Beeman  First Groups with used Beeman R9 .20

I got this gun off AOA, might have paid too much but I don't know. It has a Maccari tune kit. Papers from AOA showing just under 12 ft/lbs using H&N FTT 11.42gr pellets. I thought that might be too low but man does this thing shoot smooth, I can't feel anything when cocking it and no twang that I can hear. It came with a Bushnell Banner 4-12 x 40 scope that I am going to have to replace. Not going to say it's junk but I want mil dots. So my option is to take the Hawke off the Hatsan and put on it and then the Bushnell on the HW50S and the original scope back on the Hatsan. I also got a Centerpoint 4-16 somewhere I could put on the Beeman but need high mounts

These were shot at about 50' on a table with a folded blanket to rest my hand on. These were the first shots on paper with the .20 so I'm sure there is room for improvement. I think it likes the H&N pellets better than JSB.

For the targets, I was aiming at the bottom right corner of the black tape. The Hatsan I aimed at the bottom right corner if the duct tape and they shot low.

N/A  I think I've decided on a Scout Epoch....

As any of you that may have been following my previous threads know, I am a total newbie to the PCP world. Ive been researching a LOT of rifles, air supplies. etc and applying the guidance you fine folk have been offering to a clueless newbie. For that guidance I thank everyone who has helped.

Im going to do some more research on it, but I think Ive found what checks all my boxes and then some...the Skout Epoch. I plan to order directly from Skout, and am upgrading to the 580cc bottle, going with standard .22 barrel, and the EVO ARCA rail. Having said all that...the only thing about the rifle i dont like is the fact that its electronic, im old school and electronics just dont appeal to me. I would rather see a model without all the electronic bells and whistles with a reduced price...but i guess it is what it is, maybe i will change my mind on the electronics once its in hand. So, unless i find or read any major negatives on the Skout Epoch in the next day or two, I will take the plunge on one.

Let’s see them work benches

It’s Sunday morning and I figured now would be a good time to do a bit of a clean up. Not what I would call spotless but at least I can see the top of my work bench. I really like the poly sheets from our local hardware store. I think they are how shower lining. Easy to cut to fit and being white , it sure makes it easy to find stray parts. Plan is to give the 9 x 12 a little love today also.

Let’s see them workshops , always looking to improve my setup.

IMG_0717.jpeg

FX  Any Ideas

I have an impact mk2 power plenum with X liner that I bought new. Never had any problems and has taken a lot of game and put thousands of rounds thru it. Last fall I had to rebuild the regulator. It shoots minute of squirrel head out to 70 yards, but it really opens up beyond that. Reg is at 80, valve is open producing 900 fps with no creep. Shooting 25.3 redesigned. Do I need more reg pressure? It doesn’t sound like it is using too much air and I get around 70 shots per fill. Barrel is clean. Any ideas?

What’s with JSB these days

I know this has been covered already for the most part but I’m gonna rant anyways. I was just looking at pellet prices , and it’s not like JSB is the only company that have jacked up their prices but dear lord, 30$ CAD for a tin of 500 x 16 grain pellets? 40$ CAD for 400 x 20 grain? We’re getting real close to rim fire money at this point. Next up is the MRD’s , why on gods green earth would there be 4 different pellets with basically the same name? Shallow, deep, light , grand ? Where are the original redesigns? I’m not even going to get started on the price of slugs. Simply ridiculous.

I’m going out to cast another few thousand 28 grain .218 HP BBT’s . I’ll size to my rifle and call it a day. I sure hope the new rifle likes them.

Kalibrgun  Charlie Frear comes through again

There are only three things that can be said about Charlie Frear at Georgia Airguns. First, he is a really nice guy. Second, he can totally be trusted to do what is right for his customers. Third, he can really make an airgun shoot.

The photo below shows my third airgun experience with Charlie. While there was one hiccup that he took care of without hesitation or question during the course of three transactions, this latest result is somewhat of a hybrid to effect both Charlie's and my accuracy demands.

This is a Kalibrgun Cricket II Tactical 60, featuring the barrel switched out from my previous Cricket II Long, powered tuned by Charlie to shoot the 18.1 series pellets. He also changed out the factory regulator, exchanging it for a HUMA.

The results are shown below with ten shot groups from my indoor 18 yard range of .04" and a 13 shot group at 81.9 yards in a light wind and rain shot earlier this morning. It measured right at 1" c-t-c.

The 18.1s are leaving the muzzle at 970 fps and I can get about 60
shots with a 270 bar fill.

I couldn't be more pleased.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Weirauch HW100 Carbine .177

Hi, all:
I‘m gravitating more towards my spring rifles these days, and have decided to sell all but my Steyr pcp. Bought new from AOA in October, 2023, this is a really nice target or hunting gun that is tuned down to under 13 ft lbs, but of course, can be adjusted for higher power. It is easily capable of 1 MOA groups at 50 yards on calm days. the rifle‘s stock is nicely figured walnut, with no marks or imperfections I could see. I have included a Weirauch single shot loader plus the two factory supplied magazines, and have installed a Rowan front sling mount and a Bisley adjustable butt pad. Will also include a complete seal set for future maintenance.
I think the breech seal is in need of replacing but other than that the gun has had a pretty leisurely life and is absolutely mint.
Rifle will ship in the original box with all accessories originally supplied. I will cover insured UPS shipping to CONUS, $750 firm. I’m happy to answer any questions or to discuss by email or phone. Thanks.

FX  FX Impact M4 Sniper problem. Help needed!

I have a problem with my M4. I was at the range today and have no pressure on the rear gauge. I was shooting the rifle at 250 bar on the front reg, 150 bar on the rear, front adjuster in front below the barrel was at the 4th line, hammer adjustment at 12 and the micro at 3.5. Rifle was shooting good. Then had a loud pop and burst of air by my cheek against the cheek riser. So where should I start looking? What might be the problem? This is my first PCP rifle.

Taipan  Baptized the new Taipan Vet 2 today

I received a new Taipan .22 Long ADF with 700mm barrel last week. Mounted a new DNT Optics FFP 7 X 35 X 56mm 34mm scope on this rifle. It is strictly for the bench and although I did not weigh it I think it is a little over 12lbs with the 42oz 34mm scope.

I plan to use it for 30 and 40Y Target Challenge and also N50 50Y targets.

Today, I shot it at 52 yards at my local outdoor range. Got there at 8:40am, and had the range to myself …..for all of 15 minutes. Saturdays are crowded typically, but I had about an hour with only me and one other shooter.

I met a nice young man named Andrew who was 26 years old ( I’m 71) and he had a huge interest in Air Guns and my new Taipan. He has an M4 Impact and seemed to be very familiar with air rifles. I meet some of the nicest people at the range.

Distance: 52 yards
Group shooting and testing with pellets
Ammo: JSB 20.83g Lights and JTS 22.07g
Scope - see above
Wind: 3-7mph, with a fairly steady 4-5 mph
No Flags today since I started with group shooting
SST only, no mags today

A couple of initial impressions:

Front cocking lever is sublime and much better than my original rear cocking .25 Long Vet 1. A very crisp cocking cycle. One odd thing is that sometimes it did not cock. But, I figured out that if I pulled trigger thru release after firing each shot, it went back to cocking fully every time.

Trigger - about 6-8/10oz as I requested from Tony. Perfect for me. Crisp 1st stage stop with buttery smooth 2nd stage release

The Taipan moderator is very good, but when I took my muffs off, it did have a louder hammer strike. NP for me, as this is a BR gun.

Accuracy - 1st outing but it is impressive at 52Y with a fair amount of wind. The 22.07g JTS did much better than the 20.83 lights. However, I know the lights shoot very well from Dillon’s recent review. Tony tested with AEA 21.9g at 30 y, ragged hole and a 10 shot string <10 ES at 910 FPS average.

I plan to use this thread to do some testing with other pellets and occasionally will post results for other interested parties.

I did like the original Taipan Long Vet 1 .25 that I purchased several years back, but since it was rear cocking and I am a lefty, it was awkward reaching back over my shoulder to cock it on the left side of rifle, for me anyway. .
