FX  FX Impact sniper M3 700mm .22 with heavy liner

Hi guys!

I'm new to the FX Impact M3 world, so I'm trying to find the way to get the best of my gun. I have a 700mm .22 with a superior heavy liner, the rest is stock. My objective is to shoot medium weight slugs (~25 gr) with precision as far as possible. I don't really care about sacrificing the total number of shots that I can get out of my bottle.

I'm currently pushing JSB KnokOut slug 25.39 gr .217 at about 930 FPS average. These are my tuning settings:

First reg: 155 bar
Second reg: 115 bar
Macro: 16
Micro: 4 and 3/4
Valve: 4 lines

I'm still getting quite a high standard deviation in FPS but the gun is nearly new, so it should take some time to settle.

Do you think that I should push for higher FPS for my objectives? Can I achieve that by simply increasing the pressure of both regulators?

Thank you

RWS  Diana RWS 48 cocking arm locked up

image.jpg
Just got this d48 and on the 2nd shot after I cocked the arm back it won’t go back into position. It didn’t cock very smoothly wondering if this would need to be sent for repair or any easy way to unlock it. The seller said it was sitting in the safe for years and is in excellent condition so maybe never getting oiled is a factor. I also have a d48 in .177 and never had this issue and the arm on that one always cocks and goes back into position smoothly.

RAW Rapid  Polygon Vs Standard Rifling for Slugs??

G'day all,

Whats everyone found is best for slugs in 22cal? Polygon or standard rifling? I have RAW HM1000X .22cal that I use for WRABF 50m Unlimited Air and the current barrel is very hit n miss so considering a new barrel to replace it.

Yes Ive tried pellets, etc and everything throws crazy wierd flyers even in nil wind conditions.

Thanks in advance.

Umarex Notos Budget to Gucci build

Started life as a basic Notos, i wanted to see just how far i could push the platform. The goal is to tune for 22 Fx Hybrid slugs at or around 960fps. I started this project for fun, as when i started into airguns building crosman 2240 2250 etc etc QB co2 rifles all onto pcp rifles. It has been alot of fun and have smiled from beginning to end.

Things ive addeded-
500mm Fx liner system
Buckrail chassis
Huben power regulator drop block
300cc carbon bottle
Sabertactical vertical grip
Magpul prs gen 3 buttstock
C88 machining power plenums
Donnyfl Tanto
Carbon fiber Liner sleeve
Utg tactical quick release rings
Sightron S1 4-12x40 MOA 20 scope

I opened up the valve seat and block transferports all to 4mm, along with the plenum transferport. Plenum transferport port is the issue, needs to be larger then 4mm but tricky to do. Ordered a new valve poppet made from peek and stainless steel. Im looking to swap out the valve return spring for something just a bit lighter as to open the valve at higher reg pressures. So far ive been able to pull 35 foot pounds. But i need to pull at least 10 more for the end goal.

Rifle will be used as a small game hunter.

WFTC Arizona

Well the first day is over and I want to send out a big round of applause to Garrett and his crew for an absolutely stunning course. I did not shoot as well as I had hoped but that wasn't because of the course.

I have never shot wftf Style field Target before so going in I wasn't expecting much but I did as good as I had expected. It did get warm this afternoon but what do you expect from Phoenix?

There did not seem to be any major hiccups along the course, all the targets fell if you hit them in the right spot. They were also a good variety of shots from Cross Canyon shots to 45° angle shots up on the rocks. Overall I think they did a tremendous job and now I just have to get my crap together!

Air Venturi  Looking for a good PCP compressor

Hi,

I have a HPA tank as well as a 250z barra and i'm looking for a really good bang for my buck with an air compressor.

I'm looking at this one:

and am wondering if this is recommended?

I also saw a user selling an air venturi here:

and am wondering what the better choice would be for the dollar/value.

... i also realize as i'm new to the forum that i wont be able to PM the seller of the air venturi for 10 days as well given the forum rules with PM delivery. So there's that as well... hmm.

Looking for a recommendation. I appreciate it!

Thanks!

Taipan Veteran I failure to fire

Hello,
I am a gunsmith and had a customer bring me a Taipan Veteran I. It has 200 Bar pressure but will not fire. The trigger moves as it should and I opened the side and all the sears hammers and springs appear to be in the correct place and not broken. If the side handle is supposed to cock the gun it does not. If I manually cock the gun and pull the trigger it still does not fire.

Another question what does the green dot next to the pressure knob mean and what is the indicator for the pressure knob (up down sideways)?

Are there any reference pubs other than the owners manual that is extremely vague.

Thanks.

It was hard work, and a lot of fun...

A few of us went to a large wheat and sheep farm about 110km North of Cape Town for a bit of pest control.
The farm is over 8,000 hectares, almost 20,000 acres in size and has two rivers flowing into a dam of 250 hectares, just over 600 acres in size on the farm.

We left home on Tuesday afternoon to arrive on the farm and settle in.
That was followed by getting ready for the night’s shooting, doing a bit of fishing while the first two of us waited for the other two to arrive.

We were asked to look out for and shoot Egyptian Geese, Guinea Fowl, Spur-winged Geese, Crows, Porcupine, Cape Fox, Cape Hare and Caracal.

Due to the size of the farm we used my 4x4 to drive to the various areas on the farm from where we walked into suitable shooting areas.
There was quite a lot of walking involved, over 30km from Tuesday till this afternoon.

We started at dusk on Tuesday and went through till around 08:00 Wednesday morning, after which we had breakfast and took a bit of a break, followed by a nap till mid early afternoon.

That was followed by a bit of plinking and fishing, had a braai and then hunted again till about midnight.
This morning it was up before sunrise to get into a spot where there are usually a lot of spur-winged geese.

A few photos, I did not photograph all the animals shot, just a few.
Total for the trip…
- 15 Guinea Fowl (I shot 7)
- 3 Cape Hare (I shot all three, all off-hand at about 50m)
- 8 Egyptian Geese (I shot 4)
- 2 Crows (I shot both)

Most of the edibles are given to the farm workers who are all too happy to receive it, but I kept two of the Cape Hare and will find suitable dishes to make over the next few weeks.

We are going back in two weeks time for another session which will be the last for the year as there is a holiday resort on the farm next to the dam and it will become busy with December holiday makers. We will start again late January and it will be a regular outing to keep the populations under control once we have it down to the numbers the farmer is happy with.

As usual my Dreamline with 23gr H&N slugs performed perfectly from shots almost straight up into the trees to take Guinea Fowl all the way out to a longest shot of 223m to take an Egyptian Goose.

A few photos… lots of the sunrises as I really enjoyed them...

N/A  Bye Bye Scopes!

When I was a young man, (I’ll be 69 soon) a half century ago, my vision was 20/10 in each eye. I recently had Cataract surgery. I opted for a lens called a LAL. Light Adjustable Lens. Pricey devils. 8K to be exact. My vision in my dominant eye (left) is now 20/15. My right eye lens was adjusted for reading and is 20/20. I can see the fiber in the paper WITHOUT GLASSES! I’ve been scoping guns because I just couldn’t see the front sight clearly any longer. Not now. Another reason to keep the iron sights option open when deciding on a particular model. These three pumpers went from this-to-this today. And more to come!

I Am Feeling Real Bad

Yesterday at Costco, I thought I would get an already cooked pizza or me and son #2.
He is radiologist in MRI training, so I ordered one.
I asked the checker where I should get the pizza?
Outside the door and around the corner.
Two lines.
Single items line and a whole pizza line which was empty so I was first.
The chick asked what type did I buy?
Pepperoni.
She gave me one (I have no clue how long ago it was baked but it was almost warm when I got home (3 miles).
My wife asked, “How much was the pizza?”.
I said I didn’t know, look at the receipt.
$1.99 (+$.17 for Kalifornia).

When my son arrived home I informed him of the price of the pizza.
He said, “No way. It is $1.99 per slice”.
I guess two Costco employees made a mistake.
1. Assuming I was buying a slice.
2. For not checking my receipt.
I suppose I should go back and correct this error, huh?

NOT!
