Eye relief suggestions

So I’m new to this sight, also new to air guns, I used to hunt many years ago but always had problems with eye relief. I have pretty bad eyesight. At the time I was using a shotgun and just turned the magnification up all the way. I am not sure where to start. I don’t even have a gun yet but working on it. Does anyone have any scope suggestions?

Conflicting Max Fill Information - FX Impact M3

I found a bunch of threads that have discussed this but never did see a response from FX, just statements from individuals that they prefer not to fill over 220 or maybe 230 BAR and some saying FX recommends not going over 250 BAR even though you can go to 300 BAR with the FX M3 which might be true. They sure didn't say so in the owner's manual, which would be the logical place to make recommendations. The current FX Impact M3 owner's manual clearly states that the max system fill is 300 Bar NOT 250 Bar. I have seen photos of some FX M3 guns what have a dial that goes beyond 300 BAR. The dial on the FX M3 I have in my hands stops at 250 BAR. The engraving on the gun says max 250 Bar so that is two votes from FX for 250 max and one vote for 300 max. If it was a democracy based gun, then I suppose 250 BAR would win. It sure seems contradictory to me to recommend two rather widely apart (720 PSI) max fill levels, both in writing, arriving in the same box.

Caught this guy sleeping

It's pouring rain here and I'm in the garage organizing my tools. I take a look outside and notice this grey sitting in a knot of my silver maple. Head just sticking out, perfect. Tree is only 10 yards from the back door so I held over an inch and a half and put a JSB Hades right in the noggin with 50 fpe out of the Kral Jumbo.
It deformed his head from the pressure and look at the chunk out of his shoulders!

Crown vs RAW HM1000X LRT

I have a FX Crown Continuum in .22. I have not spent much time shooting it as of this time. Haven’t even tried the 700mm barrel yet. I mouned a Aztec Emerald and sighted it in and am quite happy with the results so far, maybe 200 rounds through it. JSB 18.13’s so far work pretty good, I’ve only shot out to 50 yards. Don’t really have much desire to shoot past that but do see myself trying 100 yards for the heck of it probably next spring. I like shooting tiny targets out to fifty at present.
Anyway, I’ve got the itch to buy something, don’t know why, and the RAW HM1000X LRT with no moderator, see photo.
My question, will I be gaining anything by buying the RAW or do I already have something fully capable compared to the HM1000X LRT ?

Shopping for air rifle. Seems like FX is most popular?

I am and have always been a rimfire guy for gophers and other rodents. I have wanting something for backyard target practice that will be somewhat quiet. We also have serious urban issue of gophers where rimfires just wpuldn't be allowed but I could get away with some air rifle shooting at certain locations. I watched a video on the impact m3 and it seems pretty top notch. Is that thing overkill foe what my purposes? Any other options?

That’s more like it

I have been super frustrated with my new HW 95 .177 cal. I tried all the usual pellets that shoot best in my other HW rifles, No luck. I could not get it to shoot acceptable. After about 1000 high-quality soft lead pellets, I decided what if I got to lose. I cleaned all the soft lead residue out of the bore and tried crossman premier 7.9’s That’s more like it. This is 10 shots at 50 yards with Iron sights. Aside from that one flyer that’s about as good as I have done.

Pellet Head Size Investigations

I got a P35 in 177 (and 22) in June of this year and have enjoyed figuring out what pellets it likes and making other adjustments. I've mainly been using H&N 10.65 grain pellets including the copper plated "Power", the Barracuda, and the Barracuda Match in both 4.5 and 4.52 head size. I initially noticed the Power shot better than the 4.52 Match I had on hand and wondered if it was the 4.5 head size of the Power. A tin of 4.5 Baracuda seemed to confirm that.

Then I noticed a tin of Crosman 10.5 grain in my collection and tried them, not expecting much. To my surprise they shot as well as the H&Ns. I shot a 184 with this gun on the 30 yard challenge with both the H&N Baracuda Match and the Crosman 10.5s. Since the Crosmans were so much cheaper I got a couple more tins. They don't shoot even close to the same. Why? Suspecting head size, I ordered a PelletGauge. It arrived yesterday and I started testing.

I had 18 from the "Good Tin" of Crosmans left to test. So I tested those and a sample of 20 pellets of several other types:

Good Crosmans were between 4.55 and 4.51 with most pellets at 4.54
First tin of bad Crosmans ranged from 4.55 to 4.46 (the full range of the gauge) with 4.54 and 4.52 being the most common
Second tin of bad Crosmans also had the full range of sizes with 4.51 and 4.46 the most common

Based upon these results I decided there was indeed a head size difference in the Crosman tins. I decided to test the other types I had been shooting.

Baracudas were 4.54 to 4.5 with the highest quantity 4.52.

Baracuda Power were 4.52 to 4.49 with the greatest quantity at 4.51

I opened a tin of Baracuda Match 4.5s I have not shot and they measured 4.5 to 4.46 with 4.5s the most common.

Baracuda Match 4.52s were all 4.53 to 4.51 with 4.52 the most common.

The similarity of the Match 4.52s to the others I thought shot better caused me to retest accuracy and I found they shoot well at this point. I am not sure if the gun has gotten broken in or my previous testing was bad.

Then I took the tin of Crosmans with the most 4.46 head size pellets and sorted out 10+ for a couple more groups. They were bad, well over an inch at 100 feet (which I used for all the accuracy testing). So it seems my gun does not like small head size.

Then I sorted the rest of that tin of nearly 500 pellets. I got usable quantities of all 10 head sizes of the gauge. Today I shot those. I won't go into the same gory detail on that exercise but it seems my gun likes 4.49 through at least 4.54 head size pretty well. I got 5 shot groups around 1/2 inch with all those sizes. 4.55 was not as bad as the small sizes but was a bit bigger. My little 20 pellet samples did not find 4.55 head sizes except in the Crosmans. Crosman Match pellets were more consistent in head size but the tendency of the 4.5s to trend toward the small end of the head size range for the outliers will probably cause me to use the 4.52s going forward. Or just stick with the slightly cheaper Baracudas. Their range of head size is bigger but they had nothing in the problematic small range. Given the variability in pellets, it is probably safer to pay slightly more to get the 4.52s.

54 yard head shots on rats…

Saw these shifty bastages while I happened to have my Atomic XR set up for a plinking session. A bad coincidence for them, two MILS of holdover, sending Crosman Premier Domes, TP on high, scope at 12x, IR on. The wind from the north sub 5 mph. Went four for four on my first try. Missed twice on my second go round. But capped the evening by going five for five, finishing up with that piece of chalk (chippers head). I’m typically sniping targets the size of the chalk and black walnut husk pictured. So those rats really had no chance.🤓

LPVO or similar with parallax adjust AND long eye relief?

I'm looking for a scope for my Leshiy Classic. Most of the shooting I do with it is standing, unsupported. I'd like one that is small, low-powered (preferably variable power) and has a) parallax adjustment to 10 yards; and b) long eye relief. Like 5" or so of eye relief. I'm having trouble finding a scope that meets those criteria. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looking "airgun friendly" vacation rental where I can shoot up to 600+ yards on the property in California.

I've ruled out BLM land to practice long range shooting. Now looking for a vacation rental property in Northern or Central California that allows airgun target shooting up to 600 yards. Most likely a property of around 5 to 10 acres. Does not have to be a 5 star rating, just something nice and comfortable for me and my wife. I target shoot all day and my wife enjoys what is available in the area. (shopping)

Does a place I describe exist?
