It has been a few years since exercising the big bore members of the "team". The dive shop that is local, does not want to fill my tank past 3800 as they have had in the past. I have been told that there are more compressor choices than there was 7-8 years ago.
Are there a couple of models that are leading the pack for the big bore/ large volume crowd? Thank you all in advance for the reply.

For trade: Fx maverick sniper 25 with almost every extra part made.

My .25 Maverick Sniper had been shooting fine, but the other day the FPS was all over the place (like +/- 75 fps) and I'm pretty sure I no longer heard the plenum fill up between shots. I had never touched the regulator pressures since I've owned the gun, just swapping in the heavy slug liner and the 'Slug Power Kit'. Rear reg was set at like 110 bar from Utah Airguns, front reg shows like 135 bar right now. The bottle is at 200 bar. I was going to increase the front reg pressure, but in every video about Maverick tuning, there is an audible hiss after just like a quarter turn CCW of the front reg screw; I was up to at least 4 turns CCW without a single sound, and the reg gauge never budged from 135 bar (yes, the brass set screw that bypasses the rear reg is open/flush with housing for this step).

Is the reg pressure not changing in response to turning the front reg screw CCW an indication of a failed front regulator? Or something else? Should I keep turning the front reg screw CCW until something happens? It's not obvious how deep the front reg set screw is in its housing; it's buried down there.

Since getting pummeled currently with bidenomics. Decisions become more difficult with resale being more challenging, but that's another issue. I personally desire another gun or two, who doesn't? I know. but also desire another great white tank and an Alkin compressor. Question is, which is next? I could get an Alkin from pyramid on affirm for a year. same for the guns, the great white doesn't have that option. I can only do 1 of these this year obviously, what would be your choice? Got bored and decided to run a quick test to see the effects of damaged skirts on accuracy. I was honestly a little surprised with the results.

Undamaged Pellets Groups:



The picture above shows two seperate 10x shot groups taken at 30m. The group on the left is just 10 pellets pulled at random from the tin and sent down range. The group measured 0.395" CTC.

The group on the right is with 10 pellets pulled from the tin but each skirt was examined for any defects. If none were found, they were sent towards the target. That group measured 0.318". Pretty solid improvement if you ask me.

Here is where it gets interesting for me though. Picture #3 was 10 shots with more than just a little skirt damage. You can get a rough idea of what these pellets looked like from the first picture. One of these pellets had both sides of the skirt literally touching in the center. I was expecting an 1.5"+ from this group. What I got was 0.621".... I can live with that any day of the week.

I guess what I learned is that I shouldn't waste "bad" pellets. I wouldn't use them for hunting or in a match but for plinking? All day.
