Benjamin  Silly newb question

hi folks,

I hope you all are doing well. Just ordered my first ever air gun. Excited to say the least! I grabbed the regulated version of the Benjamin Marauder.

Now I am shopping around for ammo.

A tin of slugs sounds like something fun I'd like to mess around with. On PyramidAir website, when I filter to .22 cal slugs, it shows me options like .218.

I know this is a dumb question probably, but can I use .218 slugs in a .22 rifle? it's such a negligible difference that I'd like to think it doesn't matter, but another part of my brain is scratching saying I should ask the pros first to make sure.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

EDIT:

Thank you all for your replies! I'm glad I came here to ask. I'll take your collective advice and avoid slogs for the foreseeable future, at least until I feel like gun is basically an extension of myself, and I feel like I can experiment with other playful ideas like slugs without messing up any first impressions.

I may post back here on this forum maybe later today or tomorrow, with a potential first "cart" of pellets from Pyramid, and see what you guys think.

Thanks again!

manual pumping pain group

raise your hand if you’ve felt the pain of manually pumping a gun with a tank or tube that’s +200cc from zero to 35k psi.. share what gun, up to what psi, and reason why.

i’ll go first, huben k1 up to 30bar. had to do it multiple times troubleshooting and fixing a leaking fill port and then while troubleshooting a broken sear arm. 🥹 i didn’t have a compressor then because i never needed one for my notos.. enter huben k1 🥲😅
tell me i’m not alone. please haha

Taipan  Pellets for Taipan Vet 2 700mm

Hi everyone I just ordered a Taipan Vet 2 700mm .22 from Talon tunes and should be getting it this thursday. I’m very Very exited. There is one thing though. I am new to PCP rifles AND have only had gamo .177 rifles and mostly shot walmart crossman premieres which they shot really good IMO. i don’t know much about ballistics or anything like that(also have never used slugs). What do you guys recommend me getting? Ive read that JSB redesigned work fairly well but theres 3 options. Shallow regular and deep skirt. I will shoot the pellets anywhere from 30yds-150 and will be mainly dove hunting.. What do you guys recommend getting to test out? It would be even better if somebody with a Taipan vet 2 with same barrel length chimed in. Thanks in advance.

FX  Impact POI help!

Hi all..fairly new to the FX PCP game (had a Maurader for 20 years before I realized this world of amazing PCP's existed. I picked up a lightly used.25 maverick and .357 Impact M3 a few weeks ago. Provenance on the Maverick is perfect. super tuned to shoot JSB's thru one hole, every single shot. It's perfection.

The m3 I'm struggling with a bit. specs. 800mm barrel, supertwist barrel. Donny Emperor. Running 175/140 reg. 4.5 lines on the bottle valve. 14 macro, 4.2 micro. FX Hybrids. Element Helix 4-16-44

Gun always takes a shot or two to settle once I fill it (240/45 bottle reg) but after a couple adjustments, it shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards. totally acceptable. Chrono 940-950. Once im zero'd I usually go for a walk around our barn property and pop a few ground squirrels...I know, the 357 is overkill, but damn does it hit hard. 120-140 yards with a 8-12 MOA holdover no problem.

The issue happens when I come back to the bench and put a few last shots on paper. maybe the bottle pressure is down into 200 or so (after 10-12 shots) but never close to reg 1. (175). I'll start shooting at paper and my POI will have shifted wildly up to 2-2.5" to the left or right. never consistent one way or the other, but the last three outings it happened every time. I'm not jostling the gun hard on walks, setting it down soft so I don't think its a physical handling thing.

Looking to eliminate variables that might be the culprit. My first to thoughts are the scope and maybe the enormous Donny emperor. I have an old vortex I can run on the Impact and see if its a scope issue, and I can shoot the rilfe sans moderator to see if its a clipping issue (although I dont see why I would shoot tight groups, and then the groups would move left or right but remain tight if clipping was the issue). Regardless, I did just order a new moderator from donny (Ronin becuase they reccomended it for that gun AND its half the length).

Does anyone have any other thoughts to what might be happening here? I dont think its reg pressures, hammer, etc. That long ass barrel seems to flex pretty hard during shots with the heavy moderator on it and its not an upgraded barrel either. would getting a stiffer barrel help the cause? I just cant understand why I would be shooting tight groups and the POI would move suddenly but groups remain tight.

Help! Thanks in advance

Moisture in tanks

I am new to all this, I keep seeing stuff about moisture getting into scuba tanks and gun tanks. im not worried about moisture yet, I’ve filled the gun twice. I got the cheap filter comes with shoe box compressor. I fill or run compressor in driest air I can find. There is a simple way to remove moisture from high pressure tanks and systems. Pull a vacuum on the tanks and hold it for a short amount of time. So I must be missing something, something about being able to pull a vacuum on these specific type of tanks must be difficult? Maybe something with the valves? Does anybody know? A vacuum pump capable of pulling and maintaining a vacuum are pretty cheap. Easy to get. So I got to be missing something . Edit; maybe I should mention , this happens anytime you get your cars AC system serviced. Refrigerant is dumped and a vacuum is pulled and held around 30 or 40 minutes. All moisture quickly evaporates under vacuum and vac pump pumps it out. I have done this process many times and I could probably adapt the equipment I would use to do it and make it pull a vacuum on anything with threaded fittings.

i got him this time at 80yrds !!

ok, rewind back a few days ago when the thread was created about "who shot there .177 today",
from the pcp airgun section.....
well, i posted i missed with my HW100 @80 yrds....but i didnt mention i hit the pine comb he was eating and knocked it out of his hands & mouth!! and he high tailed it !!
about 30min ago, i was in the barn servicing the tractor and heard the cardinals screaming.....so i grabbed my barn gun.
the ataman .22 topped with 14.3 cpd's.....its all over now :sneaky:

Those are the choices and, I like all three. However, I have a leaning towards one, but want to see how the community aligns or not with my choice. Airgun company Shipping Department disappointment

I’m not sure where I should post this, so move it if it needs to be moved.

So, before I rip the company, I ordered a Huma regulator for the RTI from a well established airgun company. What I got was a bunch of parts individually packaged in small bags. One gauge was missing and two parts weren’t even the right ones. Pictured below are the parts as I received them and a picture of the regulator that I should have received.

Daystate  Do It All Rifle

I’m going to buy my first PCP rifle and want to make sure that I’ve done my due diligence. I will be using the rifle to begin shooting HFT, informal benchrest, and rifle silhouette practice. So purely a target gun. I currently shoot an FWB 300 for informal 10 meter and 25 yard target practice and HW30 at 20 and 30 yard silhouettes. I talked to Darren at AOA and he suggested the Daystate Revere plinker package. He said that despite the fact that I have a scope suitable for HFT, the moderator and additional accessories made by package the best deal. Since I live in Phoenix, buying from AOA seems to be a no brainer.
So my question, “Is the Revere the best choice or are there other rifles I should consider?” Thanks, Tom

Air Tanks  SOLD 60 SCBA Tank with New Fill Station

For sale is this 60 minute MSA tank with a new 300 din valve , upgraded gauge and 20" fill hose protected with strain relief the whole length. Please note ; this tank is 21 years old . It sure doesn't show it's age as I've seen 2 to 3 year old tanks that look much worse. Obviously this was a back up unit with little service time. I purchased the tank , cleaned the exterior , removed the valve , inspected the interior .........which looks brand new...installed a new valve / fill assembly using a 90 Buna o-ring and upgraded the gauge to a larger , easier to read unit. Then a slow fill to 4500 psi and let the tank sit for several days. It still is at 4500 . At it's age NO COMMERCIAL BUSINESS WILL FILL IT. You must have your own source for high pressure air , either your own compressor or a real good buddy with one. I personally use these tanks with my cascade fill set up. They look almost new and function perfectly. Because this tank is past it's "15 year service life" , you must use at your own risk and weigh the risks for yourself. Selling for $235 plus shipping and insurance . I use Pirate Ship and do not pad shipping costs. FYI the box will be 26 x 8 x 8 ~ 15 lbs +/-. This tank will be shipped empty to comply with DOT regulations..................unless you wish to drive to Hickory ,NC ...........then you'll get it full! Not interested in trades or offers at this time. Please deal by pm. Thanks for looking.........................Herb

Mr Hollow point

I just wanted to take a second to give credit where credit is due. I have shot all kind of slugs through my Texan 457 long barrel. The Mr Hollow Point cast slugs are hands down the most accurate slugs I have put through my Texan 457, and Dragonclaw! I don't know how he does it but the consistency in his ammo is crazy!! If y'all.are looking for quality, accurate slugs, you can't go wrong with his!!

FX  Dream Tac Compact....Questions and Comments

First off I purchased a Dream Tac Compact from Scott.t on here and I can't thank him enough, great guy and great deal.
Here are a few of the observations I have since putting a several hundred rounds through this rifle.
First, the mechanical.. I like the idea of total adjustability, but I have to admit, I'm the type of shooter that tunes a gun for a purpose and generally leaves it alone. For me, the Royale is the best FX rifle made, hammer, reg and xfer port are all adjustable. But, this DT is fun in it's way.
Second, the trigger, with so much technology going into FX rifles, it escapes me that they don't redesign the trigger. It's not bad per se, it's just not up to the guns. Every FX has basically the same trigger with the exception of the Boss, and that trigger is a monstrosity to install and tune, but it's a step in the right direction. I suppose this is nit picking because the trigger is quite useable, and can be tuned some, so it's not a big gripe.
The action is outstanding, as all FX rifles are, smooth and functions perfectly, this is where FX shines. They did come up with a much, MUCH improved magazine, which is perfection personified! This little dandy is just the right weight, not too light, and certainly not too heavy, with a scope of the compact 3-12X persuasion, it is wonderful. One thing FX got really right, was the comb to pic rail height. If you've shot a Notos, you have experienced the other end of the spectrum. With the Notos I need super high rings, and it is just kind of strange, but the DT has a raised pic rail and a lowered comb and it is perfect.

Enough comments, I have questions.
Let me preface this with I totally understand the problem with such a short barrel and a cf 300cc bottle. You're simply not going to get a hundred shots in the 900 fps range, it ain't happening. By the way, my original post on this subject was when my chrony crapped and I got some amazing results for this rifle, but my new ProChrony proves a much lower fps. But still, I keep thinking that mid 800 fps with 18gr pellets, and somthing on the order of 40-50 shots is not out of range.
1) There's not a lot online that I could find about tunes. I started with 18.1gr FX pellets, and accuracy was fantastic, top notch, but velocity was low from what I could find online. I'm having trouble getting even 750 fps. It is low 700s.
I moved to any other 16gr pellets and the speed is up of course, but accuracy is meehh, 2-3 moa, or worse. It turns out the turbulence from the short barrel at max output is too much for light pellets. I tune it down a bit, get 750fps , with just over 100 bar reg, and 4 hammer, and accuracy with lighter pellets is equal to 18 gr pellets, fantastic. BUT, online I did find two tunes, that got well over 800 fps with 16gr???
If I move the reg to lets say 140 bar, then air useage goes well off the charts, and I don't get the velocity gain you would expect. So it seems here I'm running out of barrel?
I have my reg at just over 100 bar now, and am getting the 16gr 750fps and good shot count.
My thought is to increase the reg, cut back the hammer and start increasing the hammer til it doesn't show much increase and see where I go velocity and accuracy wise. This is the only real tune I could find online and it gave 840-860fps.

One more note, I can't feel much resistance when chambering a pellet, so I'm going to try and see if maybe the breech seal needs replaced, but I'm doubting it, because, my 750fps tune with 16gr pellets, produced a 28 shot string, with 9fps ES, so looks good there, but it is possible, it leaks aboud the seal, consistently, I've seen it happen, and a short barrel lessens the effect somewhat.

Any thoughts from the FX gurus?

Seneca/Sam Yang  Desperate need of an effective arrow target that my .45 909 won't blow through

I'm trying so hard to dial in my Sam Yang 909 with arrows, but I cannot keep the arrows from being destroyed or lost. I have the best Yellow Jacket compound/crossbow target that I can buy and the bolts still either blow all of the way through or go so deep that the only thing stopping them is the fletching on the exit side. This afternoon I made three shots on target; one went through to the fletching on the opposite side (all fletching tore off when extracted), one went all of the way through and was recovered, albeit damaged (bent tip...replaceable), and the third blew through and was lost. $40.00 in arrows and a bent tip for three shots. Brutal.

I DID pull a chrony out today with the arrows, which was a first. I clocked shots two and three (@ 2600 and 2200 psi respectively) The first shot was at 407 fps and the second was at 424. All were shot on half power.

I can't keep doing this. Three years ago, I started down the arrow path and similarly lost bolts. I shelved it for a while but recently wanted to explore it again. I thought I had stepped up my game to prevent that, but apparently, I have a way to go to get better results. I can't afford to keep fumbling around and spending hundreds on arrows for a dozen shots. Any suggestions on how to stop the bolts while still maintaining arrow integrity?

Huben  All Things HUBEN GK1 (air pistol) - Master Thread

* I would like to ask that you not clog this master thread with discussion advertising 3D printed parts that you or a friend of yours may have designed. Please locate the appropriate thread and create a single post letting readers know what your design does & where to find it. *

The Huben GK1 has been a long time coming by bringing almost all of the benefits of its big brother (the K1 rifle platform) in pistol format. I believe this pistol is the brainchild of @Gregor (Keminsk) hence the “GK”. Should can find many of his Huben videos in YouTube - some will be included within this thread. I don’t want to over talk this platform since the linked threads can do it better justice than I. I think air pistolero Ron Robinson (@AirNGasman) said it best here in post #s 8, 12, & 16.

Since the release of this revolutionary air pistol in 2023, it is only natural to create a master thread. This thread is dedicated to the Huben GK1. Here you will find links to threads discussing: use, adjustment, optics mounting, ammo selection, custom parts, conversion (carbine, shorty, etc), problem diagnostics and solutions, and more concerning the Huben GK1 PCP air pistol. The point of this thread is to have a repository of information for all things concerning the GK1 so that members and visitors searching for answers can have a starting point for their queries. Think of this thread as an “X marks the spot” on the AGN treasure map concerning the GK1. Certain threads may be omitted because they did not generate effective responses furthering the knowledge base on this air pistol. The point here is to compile a useful framework on this particular pistol for all readers to use as a point of reference to better learn the GK1 or to help others.

is this plausible

i have a low profile mounted laser zeroed between 1st zero(pellet trajectory rise) and 2nd zero(pellet trajectory drop) as a reference to possibly correct my parallax..assuming it’s mounted and zeroed near perfectly with the y-axis of my bore, im imagining it as a zero that that stays consistent with bore alignment regardless of where i’m looking through the scope.
looks like this through my scope since the laser isn’t zeroed the same distance as my scope. farther down range the green laser will eventually intersect with the center of my reticle. the red would represent the laser at even farther range.
IMG_6739.png

i’ve been using it like this and my accuracy has been very consistent. am i just tricking myself? anyone else wanna try this out and give some input?

RAW Rapid  RAW reseal/dissemble videos for TM, and HM models?

Is there any videos of RAWs being dissembled like the FX master class and the BRK videos? I know it’s an easy gun to dissemble, but I just like something to follow when dissembling. I can’t even find a schematic on these guns.

Can someone make some videos? That would be awesome for the community of RAW owners.
