FX IMPACT COMPACT STATS & THOUGHTS

OK, on 6-30-2022 I bought an FX Impact Compact in .25. This has the 500 mm barrel. On 7-11-2022 I bought Element Optics Helix 6-24X50 SFP, APR-1C MRAD reticle. Just to be clear I am ecstatic with this gun. I also purchased a DonnyFL FATBOY moderator. In the past I have had a Cricket, Vulcan, FX Wildcat, Edgun Leshiy classic and until recently an Edgun Leshiy 2. Can’t say a lot bad about any of them but there was always something that bothered me and I kept searching. I did not want the FX Impact because it looked like a large monstrosity with way to much tuning. I admit my mistakes and this was one. The FX Impact Compact .25 is not overly large or heavy and when it arrived I was shocked at how small it was compared to my thoughts. So I started to do some reading and settings and adjustments and started with the 95% tune although I did change it a bit. Now for the obligatory stats. Settings are as follows

Front Valve is 4 ½ turns out (and that is the maximum mine will physically turn out)
1st Reg 150Bar which came from factory
2nd reg 100Bar ( I adjusted with ball end Allen key very easy
Macro set at 16
Micro set at 3
JSB Exact 25.39 Pellets
880 FPS for 43.7 Ft. Lbs

Changing just the Macro and Micro
My current settings for accuracy and sound
Are as follows.
1st reg 150 bar
2nd reg 100 bar
Front valve 4 ½ turns out
Macro @ 8
Micro @ 2.25
JSB Exact 25.39 Pellets
816 FPS for 37.5 Ft. Lbs.
At this setting I get 100+ shots
300 cc tank filled to 245 Bar and shot down to 115 Bar.

Now just some notes of issues I ran across.

My front valve adjusting knob has 4 lines and that’s it. I have read where adjustments have been made out to 6+ but that was confusing to me because a turn is not from one line to the next and so I would think the numbers should be 4 lines + X amount of turns. At any rate MY gun will physically screw out 4 lines and ½ turn before the knob is stopped by the back end of the shroud.

Now I read where the pellets like speeds closer to 900 FPS. I do a lot of backyards subdivision shooting and my settings are great for 25 to 35 yards. Can’t question the accuracy. Also just by changing Macro and Micro I am 880 fps and near 44 ft lbs. I think some of our sub 12 ft lbs friends would be happy at those settings.

Is there a quality semiauto pistol?

I have about a half dozen airguns. I enjoy both precision shooting and plinking cans while camping. One of my pistols is a decent quality CO2 and a break barrel pellet guns that are fairly accurate and fun to shoot. The blowback semi-autos I use for can plinking loose a little of their joy from the clunkiness. I recently bought two replicas one of the Beretta PX4 and the CZ 75 P-07, they are fun but clunky. The CZ locks back with last shot and the PX4 has a dual action trigger which is nice but the triggers are really awkward.

Does anyone make a semi-auto that would shoot accurately with a smooth trigger like a quality firearm?

Note to add, I would also consider a revolver style pistol if there is one with a smooth action.

there was some discussion the other day?

about gun they wish they would come back? i just wanted to show some of the young bucks what air guns used to look like ?and they were comon.Their is no plastic or press wood checking. This was hand cut.im just to old to rap my head abs and all the du das hanging off the barrel. This is one for a illustration .BSA Gold Star10 shot mag. This was a restricted model ,you took out the 3 or 4 plactic o rings and put a longer spring and it would push a 14.5 grain pellet at about 750 fps. and 30pd cocking force. i think the rifle is about 25 years old?

Should we call it hobbie or adictive compulsion?... Or Rabbit Hole?

Our own limitations to achieve the perfection using not perfect equipment and depending of wind, make us make continuos efforts (time and money) to try to reach that carrot that make the horse pulling the cart.

No matter how many PCP' rifles we buy, what kind of ammo we use, how expensive they are, what accesories you add, this hobbie is more difficult than golf because the wind factor is absolutely out of our control and it will take the pellet of a perfect executed shot by the best rifle in world to where ever it decides.

Our lack of concious make us pursue what is unreachable by nature. But indeed improve our skills.

Vulcan 3 500 .177 Cal arrived.

I already received the rifle.

Already adjusted the trigger.

Already mounted the neutralizer for the down sharp weaver rail.

The rifle arrived shooting the JSB 13.43 grain at 886 fps.

If the wind stops blowing, the rifle is EXTREMLY accurate at 100 yards.

The rifle shoulders really confortable, as the Uragan does.

I received the rifle in the morning and already shot about 300 pellets.

Rifle is silent, but not as much as the Daystate Renegade is. But is lighter than the Renegade and gives much more shots per fill with more power.

I have only taken one starling with it and the shock of the hit was visible.

.177 Cal is ideal for plinking. It is cheaper than other calibers. But the effect of the wind in where you hit is evident.

AfterMarket kits for my gun at least, a TX20

Sorry but need to say this:

Its is always amazing to me how some feel the need to immediately buy some tune kit out of the the box, and well before 500-1000 pellets. . Honestly, its been a while with me and shooting, Out of the box, my TX200 was grouping at 3 inches at 50 yards, I need to relearn my shooting skills for sure I haven't shot any rifle for 30 yeas and was quite happy w that group off hand for the time being. I think the TX200 I just purchased has great potential out of the box. I would certainly expect an $ 800 gun would not need an imeadiae Tune Kit and I certainly plan to shoot this gun a lot more before I start to think about after market spring/ guide kits, Just my opinion and no intention to offend anyone.

My point is, should you buy a quality air gun, wait and practice before investing in an upgrade kit, just my opinion.

A fun twofer during lunch break ;)

I have a couple of local farms that I'm able to shoot at near where I work. I will often pop by one or two of them on lunch break and see if I can knock a few out - which is what I did earlier today. Fun story - see the silo off to the right? That's 55 yds. There is another one to the left of the barn that is out of frame - 60 yds to the top of that one - but the story is @the right one. Mr Male pigeon was chasing Miss Female pigeon and the two of them landed up there. I had her dead to rights - cross hairs locked right on to her solid, steady - she was on her way to pigeon heaven. The scope only being zoomed in to ... I don't know - 12, 14x 'ish . . . I could see a fair amount of real estate easy all around her. I could see "him" praddling about - strutting his stuff trying to be "all that" to impress her. ( "Hey baby -- lets make some baby pigeons . . . . " lol ) I'm watching this and start mumbling to myself . . . ".... he's gonna walk / strut his big dumb self right across my cross hairs . . . . " and sure enough - right on queue - he did. BAM!!

Got 'em both. Like the guy on "The A-Team" used to say - "I love it when a plan comes together".
