For a quiet AR style stock...

For anyone that has a gun that uses an AR (rifle) style stock, and wishes for something nicer and that doesn't rattle, read on. Seems like there is a few different guns out there.

I bought a couple of stocks to see what I'd replace the rattley, Magpul stock on my new American Air Arms, EVOL 15" rifle.
I really don't like the Magpul stock at all. I found a nice wood stock that wasn't too bad in cost, this, Odin Works, Zulu 2.0 stock.

It's very solid, highly adjustable for length, and also butt pad height, and rotation. The buffer tube has a nice foam cheek pad that's comfortable. Very easy to install. Has a (double) location for a strap at the back of the receiver. Should hold up well to any field abuse.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it for those that might be interested.

Compressor vs Carbon Tank

I am getting older and carrying a scuba tank around is just not comfortable anymore. I am going to start shooting again after about a ten year absence. I see they now have small portable compressors available that could possibly be used onsite. For those who have them are they good enough to be used alone are should I just go ahead and buy one of the newer carbon fiber tanks? If the tank is the way to go then I can read the previous threads to decide on which one.
I shoot a CZ 200 with a scope. It has the removeable gas cylinder. Pic attached

New toys

Couple of new ,one new ,one used actually toys, the p17 is a bear to cock so I got the Chiappa for the ten meter basement shooting also to help with the 22lr bullseye league Midway has a couple left $419,sweet cocking about a third the beeman and a trigger just as nice , shoots awesome I know the family get togethers are gonna have some competitions. The Atomic came from AoA used, $150 below new, extra mag ,Odb moderator and a Harris red dot,the extras alone are over $300 plus used no sales tax that was like 43 bucks. So I saved around $500 buying used, and the gun came as described like new cond. not a scratch on it. The only thing I found wrong and no way AoA would even check this is a allen cap is stripped on the trigger slide for adjusting the position of trigger but I can live with it where it’s at,so after a rescheduled delivery day and getting the deliveries just after supper I wake up to 15 mph winds gusting to 20 and of course the last two days were dead calm. The Odb was still loud so I put on the Tko and it’s super quiet now, put the Odb on my Concept and it works a lot better on there just as quiet as the Tko my RedRyder is louder than both these, added my bug buster and UTG bipod and I’m ready to throw some lead, I shot as carbine last night with the red dot one clip offhand 25 yds half dollar group with Fx8.4s plan on using this for FT

Moderator conflicted

I am loving this site and finding a lot of great information While searching and Trying to figure all this new to me PCP stuff out. I have seen what seems to be conflicting information regarding the legal use of moderators. I saw the post below but I also see many sellers including retailers selling them as if they can swapped from gun to gun. Am I missing something?

Took advantage of Utahs free shipping and sale... who has a caiman or caiman x?

So I just love bullpups, and to be clear, a bullpup does not mean the cocking lever is forward of the cheek weld. The definition of a bullpup for those who don't know , a bullpup is a rifle with its firing grip located in front of the breech instead of behind it or worded another way a rifle that places the action and magazine behind the trigger. I only bring this up because there are members here who knock certain rifles such as the taipan not calling them a true bullpup because of the cocking lever. I like bullpups due to the short stature while still having plenty of barrel length due to the design.

Well yesterday UA had free shipping and the Caiman and Caiman X were on sale. I opted for the Caiman (ive been eyeing them forever!) as it is even shorter than my Taipan Compacts and lighter. I ordered it in .22 w/ natural wood stock and I went with it over other makes because I enjoyed my Katran, I think there is just something about those airguns out of the eastern european block, theyre just really nice ... I am just far more drawn to them after owning my taipans and also the short period I had a katran (that i regrettably traded to try fx) so here I am.

I ordered it with a budget UTG Bugbuster 3-12x32 as this rifle isn't going to have any rests attached to it and is going to be my farm pigeon/indoor off hand pester and while I enjoy my high end scopes, the bugbuster performs well for its price point.

Who here has a caiman? Lets see those setups and hear your thoughts. I really think this is going to compliment my collection really well, really really well.... I have high hopes.

I have been busy, so the groundhogs got comfortable. Now they're really comfortable in groundhog heaven!

I have not had the opportunity to deal with these pest at the rental property, as I have been enjoying the great outdoors on public lands trying to get me some squirrels for the pot. I was able to make my presence known and felt the last few days, and ended up bad for the marmot community!

This video was my longest confirmed kill, at 92 yards. It was particularly rewarding, as this guy was trespassing on my brother's lot, so he got the sniper treatment and more proof the ATN Ballistic Calculator System is putting in good work! #32 for 2022.

The next day, this guy was wandering around without his body armour on, so I sliced both lungs and his heart open with a one and done bodyshot. Just listen to that pop when you watch the real-time portion of the video; he got a really good smacking. He was so pleased with my performance, he decided to do a little dance for me as he drifted off into oblivion!

CA squirrel opener

Had a great hunt on the squirrel opener last Saturday. Got to the hunting area by 8:40am and limited out by 10:00am. Used an unmodified (except for the hair curler/felt baffle and CARM magazines) P15 in .22cal shooting 15.89 JSB Hades @ 880fps. Recovered two Hades pellets upon cleaning. These were the longer shots 47yds and 55yds.

LCS SK19 now a steady Eddie on the bench!! Shout out to ORION!

Decided to show some love to the LCS, and put away the impacts for a bit. One of the things I knew I’d miss while shooting on the bench is one of my favorite additions, the saber tactical rear monopod. Donny sells spare adapters meant to Mount onto other guns with the ST adjustable butt stock.

But what if I wanted it on my LCS? I ordered a spare adapter from ST, and went to work with a set of calipers and a sketch pad, then sent the design to Orion Erlis out in Florida.
The LCS rubber butt pad leaves one wanting something better. It’s as if the manufacturer spent all their energies on designing the function of this incredible gun, but ran out of steam when it came to the butt pad design. I still wanted the comfort of the rubber against my shoulder, so a middle extension insert was required, to be able to solidly mount the ST adapter on.

That dude whipped that thing out like no big deal, and it came out exactly like I sketched it. All I provided were raw dimensions. Erlis had to come up with the angles and radius points.
In fact, it came out appearance wise better than I envisioned.
It came in today. Check it out-

So here are pics next on the type of details Orion pays attention to-

And now here is the LCS, all set up exactly how my impacts are set up on the bench. I can now look thru the scope, and wether I go full auto or semi, the view thru the scope is now so super steady and the rear is 100% solidly supported.

Erlis- thank you! You just turned this LCS into an even better platform! Well done!!

Tuning  son of a gun this thing actually works..

Recently acquired a new to me Empire XS in .22 It was LOUD, fixed that with a modded Fat Boy. Shot exceptionally well but shot count in my opinion was down. I started backing off the hammer spring tensioner. Things got better when I was 3/4 of a turn from falling out. Pellet velocity didn't start to slow down until the last turn on the screw. Inletted the stock behind the spring adjuster so I could put the stock back on. So far so good. Respectable shot count, good pellet velocity. But now I hear something I never heard before. Not in any air gun I own or have ever owned. Dreaded hammer bounce, and bad. A very distinct brrraaaapppp sound.
Here's my fix for that, 24.5 gram hammer ( stock hammer was 69g )and SSG/HDD. Result so far is a big freaking shot count (on going so no numbers yet) and around 800 fps with 14.5s.
Also a big thank you to Vetmx (Frank) for sending me that spring, but I've not used it yet.
