I know the answer to the question "how tight should my jam nut be" is going to depend on liner length, caliber, fpe at the muzzle, whether the rifle is using o-rings as spacers between the liner and the barrel housing or a carbon fiber spacer instead. There are probably a lot of other things to take into consideration that I'm not even thinking of. And I know that a lot of the answers are going to be given in terms of how many turns after hand tight rather than torque specs -- either one is fine with me. I just need a sanity check.

I've got an fx maverick 30 cal sniper with a 1:18 twist liner and a carbon fiber spacer between the liner and the barrel housing. I'm shooting nsa 54.5 grain slugs at about 950 fps, but might go to 980 fps. Either way that's in the 109 fpe to 116 fpe range. The liner is trying to spin the slug to the right, but if the jam nut is too loose, then the liner will slip (spin) to the left. I want the jam nut to be tight enough to prevent the liner from slipping, but I don't want to bend my liner. I can't really tell if the liner is slipping or not and there doesn't seem to be any way to know for sure.

Currently I'm tightening my jam nut 1/16th of a turn after fully hand tightening, but I'm wondering if that's really enough -- is 1/8th of a turn OK without bending the liner?

The FX motto "not too tight -- not too loose" causes irreversible insanity.

I'm going through a learning curve on gardening this year. Glynnis and spent thousands on water troughs for planters, tons of different plants, 15 yards of bark, a crushed granite courtyard, you name it. But my pride and joy are the berries. Blackberry, two varieties of red raspberry, golden raspberry, boysenberry, and marionberry. I could give a fiddler's fart over a tomato, but berries? Me likey berries.

This year we just planted, so any fruit is just a bonus as berries generally take a couple of years. However, we have a smattering of red razzies and quite a few blacks. I built a Jerry-rigged hoop house to try to keep the birds out, but they find the smallest openings (doorway curtains) and destroy the fruit. This is a great learning year, as next year will have (hopefully) lots of fruit and I need to figure out how to keep the little bastards at bay.

This morning there were five in there at daybreak. I'd had it. Got the FX and went full Walter Sobchak from the Big Lebowski. "You see what happens when you %^& a stranger in the @$$? You see what happens?! Huh?!" The birds didn't think I was serious. After the second poof, the remaining birds suddenly became highly motivated to get out of the net dome. It wouldn't even be an exaggeration to say they appeared a bit desperate.

The only collateral damage is a couple of broken net strands surrounded by feathers. The birds are relentless and I'm learning how to play the game. You can tell I'm a sore loser. I'll do better next year with my net job.

While I was shopping to get more replacement oil for my Yong Heng compressor, I found a store called Compressed Air USA. They sell on Amazon or you can buy direct from their website. I bought the gun in non working condition, it leaked air through the airgun and wouldn't hold air. I since bought a new gage and seals and hold air fine, I shoot it every other day with no leaks. It likes to shoot the 25.39gr AEA pellets, 21.9gr AEA, 22gr Zan in .219 and the Huben Peanut Slugs 33.33gr. Only comes with 1 mag but the mag has no issues.

I mispoke, I haven't tried the zan .219 in this rifle, but it shoots the 22gr Varmint Knockers amazingly as well as a 25gr no name brand slug off ebay.

micro wheel is almost at 4.
raising the reg pressure does not make much difference.
It is not a sub 12 version As I’m located in Denmark.

Gun is excellent condition. Was resealed by FX USA about 1.5 years ago. Shoots excellent and no leaks. Think it shoots 25.39 870’s to 880’s. It has the jam nut from 910 airguns that screws in behind the hammer spring screw to secure it. I think I have 2 fill probes. I have a few magazines as well as the single shot tray pictured. Will know the exact number when I grab them. Have a hectic schedule so I can usually only ship first part of the week. Looking for 750 shipped in the con U.S. NOT LOOKING FOR TRADES

This has very likely been done before, Notos seems to be a quite popular beginner gun, but I figure I would put my little review on it.

So, first off let me state that this is my second PCP airgun, my first being an Aveng-X. That is to say I do not have much experience with them, but I do have plenty of experience with fire arms in general. With that out of the way, let's start.

Pros first off.
The gun is very light, way lighter then my Aveng-X and lighter then all of my rifles I own.
Very consistent FPS. Out of 15 shots I got a SD of 2 and an extreme spread of 6.
Very accurate (with the right weight pellet).
Collapsible stock.
Tank fills very quickly. I have a compressor and it takes less then a min to get it from off the reg to full. I'm sure it would be quite easy to hand pump as well.
Cocking lever. I really though I would hate this. First, it is on the wrong side. This turned out ok because the gun is so light. And second, it is flush with the gun. I though this would give me problems grabbing it. Not the case though. It pops out when you touch the detent between the gun and the lever, making it very easy to use it.
Great aftermarket support.
Quite cheap compared to other PCPs.

And now some cons.
The trigger is awful. Even after adjusting it, it really just doesn't feel good.
The safety. I never liked crossbolt safeties and having a crossbolt safety in the trigger is worse yet.
Needing tools to remove the stock. This would make for a great backpack gun if the stock was ether easily removable/attachable or had a folding stock (from factory). Also, for whatever reason they do not supply an allen key to attach it.
Non-removable modulator. Much like the the stock, this would make for a great backpack gun if you could remove the modulator.
Shot count. I get 17 shots before being off reg. Granted, I did increase the HS +2 CW. The green bar on the gague is a lie.
You need to remove the stock to change the HS.
The mags are bad (see pic below).
Not the greatest in the power department.

Although I put a lot of cons up there, most of them are not really that bad. Just kind of nit picks that I would like changed. A lot of the cons can be remidied though aftermarket parts. The only ones that really bother me is, the shot count (I plan on getting an aftermarket plenum), the mags (also plan on getting aftermarket ones), and the trigger. Overall I think it is a great gun. Definitely would recommend it, at least so far we will see how it holds up.

Here is the difference using the single shot tray vs using the mag (5 shot groups). Quite a difference if you ask me.


Here is Crossman Hollowpoints and H&N Barracuda Hunter Extremes (using the shot tray). I did shoot some Hades as well, sorry I didn't take a pic of them. They did slightly better then the BHEs. I also shot some JTS Dead Center 25gr, but they were so bad it wasn't even worth taking a picture. I feel like it just doesn't have the power for 25gr pellets.

Clearing out some guns from my rack to make room for new ones including this R 9 clone .177 BAM XS B26 in very good shape. Spring and seals were replaced with Maccari parts when I got it and now shooting a very smooth 11.5 ftlb with ftt pellets. Has a few small dings in wood but they are very small and wood looks very good as well as the metal. Get this nice R9 clone for $150 shipped, ppff or postal MO.

Anyone shooting these? I tried the regular non heavy and they sucked in everything I have. I happened to have a tin of the heavies that I decided to try in one of my Krals, and they shoot better than the hades it usually eats.

They hit about a half inch low at 30 yards compared to the hades, but they're giving tighter groups. The hades give me roughly nickel groups at 30-50 yards, but these were dime sized.



So I ordered 12 tins lol.



70 bucks shipped for 3000 pellets @ roughly 2 cents a shot and better than it's current 5 cents a shot main diet? No brainer!

I E-mailed Zan in regard to their new 22 and 24 grain .177 slugs.

CUZ i am a bit confused as to who would shoot them and in what, CUZ myself and i think most other Danish shooters, well when we get to 16 grain in weight that is about all we can get to fly well out of a range of things people here shoot ( FX - Daystate and what not )

But unless i am the victim of a terrible case of #2 language VS #2 language, it seem like there is a Heavy barrel i am not aware off.

" It is about twist of the barrel. Standard fx liners shot up to 16 grains, all heavier they werent stabilised. New heavy liner and most of the cz, lw barrel do shoot well those.
If your fx shoots 20 grains side way then you dont have the real heavy barrel in. New heavy barrel shoots 20 grain the best of all.
22 grain is same lenght as 20 grains just flat point and 24 is slightly longer "

My CZub barrel in the Two do not shoot 20 grain well, the Heavy barrel in my Maverick also do not do that, actually it is even worse than the Two i feel.
Tried speeds of 850 - 1050 in both rifles. And of course MANY boxes of ammo, and not forgetting many hours on the range.

So i am thinking, either there is a new Heavy barrel in .177 i am not aware off, or my and other Danish shooters idea of well shooting are not in line with what other feel is well shooting.

This is not meant to be a tutorial. If you decide to attempt this mod yourself do so at your own risk.

Not that anyone really mods marauders anymore, but ya never know what kind of history will repeat itself. I have yet to see this mod done on a maraauder so I figured I'd share.

I found the stock velocity metering screw on marauders lack luster, requiring an Allen key to adjust, while being limited on how much it can restrict with large ports, I decided to add a quarter turn transfer path adjuster as many modern pcp's have. (Plus I shamelessly epoxied my VMS bore ages ago as it was the in thing to do at the time). I have another unregulated marauder that I may keep the stock OEM setup, but probably not.

The adjuster I fabricated is made from 7mm stainless steel tube with 4mm ID, opened up where it matters to .235"x.215" for a perfectly blended .225" exit port going through my valve. It's retained by a 4-40 screw and the knob is also 4-40, both of which were pressed inserts jb welded on either end of the 7mm tube. The adjuster is designed that in event of failure, the adjuster will remain within the air tube opposed to being ejected. Its wicked how well the adjusters port blends into the existing valve porting (seen below), one can barely tell its present when fully open. I drilled the 7mm bore through the valve on the opposing end of the OEM adjuster as the magazine sticks out from the right of the gun, I thought it be best to avoid adding a knob right next to where the magazine protrudes from.

The 7mm bored hole leaves less than 1mm between it and the .238" throat I run, as well as roughly 1mm between the valve exit port and the valve seats lowest point AND roughly 1mm and change at the top of the exit port, meaning there is very, very little room for error in placing a 7mm hole into a marauder valve ported to .23" for a tp adjuster. Going just .03" off in one direction means you're breaking through and ruining a valve, or impeding air flow through the throat. I did only use a hand drill, but I ended with a piece of 80 grit sandpaper rolled around a drill bit to really dial in the last hundredth of an inch for placement.

In 25 cal with 34 grain, the power wheel currently will take the power down at max from 65 fpe to 25 fpe at min. In 22 cal with 15.89 grains the power wheel cuts the power from 35 fpe down to around 17 fpe. So in both calibers it cuts the power satisfactorily well. If I ran slightly smaller ports I would be able to shave more power off but frankly I hit my goal and realize the limitations of space constraints in a marauder valve.

The primary reason I went this direction on my marauder is due to running a pilot valve that is hard to tune to both low end and high end in the sense that, it just wants to open/flow, which results in choking the airway being the most effective way to limit power versus solely relying on hammer spring. Choking airways and remaining within 95% of your airguns peak power output is most ideal for consistency, and running large ports limits an airguns power range unless an ability to choke/reduce airways is available or you wildly swing reg pressure around. This makes it easy to setup a rifle to shoot both slugs and pellets, shoot high or low power, or simply just pellets with large weight difference without having to tweak your regulator settings a ton. Freedom!

The knob matches my rear hammer spring / ssg access knob that I use to change my ssg carriers on the fly, also matches my stainless probe. I like how the dial indicator hash marks and numbers come close to matching the stock marauder engravings, I do wish the black was a little less glossy but I don't mind it having a little pop.

I just got a crown mkii .177 FAC today and tomorrow i'm installing it in a Saber chassis.

I see FX has a ton of options for tuning and upgrading. Huma-air also have alot (most maybe only for the mk1 - can't figure it out)

I'm new to FX so what are the first "must do" upgrades I have to look into from FX, Huma and so?

Kind of new to Airguns. I recently purchased a co2 Beretta pistol, which I am in the process of returning.
My only other gun is an HW100.
Im looking at pistols but not quite ready to spend the $$$ on an HW44. That was until I shot a pistol that had none of the precision that I became accustomed to.
I only shoOr targets and plinking but the HW100 is a 22cal.
What is the best cal. For a pistol?
and why?
I love the 22 but being a newbie I don’t know if .177 is more appropriate for pistols.

Need help guys....

Working a panthera for a fellow member. We found that the valve pin was bent so we bought a new pin and seat from Utah. We have everything installed.....and we are getting air escaping through the valve pin retainer. Seals are lubricated and good, and not seeing any other issues.

I know I am missing something and it is irritating us to no end. What is it that I am missing?

Panthera is a 25 cal with the air bottle at the front and blocking plate in the back for a stock.
