WANT TO PURCHASE A HAND GUN PCP

I've owned several pcp pistols but not really satisfied with their performance but that was 4 or 5 years ago.

Without searching indefinitely can someone please tell me what is a good pcp pistol that's at least .30 cal but preferably .45 cal pcp pistol?

I have wildlife predator problems occasionally that it'd be quicker, maybe, to use a handgun with a laser or light rather than a rifle.

Don't necessarily need a semi-auto but for sure not interested in a single shot. Racoons are mean and tough.

Tks in advance.

Joe

Taipan  My first Taipan Purchase

Been away from the airgun scene for awhile and just got back into it again, so many rifles to choose from these days, had a lot of air rifles over the years, owned pretty much all of the top tier brands but I always got rid of them for some reason or another and seemed to only keep the bullet proof, easy to work on, practical and functioning air rifles like my Ataman's and Jsar raptors which I still have.. my atamans are still holding air and functioning after 3yrs of shooting and wear and tear, never replaced an o-ring yet except for the fill probes. After searching for the last week and getting overwhelmed with all the new stuff out these days I decided to go with a Taipan Veteran 2 from Talon Tunes, I have never owned one before and always wanted one but never purchased one over the years, had a friend on here swear by them and really never heard anything negative about them. can't wait to get it and try it out, hopefully its a slug shooter too

Accuracy and Convenience Without The Bench

Background: This past year I renewed my interest in PCP air rifles and set forth to improve my accuracy. Years ago, I used a bench that I constructed which, along with the rest, was both challenging and cumbersome to move in the hallway space designated for the hobby.

With a background in photography, I not surprisingly, decided to try it with a tripod. Owning numerous tripods and heads, I began to experiment. However it didn’t work out so well initially. Starting with a variety of ball heads, I experienced problems with balance, steadiness, drift and the ability to move from target to target in a convenient manner. After considerable experimentation, it soon became apparent that I needed rear stability, and that a single tripod even with an extension arm was not going to suffice.

I proceeded to purchase a Saber Tactical Pro Universal Bench Monopod ST0069 and with a 3/8 16 tapped hole in the center, I mounted it to sturdy tripod. While this was major step forward, I wasn’t satisfied with the way the stock rested on the Saber Tactical rest. Back to the drawing board, I proceeded to purchase a Saber Tactical Pro Roller ST0086, took it apart, discarded the roller part, and constructed a clamp and mount from readily-available parts that could be adjusted and tightened to hold a stock.

While this was an obvious improvement, the front tripod head issues persisted.

My next step was to try a fluid head — the type used for videography. That actually worked rather well as the pan and tilt was smooth and I could easily move from target to target using the X and Y axis controls on the rear rest alone.

Then another challenge surfaced – leveling the system. While that issue was partially solved using a leveling device inserted between the front tripod and the head, it was still somewhat cumbersome as both tripods had to be leveled and aligned.

After considerable experimentation, I finally discovered the perfect head. It is the Leophoto Pro G4 Four Way Geared Head. The pan and tilt is smooth and one additional feature stood out to make a huge difference – a lateral leveling axis precisely adjusted with a simple knob.

Just when I thought I had it solved, another problem reared its ugly head. As I adjusted the X and Y axis on the rear rest, the vertical and horizontal angles of the stock remained clamped in with increasing tension placed on the rifle, binding it in certain positions. The final solution was a simple one — an inexpensive ball head mounted on a readily-available L bracket.

So how does it function?

In order for this to work, I’ve attached Arca plates to each rifle I own — an FX Panthera, Daystate Alpha Wolf and the Skout Evo.

The rifle is first attached to the front rest (Leophoto) via an Arca plate. The Leophoto’s pan and tilt levers are released with free motion in those planes. The only axis that remains controlled by a knob is the level axis, which additionally serves to enable precisely level scope mounting rather quickly as the angle can be easily and finely tuned.

After mounting the rifle to the Leophoto Arca clamp and quickly leveling the rest, I then proceed to adjust the distance to the second tripod in order to position the rear Arca plate which is then quickly and easily attached to the free-moving ball head Arca clamp mounted on the Saber Tactical rear rest.

The bottom line is simple — this system is light-weight, readily transportable, height adjustable, remarkably stable, and set up is fast and easy. Hole into hole accuracy is facilitated by simply adjusting the Saber Tactical rear X and Y axis upon which sits a free-moving ball head that automatically adjusts and aligns to the front rest and never binds as the stock of the rifle floats on the ball head.

Please note: I typically shoot paper targets indoors at distances of 10-25 yards, and this set up remarkably improves my precision and overall enjoyment . This unique combination of readily-available parts simply works well in a variety of settings.

I hope the documentation of this journey and the attached photos help anyone facing the same challenges. Please note I have no financial interest or relationship with any of the companies mentioned.

rusty screws replacement?

Hello all.
I'm sure a few have gone through this after their guns sitting in a case closet or storage.
a couple of my guns the Allen heads are starting to rust not bad as i removed before cleaned oiled with balistol and re installed.
here it comes again. humidity during the spring and summer
so my thought is maybe buy some 304 or 316L marine grade heat treated stainless replacement button heads etc.

I'm also a firm believer in using nikel never seize with any stainless-steel fasteners.
anyone swap there hardware out for stainless? have any issues?
i know some stainless and aluminum don't get along that's why i decided on marine grade like 304 316 heat treated.
im open for suggestions thanks

N/A  New cabinet

My last two purchases put me over the brink, a new cabinet was needed that at least was child proof. After looking at all the less expensive gun cabinets, I decided I could get more storage space for less money by modifying a cheap storage cabinet from Amazon. The cabinet I bought was the Yizosh brand for $140 with free shipping. I was pleasantly surprised. It arrived securely packaged with no damage, and assembly only took about an hour. My additions consisted of a rest for the barrels, and an insert for the bottom for storage of extra pellets plus a pocket for a sheet of 2" urethane foam to rest the guns on. The extra height versus a typical gun cabinet left plenty of room to get even my longest guns in and out. All in all a good solution I think.

Huben  Huben K1 - Highly Under Rated Gun?

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to post up about what I feel is probably one of the Best Overall guns on the market.

Yes, it gets some love but IMO not enough.

With the seemingly "hot" craze of the small, mini carbine, or so-called short guns I would throw this in the mix and never look back.. some might say it's pricey but from what I have seen by the time you get through "trying" to make a cheap gun into a 1/2 decent mini you are a$$ deep before you know it ....

Before I get too deep, I want to give a little context, I currently own 13 PCP guns, down from 25 at the peak of my insanity...
I have, or have had the usual suspects in the high-end varieties as well as a couple of lower end guns so I think I have a fairly good insight..

Ok on to the subject at hand, The K1 pretty much checks every box if you really look at it. and has the bonus of the semi auto function.

1) Extremely well built, You Very rarely see many issues with them, hell the only thing I have ever had to do to mine was replace the tiny oring behind the gauge
2) Very accurate with both pellets and slugs
3) Power, good lord you can get a .22 shooting ludicrous numbers with just a quick turn of a dial
4) Overall Length - 32"... enough said
5) Outstanding Trigger - mine is 1.6 lbs average
6) Quiet- No need for a moderator
7) Great Shot count
8) Very Comfortable to Shoulder, I am a big dude, 6.3' and 260 with huge, machinist hands, my wife is smallish 5.6' at 125, the gun works very well for both of us
9) Great Customer Support and parts, if you ever would need any, from a US Dealer (kelly@Krazcool)

Those are just the "key" points.
Mine is a 2022 version and I have 1000's of rounds through it. I have NEVER had a shot cycle malfunction,.
The gun is always ready to just "grab and Go" and do what it is supposed to do.

If you are thinking about buying one do yourself a favor and do it, you will Not be sorry

Karma  My First Semi-Automatic Airgun Hunting Adventure with the Karma SLS

Check out the full review here: https://donnyfl.com/blogs/news/my-first-semi-automatic-airgun-hunting-adventure-with-the-karma-sls

KARMA_SLS_022_1280x copy.png

Back in December, I joined the DonnyFL and Saber Tactical crew in Florida for a hunting trip. My sidekick for the adventure was PJ Clarke, a longtime friend and fellow airgunner. Together, we headed to Southern Florida to meet up with Travis Wilson of Trophy Trophies. Travis gave us a front-row seat to the region’s overwhelming iguana problem, and let me tell you—it was an eye-opener. The trip turned out to be the perfect opportunity to see the Karma SLS in action.

The Karma SLS: Standard vs. Compact

The Karma SLS series is designed to deliver fast, reliable, and high-performance semi-auto shooting, making it a go-to for airgunners. Whether you prefer the full-size Karma SLS Standard or the more portable Karma SLS Compact, both models share some standout features that make them versatile tools for hunting and fast trigger pulling alike.

Key Features of the Karma SLS Standard and Compact:

  • Semi-Automatic Operation: Both models offer rapid semi-auto functionality, allowing you to fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. This makes them perfect for situations that require quick follow-up shots, such as pest control and small-game hunting.
  • High-Quality Barrel: These airguns come with precision-crafted barrels, ensuring tight groupings and reliable accuracy at various distances.
  • Adjustable Power Settings: The Karma SLS series allows you to tune the power output to suit your specific needs, whether you’re targeting pests at close range or engaging in precision shooting at longer distances.
  • Compact and Portable Design: The Karma SLS Compact is perfect for tight spaces and quick maneuvers, while the Karma SLS Standard provides a more traditional profile with added air capacity for extended shooting sessions.
  • Magazine Capacity: Both versions boast generous magazine sizes, reducing the need for constant reloading during your hunt or shooting session.
  • Ergonomics: Designed with comfort in mind, both models feature lightweight, durable builds with grips and stocks that feel natural in hand.
Whether you’re hunting in an urban environment or out in the field, the Karma SLS series offers versatility and performance that can keep up with the demands of the hunt. The Compact version shines for mobility, while the Standard version provides the firepower and air efficiency for extended sessions. This was my first hunt with a semi-auto airgun and had a blast.

N/A  Help me decide my next PCP

I am relative new to air game, after trying a Hatsan Blitz it felt too long and heavy to handle for my build and now I am searching for a more compact alternative.
The requirements are: Compact build + Semi-auto support + .22 caliber preferably or above + preferably under 1500$
First choices were AEA SF Compact and the newer Karma SLS Compact both share the same core as I can tell, and after some searching in the forums AEA SF Compact has reliability issues reported by multiple users like the need to often replace poppets.
So right now I am looking for some other solid and reliable compact semi-auto recommendations. Any help is most welcome

Back when we had cool/dangerous toys

Was downstairs tonight looking for a lost box of aluminum and brass rods. Saw a box that made me curious. It had all my yearbooks in it and a gem from my early teens. It’s been probably 44 years since my dad signed the little order form I snipped from some magazine and my mom taking me to the bank for a money order. If you’re old enough, you all remember the 4-6 week wait after you mailed your envelope. Anyway, the thing was broke. Something motivated me to fix it. Then my girlfriend chirping about a plane crash and wanting me in the living room really motivated me. I told her, just wait. She caught the first rubber pellet. Well the blanket she was under on the couch actually did. We laughed about how wicked some of our toys were as kids. This gun caused some anger when I was a kid. Now it would probably cause a lawsuit. Figured I would post this because it is an airgun and maybe some post 50 guys like myself might like to see something from the good old days. Yes, it’s .22 caliber and shoots what appears to be a rubber MRD.

Fill tank recommendations

Hi All,
I am new to this forum and new to airgunning. This is my first post, so please be gentle lol. I just purchased a new FX Panthera 700 with plans of using in 22 PRS and airgun competitions. I'm looking for recommendations of an external fill tank that I can fill and use in between stages. If possible I would like to stay under $400. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Erik

How do you challenge you?

What are some of the diy challenges that you've set up for yourself. The ones where almost everything needs to be perfect to make that difficult shot. One of mine is trying to put a 177 into the pierced opening of an empty 12g co2 cartridge at 50yds. I'm sure someone will read this and consider my challenge only suitable for the visually impaired. Well that may or may not be your opinion but it is a challenge for me.

So I would like to hear how you are challenging you.
