dropped in so I had my wife take a snap shot. No, it's not duck season and I did not fire. :)

I have Stainless shot and plastic balls to sling off. All fun. And yes, I'm big and fat. :)

PCP Rifle  SOLD WTS HATSAN .45 HERCULES BULLY. $125.00

This rifle used to work great but all of a sudden the cocking lever will not lock in full position. I've looked at some how to fix on this site and I tried that. It worked then it didn't by adjusting the screw for the trigger. I've had it with this gun and will sell it for $125.00 which includes shipping in the lower 48 which could cost between $50 to $100. All I ask in return is if whoever decides to buy this and is SUCCESSFUL in solving the problem to please let me...us all know what you did. It has the muzzle adapter for the DFL suppressor. It was a dead on power hitting gun when alive. I thinking have 4 mags to boot.

I'll accept personal check, no sweat.

Joe

Let’s here your opinion, I find this maddening

22 yrs ago I had 3 Diana’s 24. .177 about 410 fps. Is not the fps a problem because I didn’t have a licence to own a gun over 500 fps. Two of the 3 guns the safety housing cracked.
2004 I had to get a gun license, the Government wanted my dad’s guns.
I went to a gun shop and bought a Diana 34 classic .177. Same safety I was bummed out when I saw it and it cracked. I gave a 24 away, traded one for 12 pitas. 😜 and sold the 34 classic, disappointed with plastic breach and safety.
When the 54 Pro came out, had to have a red lam. Took a month to get here and pricey. When I opened the box, it’s probably the longest I ever balled my eyes out. The same plastic parts as the classic.
Now I have a few Weihrauch’s Air Arms and FWB. Don’t recall plastic parts on any of them.
It doesn’t end there. The few months back I pick up two used rifles a Diana 34 premium .177 and a 460 rsw .177. Both these rifles have a different barrel breach. I would take either one on the 54.
The 34 premium is very accurate with a good punch. JSB 10.34 impressed with this one.
Here’s the 54. Plastic

Here’s the 34, steel

Here’s the 460, steel
IMG_5497.jpeg

I’d have more of their rifles if it wasn’t for this.
IMG_5493.jpeg
And I have to mention the safety. Joke IMO.
IMG_5486.jpeg
I like my guns with no plastic, I find it’s cheesy. The guns are all deadly accurate and hard hitters.
But why can they make a breach for two guns ( both different )from steel and not for others? Crow
What do you guys think?

EDgun  Deep scratch on Lelya 2.0 air cylinder

I'm in the process of fixing a leak on my Lelya 2.0. Eventually, I tracked it down to the gauge and contacted EDgun West about it. They were unresponsive, so I turned to EDgun Shop and ordered a replacement gauge from them. That one arrived with what looked like corrosion on it, so I returned it for a Wika, which arrived yesterday. Today, I slid out the air cylinder as carefully as possible so I could degas it and install the new gauge. Upon inspection, I noticed two ~44.5mm parallel scratches on it, with one of them being deep enough to catch my fingernail. Had both been superficial scratches I'd chalk it up to me removing the cylinder. But the deep one concerned me. Something like that would require considerable force. And then there's the issue of them being the same length and completely parallel to one another. It looked like something had repeatedly and consistently scraped across the surface.

IMG_1795.jpg

With these ideas in mind, I took out the calipers and began measuring. One of the first things I noticed was two pins sticking out of the carriage assembly. I measured them.

IMG_1804.jpg

They're approximately 10.84mm apart. Next, I measured how far apart the scratches were.

IMG_1805.jpg

Ah, there we go. 10.84mm on the dot. But what about length? Why would both scratches be ~44.5mm long? Can you guess how far the carriage travels when you cock the gun? That's right! About 44.5mm! But why is one deeper than the other. Well, I almost always grab the left lever when cocking thereby tilting the carriage more to that side.

So, at this point I'm not sure what to do. I'm afraid to fill it, especially considering what happened to that Leshiy. EDgun West ghosted me when I brought up a faulty $30 gauge, so there's no way he'd offer a much more expensive air cylinder. And even if I got a replacement, wouldn't the same thing happen again? Man, the Lelya was supposed to be something I buy and not worry much about it. I really like the form factor, but this thing has so many little problems. Maybe I should've bought something else. In any case, do I fill it up and chance it?

PCP Rifle  NLA WTS Brocock Sniper XR .22 Sahara

WTS Brocock Sniper XR .22 Sahara 32.25" long without silencer, 17" barrel, 7.3lbs and 480cc bottle, factory color, not painted($1,499 value). Purchased from Airguns of Arizona new by me on 01.08.2023. No adjustments or modifications to hammer spring, regulator or trigger. Have not adjusted the power adjustment selector either, just shot the following pellets on high a few times to see what they measured over my chronograph: JSB 18.1 grain @ 805 ish fps, JSB 15.9 grain @ 840’s fps, Predator GTO 11.75 grain @ 910’s fps. Pellets were not weighed, lubed or sorted. Airguns of Arizona chronograph shows: JSB 18.1 grain @ 810’s fps. Item is mint and holds air, have not inserted the fill probe into the air rifle or threaded it to anything. I have not done any long term or comprehensive accuracy testing, the air rifle came filled with 200bar from Airguns of Arizona and I’ve shot it down to about 100bar. Comes with factory box, papers, 0DB 110C silencer ($149 value), one 10 shot factory magazine, three 9 shot CARM magazines ($90 value), two single shot CARM loaders ($60 value), one factory single shot loader, one Magpul 1913 Picatinny Bipod ($100 value). If purchased everything new you would pay easily $1,898. Will sell everything except scope and rings in photo for $1,300 firm, PayPal’s and Shipped to lower 48, friends and family. Will not part any items, not looking for any trades. Only selling because I hardly shoot and any shooting I do I can do with my break barrel. Flawless feedback here under Sedac.

What’s up with the very thin airgun barrels.

I have noticed that many airgun barrels are so thin. Is it because there are less pressure than powder guns. I disassembled my pp700sa and my god under that shroud is a pencil thin barrel. I can’t even see the crown. Also with the muzzle end being threaded there is not much room from threads to crown that the edges of the muzzle is ragged. I have to take the sharp edges off and re crown barrel with brass cone and lapping with valve grinding paste. I’ll take pic of that. Second I used my barrel camera to look inside OMG I don’t know why this barrel shoots lights out with the way it looks.

Surprised how quickly my PCP rifle sold on AGN.

I know that new members here must have "X" # of post before they can sell something. I sort of thought that was silly because I didn't think stuff sold all that much in the classifieds. Man-O-CanO was I wrong!

Last week a placed an ad for my LCS SK-17 and got hits within a few hours and that puppy was SOLD in 24 hours and is on its way to AZ.

Just a few minutes ago I placed another add for my HATSAN BULLY .45 for $125. It needs some TLC that I'm tired of trying to fix. I'm not a gunsmith I guess.?? :)

Make model in pics

I'm trying to help our local 4H program sell off some of their old airguns. According to the director they are in working order. I'm not real familiar with them, just hoping to get 4H some money to fund their newer PCP airguns. Would prefer to sell all 4 as a lot. Will help keep shipping cost down as well. Feel free to contact me via text or call. Phillip @ 208899380three.
Make a fair offer PLUS shipping.

When life takes a hard left turn

Hey fellow pneuma-nuts, been some time since I posted. As with all of us, 2022 was a year of defining moments for me. It began with terrible migrating joint pains that led me to a rheumatologist who confirmed I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. A month later that expanded to RA and Lupus, two similar yet distinct autoimmune diseases that attack joints, muscles, and select organs. By late Fall I added a left hip replacement to my changing health profile. That surgery led to a severe infection in the hip and three more surgeries in the following five months. I now sit on a new set of hardware emplaced yesterday morning and I pray this is the final phase of this turn in my life.

My thoughts of looking for pesting permissions died a slow death as the full extent of my new limitations has become clear; weakened hips and legs and permanently swollen hands do not lend themselves to rambles around farm yards and standing sessions with shooting sticks.

In the end I've found that my airgun collection needs to be adjusted to focus on internally powered airguns: PCPs and CO2s. Multi-pumps and heavy target guns are beyond me now as are low end plinkers with heavy/non-adjustable triggers. Time and again the vagaries of growing older reorder my priorities, going even so far as choices in which airguns can stay and which have to go. I didn't think these kinds of challenges would come so soon in life, but it's a fallen world we live in.

So on we go, already deep into 2023 and all that life brings. I hope you all are prospering in health, home, and every endeavor you embrace. And of course I hope you are shooting straight and safe. Aim small, miss small...and remember that your foundation, in shooting as in every aspect of life, must be firm and trustworthy. May God bless you all.

Soooo, today I feel like it's Christmas.

Sometimes it's the simple things in life that just make a guy smile... New pair of boots, new airgun, new truck, or a nice set of... (This is a family show, so use your imagination.) 😂

I've been looking for a couple extra mags for my Vulcan .22 and Vulcan .25.

They always seem to be out of stock. Well... I found em in the UK. Yay!

I bought 6 total, 3 .22 and 3 .25.

Price, 6 mags for what I'd pay for 3 here in the States. If I can find em. Nice!

It's the little things that make it worth while.

Just thought I'd share. I dunno why... Because I can. 😁

Cheers,

Leyla 2.0, Tapian Veteran, Vulcan - Pros and Cons

Anyone have experience shooting all 3? Ive read through a lot of the past threads and find that most folks have used one or the other but never all 3.

Essentially I’m hoping for comparisons. What one does better than the other, shots per fill comparison, quietness/loudness, accuracy, you know the good stuff  Hopefully in .177 or .22

Outstanding glass you won't believe

I said to my self I will never buy Chicom scopes but the quality coming from some are just unreal.

A few years ago when I hear Discovery scope I think of the TV channel making scope, what a joke.

But now the joke is on me. Their line of ED scopes are really really clear. The price is unbelievable for what you get. I have bought the 3-15x50, PRS 4-20x52-34mm tube and the PRS

5-25x56-34mm ALL ED GLASS. The ED glass is like 1000 dollar scopes. The turrets are enormous tactile awesome clicks with zero stop.

Trust me when I say these are the best bang for the buck you can get.

There is also a new ED PRS 5-40x56-35mm but I think the mag is a bit high. They also have the HD glass but I have not tried. I think ED is better for clarity.

Also get them from Wes in Canada Airgun Archery Fun. He is awesome to deal with.

I have bought scopes from Vector Optics their top of line is over 1000. Their 34mm line is good quality but for those prices its expensive also its not ED glass. Their lower lines are not great quality i have returned some of them d/t problems.

Stuff you forgot you have!

It's been raining off and on these past couple of days so there was no better time to clean up and organize my gun room after work yesterday. As I was picking up I noticed a tube which had a barrel in it propped up in the corner. I bought this HW 22cal 24"barrel for a project from Mac 1 years ago.. I had it on a QB78 that I made into a PCP.. later I made it a 25cal and forgot about the 22 barrel.. thinking back this is a very accurate barrel I had in mind for a later project someday. Today I think I have decided to machine it to use on my RTI compact. I thinking it would be a great project and shooter..

Need advice please.

I am new to this forum and it seems like there is a wealth of knowledge and experience here. Sorry in advance for how long and complicated this is:

I am looking for a PCP for pest control. I have a 9 acre ranch with almonds on it. The place is overrun with ground squirrels (100’s if not 1000’s of them!) and are causing havoc. The squirrels are skittish, hear EXTREMELY well, and believe it or not have learned the shape of a rifle (literally will stand there staring at me 30 feet away if I don’t have my gun but won’t get within 150 yards of me if they see my rifle!) They have even figured out a way to get into the walls of my house from underground and line my tiled roof every morning as lookouts! Lol My ranch is surrounded by residential housing that is approximately 500 – 700 yards away from where I will be shooting, hence why I am not using a conventional firearm.

I purchased 2 springer's to help with the situation, a Gamo Fusion .177 and a Gamo Swarm Magnum .22 and my son and I have dispatched countless with them. I found that the .177 seemed to be more accurate at 75 – 80 yards, but the kill power was not there, especially if hitting them at shorter ranges like 40-50 yards as the pellets seemed to go right through with little damage (most of them made it back to their hole where I assumed they died a not so good death, which brings ethics into the mix.) I also found several issues I had with the springer's: 1) a huge learning curve to shoot them accurately. 2) I have a bum shoulder and cocking them is painful. 3) I have broken 3 “airgun” scopes due to the double recoil. I am hoping that a PCP with a decent scope and a fill compressor will be my solution. I have set aside a budget of $1,500, but could go a little if I had too, but that would mean having to sleep outside with the dog if my wife finds out!

I have read dozens of articles/blogs and watched countless youtube videos about PCP’s but none seem to address all of my specific needs/variables. I am currently leaning toward purchasing a regulated Marauder, with a scope and fill compressor, but not sure if that is just pissing money away based on my needs.

These are my needs: Accurate at 100 yards (+); Enough power to humanely kill ground squirrels at that distance; not so much power as to endanger the neighbors, and quiet. Not asking for much, I know! Lol

My questions are: 1) What is the best caliber pellet for my needs .22, .25, or .30? 2) Is there a budget PCP that will fit the bill or will I need to keep saving? 3) What would be a good scope for this situation?

Thank you if you read it all the way to the end. Any opinions/suggestions are welcome.

Low Powered .177

While I was reading comments on a thread I had posted; I had seen.someome mention that there was not an area for low powered .177 slingers.
Make me think; I'll just start one🤔🤷‍♂️
Not exactly sure the parameters they were speaking of BUT I know I have some low powered stuff!
Feel free to add/comment/etc🤗
So!
Let's see what you all have!

My set-up

Here's how I set up my Yong Heng. After a 15 minute run to top off my 30 min scba tank the cotton filters in the small gold filter after the coalescing filter seem to be completely dry, the baby filter at compressor is empty - no cotton, just used to make my connection.

I think I'll call my drying / filter system good unless anyone has any suggestions. As for cooling water I'm trying a couple different things but haven't hit 50c during a 15 minute run yet.

Leaderboard rank?

Didn't know or realized that our post...## or whatever was monitored. I was just notified that I ranked 17 for last month for number of post. Not something I want to challenge or be #1 at for sure.

Last week I was notified that I was #4 or 5 for number of post that week. Guess I best keep to myself some.?

Just like hanging out here once in awhile, that's all.

Either way...its all cool.
