Good Parts Vendor

I needed an air cylinder valve for a daughter’s Walther LG400 10M rifle. I was told by a couple US dealers Walther won’t sell air cylinder parts due to liability. A new cylinder is $250+. I found this guy in the Czech Republic: http://josef1000.cz/ that has the valves for around $25 and the tools to remove the valve.

I ordered the part I needed plus some other parts I wanted on Tuesday evening. They were on my porch noon today, Friday. Everything looks great. He has a number of items for sale at good prices. When you order you just email him what you want and he will email you back with a picture of the items and a picture of an invoice. Then just PayPal him and you will quickly get the shipping/tracking info. He couldn’t have done a better job.

N/A  Xisico XSP 120D piston seal?

I'm looking for a new piston seal for my Xisico XPS 120D but don't know where to start. I ran it over the chrony yesterday along with my P17, both are .22 cal., but the P17 was a lot more powerful. The trigger in the 120D is as good as the one on my HW40 so I like to shoot that one more. It is very easy to pump so I feel like a new piston seal would bring it up to the level of the P17. Anyone know where to get one? Or is this all I'm going to be able to get out of it. Here are the chrony numbers.

Repairing chip, dings, and scratches on airgun finish.

Folks, how do you approach fixing small chips, dings, and scratches on your airgun finish without repainting it? Like the ones I've posted below. It looks like enamel was chipped off. I know you can simply use Birchwood Casey touch-up pen, but it would not fill gaps and in general I did not have good experience Birchwood touch-up pens before except if it was used on anodized finish. I was thinking of trying to use something like Testors semi-gloss enamel paint. Fill the gap, let it dry, polish excess paint off with fine grit sandpaper, and repeat until I level up the chip edges and make it disappear. Or maybe some other type of touch-up paint would work better. Or maybe it's a bad idea altogether :). Before I try anything, I wanted to ask for the wisdom of the community here and see if anyone has a better idea or experience with repairing such small imperfections on a gun finish. Hope to hear from experts soon. Thank you guys!!!

Diana  HFT Diana 48

I found an RWS Diana 48 in the box for a good deal.
I have a TX200 for WFTF class and don’t want use it for hunter because the scope is 40x magnification. And I want a more powerful gun for HFT.
American HFT sitting on a bucket with a set of sticks.
This particular rifle is like brand new and came with a tin of pellets and one missing.
First owner shot it once . Second owner never shot it.
So it’s like brand new.
I mounted a nice scope and did some shooting and it is definitely a cannon. The trigger is really nice. The rifle is a 2014 with a T-06 trigger.

First thing is to remove the front sight and add a muzzle brake. I got one from Air Venture. I had to cut the sleeve around the barrel but it fits great.

Next I’m going to get a spring kit to slow it down and smooth it out.

Tomorrow I am going to get to shoot it for real. Going to a new shooting location and chronograph it and set up FT line with target
Stand and bench prove the scope and shoot the gun like it is. Just to brake it in and practice. I’ll do it all over again after I get the spring.

Today I got a level in the mail.

PCP Rifle  SOLD WTS .30 Cricket Tactical

Hey All,

Bought this on a whim awhile back and has been sitting since then so decided to move it along to someone who can put it to use.

This is a .30 Cricket Tactical that was tuned by Derrick Wall. Shot it today and found the best accuracy with the 50.15 JSB right around 880 but also shoots the 44.75 amazingly well at a hair over 900. Turn the hammer spring adjuster in and easily shoots the Zan 56 grain at 870 so plenty of power on tap for any pellet or slug you can toss at her.

Has a 700cc bottle and comes with 3 mags that Derrick cleaned up to make cycle better as well as the Steve C. bench rest stock.

Note- Scope, bipod, moderator not included. Some scratching on power adjuster knob.

975 shipped.

Fox Air Power - need some help getting in touch

I posted this in the wrong forum, which didn't allow replies... so it was suggested I re-post it here.

Hello my AGN brothers and sisters!

More than four weeks ago, after receiving an email announcing Fox being certified to work on Western Airguns equipment, I sent off a Sidewinder for a full going over. The Sidewinder has been in their hands for more than three weeks.

The ensuing time has been spent sending email after email asking for updates. Thus far, I have no details of any findings. I'm told parts have been ordered (which Fox didn't have and needed to be ordered) I've asked for details, I've received none. I asked for an eyeballing of the costs involved with the parts and labor. I have no quote, only a message in a long email thread that they have a new supplier for parts, and they don't know what the cost is. I'm flummoxed - I've run MANY businesses and I've never ordered anything from any supplier without knowing what they cost, without having gotten approval from the customer approving the costs.

If all of this sounds weird, I'm with you and I'm befuddled because going on reputation I've read about here, Fox is top notch. My experience thus far has been less-so. Every interaction with them via email is friendly - but lacking any critical detail that makes me feel like I know what's going on.

I'm not here to sling slugs, but what I am asking for, is any name of a person any of you have dealt with there, and a phone number I can call to speak to a person about this. I've had no luck with either so far, myself.

Again, at this point, I'm not mudslinging nor am I asking any of you to do so either. This is a factual accounting of my experience so far. My goal is only to get my Sidewinder back, in nominal working conduction.

If you'd prefer to help anonymously, please DM me here with any info you can offer to help my Sidewinder find its way home soon.

Thanks, friends!

Mark

Hill HC 3000 50 hour repair kit scam .

Hey guys....If you are anything like me you hate being ripped off . I had a problem with my HC 3000 blowing fuses when It cut back on from cool down so I called Hill's In the UK for advice they were really helpful but said It could be a number of things and to buy a 50 hour repair kit , so I went a head and bought the repair kit bearing In mind my HC 3000 only had 20 hours on It . anyway the kit turned up a few days later , I opened the box and couldn't believe I paid almost $94 for this feeble looking repair kit If this cost $10 to put together Id be surprised , plus the small disc you see In the picture was missing , no Instructions but there Is a video on you tube On how to use the repair kit but the parts In the video are different to the parts you get In the kit . what do you do you need the kit right . Iv only just used the compressor once since I Installed the kit It didnt reach cut off tempreture so I dont know If It cured the problem or not . I tell you guys this kit Is a scam . Rant over .

Happy shooting .

My house almost burnt down.

The neighbouring property had long dry gras that caught fire and jumped over to our property and started to burn our house. Luckily we were at home and could stop the fire before any serious damage was done. The neighbors were not so lucky and were not at home and it burnt down. The fire brigade was there with trucks and a Huey helicopter and stopped the fire but it was to late, they lost everything.

The meadow where my landlord's zebras is also burned, luckily the zebras did not get hurt. This is how the meadow and my shooting range looks now:

How much rubber mulch to stop pellets?

I've built at least 4 pellet traps of different designs. The first one basically copied the plastic Crosman trap my kids gave me. I used the metal back of that trap and put it in a wooden box. I sloped the back and filled it with mulch. It worked but I occasionally hit the 3/4 plywood sides of the trap and eventually it was pretty well ruined. Next I made one out of an old electrical box I found in my shed. It is made of heavy gauge metal, I estimate 16 gauge. The back bulged out some but it is still usable. But the back bulging told me it's less than 3 inch depth was insufficient for my guns. So I made one of 3/4 plywood that is 6.75 inches deep. I put a metal back inside the plywood one too. It is sufficient for even my 50 fpe 25 caliber. I never have heard pellets hitting the metal back.

But it is somewhat heavy so I made one that is only 5.25 inches deep of mulch. I shot it yesterday with my 25 caliber Avenger tuned to shoot FX 25.4s a little under 900 fps. About 43 fpe. I'll include a picture of what happened. I heard the pellets hitting the metal back which is inside the trap protecting the plywood back. This trap is made of 1/2 inch plywood (mainly). I pushed some glue into the crack and clamped it up, it is drying in my shop right now. So 5.25 inches of mulch is not enough for a low 40s fpe airgun. The only time I have hit the back before this was shortly after I made it when the mulch sagged down. I took the cardboard off and put in a bit more mulch and no longer hit the back with my low 30s fpe 22 caliber airguns.

So if you shoot airguns 30 fpe or below, about 5.25 inches of mulch is sufficient in your trap. If you shoot 50 fpe airguns or less, 6.75 inches will work. Possibly a little less.

Both my recently built traps have 1/8th inch thick steel clamping the cardboard and target in place and protecting the 3/4 softwood frame around the opening and the plywood sides. The 1/8th steel shrugs off impacts of even my 50 fpe 25 caliber. It's the only thing I had to buy for the traps but I think incorporating it was well worth it. I put softwood around the opening to hold the drywall screws holding the metal, cardboard, and target on (if I screw directly ito the plywood it splits).

Theoben  Just wanted to share my new toy

I've been wanting one of these for a couple of years now but unfortunately they've always been either more than I could afford or in too rough of condition. When a pretty one was brought to my attention buly a friend I just couldn't say no. It's a Beeman stamped .22 Theoben SLR 98 in near mint condition.

I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet but from the handful of shots that I was able to put through it, I'm in love. My first impressions were the gun is much lighter and smaller than I expected. I was expecting something similar to a 97K but it's actually shorter and a solid pound lighter. It shoulders fantastically. It's currently running 11.8ftlbs. Question to other SLR 98 owners. What pressures are you running to get closer to 17fpe?

1000001807.jpg

Edit: Pumped the ram up some. Now we're just a bit under 17fpe with a 14.66gr FTT. SNAPPY but still easy enough to cock.

1000002051.jpg

Edit (again): Finally got a break in the action to actually group the thing. Nothing amazing yet but honestly better than I expected from a mag fed gun. 2x groups, each a full 7 shot mag, at 34yds from a shaky at best wire table.

Coming back to Airguns after a couple years off.

I am trying to get back to Airguns. My passion is Field Target.
I used to have a large garage so I could shoot 35 yards year round indoors. And out to 100 yards if I open the door. And an outdoor field target lane marked out in my yard.
I went through 150-300 pellets a day and shot with the group once a month.
I went to the 2015 US nationals . Then I moved into a small house with one car garage in Iowa.
I tried to find other shooters and tried to keep up with it. But not shooting in my own yard put a damper on things.
I tried driving to the nearest FT club but that is three hours of driving .

I had to give up.

Now five years later I am trying to get back. I have met a couple people that might be interested in field target.

And I have secured a farm for practice. A friend said I can use it to practice. The farm has 300 acres of corn and a bunch of old out buildings. So Saturday I am packing my stuff and going out to test fire and crony my new Diana 48 and shoot some targets.
I’ll get some photos. The place is only ten minutes drive from home.
