Pulled off a Maverick dual tune!

Ok, I just couldn't lose the itch to try slugs in my Maverick VP. I tried a few different slugs in the past, got OK groups but never as good as my pellets.

Yesterday I decided to give it another try. My rifle is .25 cal and tuned to shoot 34 grain JSB's. It's hole in hole at 30 yards when I do my part.

To start my process I confirmed through the chrono that it likes the pellets to leave the muzzle at 890, I had the power wheel at 7.
So I turned the wheel to 6 and then upped the second reg until I was back at 890, this ended up being 119-120 on the rear gauge. Shot lights out.

Next I loaded up with NSA 29 gr slugs and power wheel at 5. At 30 yards I had quarter sized groups with an occasional flyer. As I turned up the power wheel they got smaller and even at 6 no more flyers. Went up to 7 and bam, groups as tight as my pellets. I didn't use the chrono as I didn't want to be biased in my tune. FPS didn't matter, only group size. After the initial tune I put 45 slugs through the rifle and all the 5 shot groups were a ragged hole.

Next I went across the street to a neighbors for a try at continuing my slug experiment on squirrels. His back fence straight out is 50 yards so at angles it's obviously a little longer. The squirrels like to run the ground along the fence. I felt squirrels at 50 yards plus would give me my final answer. Within about ten minutes four squirrels were down. All were head shots pretty much where I aimed. Two in the side of the head were pretty much missing the other side of the head when I retrieved. Two were head on. Three of the four dropped in their tracks without a flinch. One hit in the side of the head dropped then did two flops.

I'm pretty thrilled with the outcome and being able to switch back and forth between pellets and slugs with the turn of a dial.

FYI today I chono'd the slugs and was getting 937. One added benefit I noticed was a ten shot string had eight shots at 937 and two at 935 so a bit more consistent than the pellets.

PCP General Question

This question is about my FX Impact.

I had a full fill of 250 bar. After the first 28 shot magazine I noticed I was down to 200 bar and thought ”wow, I won’t get 100 shots out of this”. The next mag took it down about 30, and each additional mag went down less. I stopped at 100 bar, where the 2nd reg is set and that was 5 mags (140 shots). I didn’t have the chronograph setup and was only watching for an impact change on the target which I didn’t see.

Is this normal to use more air when tank pressures are higher? I’ve left it filled for several days with no change in pressure so there doesn’t appear to be a leak. No complaints about the number of shots, just seemed odd.

Tuning  FX Impact mk2 sniper saved from sale by improving it

My friend has Impact mk2 with PP and 700mm barrel in .22. He was not happy with it as it was not giving him his desired accuracy.

He sold this gun to me at lower price. I disassembled the gun completely and inspected everything and modified and improved those areas that I normally improve.

Tuned for .22 25 grain redesigned pellets.

Now he is happy with the results hence I am returning it to him and getting my funds back.

Regards,

Umair Bhaur

NLA HUGE .25 cal Delta Wolf Package deal!

NOTE! I am marking this as NLA because I re-listed it with less included in the package. I will still honor this package deal if you're interested. The rifle and all accessories listed are all still available!

This rifle only has a few hundred rounds through it and already shoots just as good as my EBR winning Red Wolf! One of the only reasons I didn't bring it to EBR this year was that I wanted to compete in the one gun challenge. When I take into consideration that I've hardly done any tuning to it, I know that it has plenty of potential waiting for someone to bring it to that next level!

I am selling this as a package deal and I am not interested in separating it, at this time.

This .25 cal Delta Wolf. rifle package will include,
4 .25 cal Daystate magazines!!
Daystate Delta/Alpha Wolf Programmer!
Hawke Frontier 5-30x56 scope! (18-441)
PRS Arca/Picatinny rail
PRS
Bag Rider
1/2x20 Silencer adaptor
Donny FL Shogun
Accu-Tac FC-4 G2 Bipod!
10 tins
of your choice .25 JSB MKII's or Rangemaster Pellets!!
Daystate poly rifle case
all original parts, rails, thread protectors, paperwork, etc.
This is a huge package worth over $5750! Everything is in excellent to like new condition except for some dust here and there.

I'm asking $4750 for all of it, shipped and insured (conus only). The rifle will be double boxed. The rest of the package will be shipped in an additional 2 boxes.
Trades considered but, I'm only interested in a Red Wolf in .25 standard, .22 standard, .25 long... plus money to make up the difference.
Paypal F&F preferred or, add applicable fees. Venmo and certified check are also acceptable.

SOLD WOLVERINE R 22 cal HP. Beautiful safe queen package deal!

This is THE model that Airguns Of Arizona used for pictures on their website! It's a beautiful rifle and shoots excellent!
This is one of the only rifles that has ever challenged for the top spot of, "sweetheart rifle" in my collection and it was a hard decision to sell it. It has mainly sat in my gun safe though, and that's the reason why I've decided to let it go.
I have installed a picatinny rail on the bottom for bipod use. Other than that it is unmodified. This pic rail is a low profile BT-34 from Atlas. I wanted to keep it small so that it did not take away from the beauty of the rifle.
It is shown with a Hawke scope installed but, will come with a BRAND NEW AZTEC Emerald 5-25x50 scope! (AZT-E552550) and scope rings.
It also comes with an ATLAS CAL Gen 2 Bipod! (BT65-LW17) It's used but, in almost new condition. The CAL was designed by Atlas to be a smaller version of the big 5-H F-class bipod. It's a little wider than the V-8 and PSR and has a better tilt lock.
I am also including 5 tins of Monster redesigns, and 1 tin of Hades!
Original box and related paperwork will all be included as well. Rifle will be shipped double boxed and insured. All other accessories will be shipped in a separate box. This package retails at over $3000!

Asking 2250 shipped and insured. Conus only. Paypal F&F preferred or add applicable fees. Venmo, and certified check are accepted as well.
I am not interested in selling just the rifle at this time.

FX Impact/Maverick Compact or Brocock Ghost??

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for some wisdom here on making a decision about my next purchase.

I am a Long Time shooter, getting my 1st air rifle (Crosman 1400) back in 1974, but I am new to PCP's, since my only PCP so far is a Gen 1 Marauder.

I decided that I want a 25 cal FX Impact Compact or Maverick Compact or a Brocock Ghost...with Donny FL.

The new gun will be for casual shooting...target and backyard plinking, plus small game/pest shooting.

I won't be adjusting or tinkering with the settings and I don't own a Chronograph.
As a matter of fact, I will ask whoever I buy it from to set it up and tune it for me, at max power with the best accuracy possible using JSB Exact King Heavy pellets...and then I will probably never touch the settings after that.

Also, which airgun source do you suggest that I buy from who will put the gun together for me, tune it with the JSB's, and chrono it etc?

I would GREATLY appreciate your thoughts, suggestions, and comments!

Thank you!

The Classifieds are horrible right now (is the economy really that bad???)

Hello AGN:

The Fall is when I leave the golf course and pick up my PCPs again. Part of that annual ritual involves buying a bunch of new items that I "need" to start up shooting again (the fun part) and selling off all the extras that I no longer need (the not so fun part). Selling on forum classifieds are always an adventure but I've noticed that it's been particularly brutal this year and am wondering what's behind it...

Lowball offers have always been and will always be an issue so I'm not even talking about those (although I did get a super nice half price offer on a $1,200 rifle that AT WORST would need a $100 replacement part if not a free fix altogether with the right tools/know how). What I've found interesting are repeated offers that are $5 (five dollars) off of my $50 or $60 items . . . and they're hard limits too - meaning that the buyer states that they don't have the budget to spend the extra $5 to make the purchase!

I'm in Sales by profession so I deal with negotiations on a daily basis and am not necessarily put off by them. I'm fine with haggling over discounts of 5 or 6 figures because it makes sense to negotiate in those instances . . . but not for FIVE DOLLARS!!! So while it wouldn't kill me to knock off $5 on an item, the Sales guy in me doesn't want to do it just out of principle because it's kind of ridiculous IMO. My pricing policy is the same as it has always been: I price my well cared for, like new items at 10-20% off from what it would cost to buy new - and you don't have to pay taxes or shipping. In years past, that would lead to most items selling pretty quickly at the asking price. That's not the case this year; people want their $5 off! [Yeah, I get it...everyone wants to feel like they're getting a good deal but $5???]

So is it the economy and the looming recession or what other reason(s) are driving these $5 negotiations?

First Blood with TX 200

After having my TX 200 for about two months, I finally dispatched my first tree rat with it. The first pic, sorry for the quality, was taken yesterday while the TX was downstairs. When I woke up this morning my wife asked why my gun buggy or “baby buggy” was in the living room? I replied “ I just wanted to be ready” and sure enough, 8:00am this morning they were out there just running a muck in my trees. The one that I shot ended up seeing me and went way up higher in the tree to the nest. I could see lots of movement up there, then all of a sudden I saw on poke out on to a dead branch. Just as I was about to break the sear he disappeared back to the nest. I was patient though and the third time he popped out I broke the sear and he dropped like a sack of potatoes! This was one of my most satisfying rat drops that I’ve had! 😁

Can dirty air damage it? What should i try to help it? Where does creep even happen?

Known good fill station US made SCBA tank

I have a used Scott SCBA tank on the way. I believe it has the standard US CGA347 threaded fitting This photo is supposed to be what is on the tank now:

If someone could recommend a medium priced adapter on ebay or amazon you have actually used, that has a bleed valve, gun side pressure gauge and a whip with female quick connect, it would be appreciated. I would like a whip that is longer than 60 cm / 2 feet if possible.

My 3 Month PCP Journey

It has been 3 months since I purchased my first PCP air rifle. I now own 4**. If I keep this trend going, by this time next year I should have at least 18, right? Here is the journey so far.

I own or have shot the following air rifles and I will list them in my personal order of which ones I enjoyed shooting the most.

  • FX Impact M3 500mm 22 and 700mm 30 (This was the most consistently accurate with the widest range of pellets and slugs, including CPHPs and my cast NOE 55 gr HPs, of any of the others below.) (Borrowed)
  • Uragan 2 - 22 - I prefer this rifle over the FX as far as the trigger, the built in moderator and how nice it is to shoot off hand. Same accuracy level as the FX but did not shoot any slugs well. The regulator is not easily adjusted, but I see this gun as a hunting rifle that shoots heavier pellets superbly with no adjustments of any kind. (Borrowed)
  • RTI Prophet 2 -22 and 30 - nice compact gun with a very good trigger and excellent accuracy with a wide range of ammo. More difficult to swap barrels than the FX, but not too bad. Very easy to tune. The only thing I would want on one if I owned it is a sliding cheek rest that covers the magazine opening completely when in the ready to shoot position. (Borrowed)
  • Hatsan Factor RC 22 Cal - My 2nd purchased PCP gun. I bought it because of the price. ($830 shipped on sale) Very close in accuracy to the three high dollar guns above, but at half to almost 1/3 the price. It took a while to break it in but it shoots great after about 400 rounds. It loves the cheap CPHP pellets which is a big bonus. My only complaints - The trigger is too difficult to set as light as I want and the scope rail is not a true Picatinny.
  • Umarex Gauntlet 30 - Got a good deal on one to try shooting cast slugs. Better than I had hoped for with the NOE 55 gr HP cast from pure lead. It also shoots JSB Jumbo Heavy and Monster Redesigned pellets almost as well as the FX M3 at the top of the list. It is LONG and Heavy, but for the money, well worth it.
  • Beeman 2027 pistol in .177 with a scope and a Buck Rail folding buttstock on it, my 4th PCP purchase - Almost as accurate as the FX at 20 yards and it cost me $118 for the complete gun with two mags and a single shot tray.
  • Marauder Pistol / Prod - This used to be right below the RTI, but that Beeman is growing on me. My 3rd PCP purchase. Not as accurate as any of the guns above except if I feed it H&N 14.3 g FTT pellets. It does well enough with CPHPs off hand for a walking gun with more reach and power than the the Beeman 2027.
On pumps - I have two. A portable GX CS3 and a Yong Heng. If I had a do-over I would probably go with the Yong Heng and a couple of used SCBA tanks. I have never needed to refill the guns in the field more than could be handled with couple of 60 minute SCBA tanks or a single 9 liter.

Time to fill the Uragan from 2800 PSI to 4500
  • 3 minutes with the Yong Heng and the black filter / trap that came with it plus a small blue one. This is all I need when the air is dry.
  • 9 minutes with the Yong Heng and a large Tuxing two stage water trap / combo filter setup. Overkill probably for dry days, but nice to have when it is REALLY humid - around 35%!! or during the monsoons when the RH is oppressive for this desert dweller.
  • 13 minutes with the GX CS3 and the external blue water trap / filter. Not a drop of moisture in the 2nd filter so far, with max RH of 38%. The water trap on the CS3 model is impressive.
The GX will fill my Prod in about 3 minutes and less than one minute with the Yong Heng and just the black and small blue filters.

**(Not counting the broken Nova Freedom that has been in a box in the closet for over a year, since I never did fill it from a pump or tank, just the built in pump.)

Uragan issue and uragan testing today

Loving the uragan. 30, it's a laser and rugged... except the screw holds the forward most portion of the cocking lever to rifle came loose and I lost it while shooting. Guess I shoulda done a bolt check when I got it....

Anyone know what size the screw is so i can replace it lol? @zx10wall ?

Anyways
