Barrel fouling within 75ish shots

I recently bought a used barrel for cheap, previous owner wanted to get rid of it cause “it doesn’t shoot right”. It being a Ghost barrel (23 inch) and given how cheap it was I thought how bad can it be and got it. Gave it a deep clean and slapped it on the rifle, shot like a laser. One hole groups at 50y and 5/8 at 75y. For around 70 shots, then it turned bad, poi wandering around and 1.5-2 inch groups at 50y. Clean, repeat, same result. Looked into the barrel with a bore scope and felt like I was standing in Versaille’s mirror room. Someone polished the barrel with a mirror finish, not sure whether it was the guy I bought it from or the previous owner of the gun. Anyway, given how good the barrel is shooting before fouling I want to save it if possible, here’s my plan:

1. Scrub with brass brush and kroil
2. Aceton patches to get rid of whatever may be in there.
3. Patches with kroil to clean, let the kroil sit, dry patches
4. A few strokes with bore mop and 600 grit diamond paste, like 5 strokes max along the barrel, to rough it up a bit
5. More kroil patches, let it sit
6. Clean with ballistol, dry patches
7. Wax with renaissance wax

Interested in what people think whether this might help (or not). Never had to “save” a barrel other than a good cleaning… maybe the barrel gurus can chime in and keep me from making a mistake :) @Motorhead @nervoustrig @Firewalker (sorry for the unsolicited tags and thanks in advance!

FX  Options for DRS chassis or stock

I have a DRS Classic 22 700 that I really don't like the synthetic stock.

So I have been looking for a chassis or a fully adjustable laminated wood stock.

And it looks like there will be barreled actions of the DRS base/classic

Screenshot_20241124_203007_Chrome.jpg

And the DRS Pro

Screenshot_20241124_203034_Chrome.jpg

So then you will be able to order either walnut stock

Screenshot_20241124_203125_Chrome.jpg

Screenshot_20241124_203159_Chrome.jpg

Or synthetic stock.

Screenshot_20241124_203231_Chrome.jpg

There are a few after market companies that are making chassis for the DRS.

The Aeron CZ isn't available in the USA, but I do like the ability to use any AR buttstock that you prefer.

Screenshot_20241124_204206_Chrome.jpg

The Saber Tactical chassis looks like it will be light weight, but doesn't have any length of pull adjustment.
They should offer an adapter to add an AR buffer tube so we could use any buttstock we like.

Screenshot_20241124_204556_Chrome.jpg

Then there is the Delta Force chassis, this one is trying to complete against the MDT Elite Chassis.
It looks nice but spendy!

Screenshot_20241124_210149_Chrome.jpg

I have contacted MDT to see if they will be making any of there other chassis for the DRS, as of now they have no plans.

A GRS stock would be nice for the DRS but as of now they don't plan on making one.

As I was writing this I found the Form stock at Pyramid Air

Screenshot_20241124_213550_Chrome.jpg

Doesn't look like it has length of pull adjustment though.
I will have to email them to find out for sure.

The one I like best is the Aeron CZ tactical, but it's not available in the USA.

The Form almost fits the bill if there is length of pull adjustment

FX  Fx m3 removing bottle difficulty

So I have a mk2 and I can remove the bottle on my gun with 1 hand holding the gun and 1 hand removing the bottle. But I just got a m3 impact with 380cc bottle from a agn member and when I remove the bottle it's always very hard. I can't remove the bottle with 1 hand like I did with the mk2. I have to have someone hold the gun and I have to grip the bottle with both hands and twist very hard inch by inch until it bleed the air then I can easily remove it. I know it's under pressure but why is it so hard to remove the bottle on the m3 vs on the mk2. Threads look find and no cross threads. Is there any way to make removing bottle easily? Maybe lube the threads with something? Also is it OK to be removing the bottles on and off? Cause thinking of getting extra bottle to swap out when in the field. But see video of earnest saying bottle should not be remove back and forth due to wear and can damage it. So I guess the impact isn't bottle swappable?

Chronographs  SOLD Barrel Mounted Ballistic Chronograph

Selling a barrel mounted chronograph. Used it a few times then got a deal on a Labradar so now I'm putting it up for sale. It's a reliable unit but only reads in METERS PER SECOND probably because it came directly from the vendor in China. Will record up to a 36 shot string, comes with everything shown in the photos. Asking $15.00 shipped within the first 48 states only. Paypal F&F preferred or you add 3.5% for the fees.

2300 30 cal carbine first blood

Finally got a tree rats this morning. I've been wanting to see what this lower power thirty would do. I caught this little girl at the base of my maple tree. She was young and dumb, and let me walk out with the rifle in hand and didn't even notice.

Tuned for 44 fpe with fx hybrids, I took aim at the vitals and hit just a bit low. She ran maybe 15 feet and dropped. I don't think this would've been recovered if it had not been for the caliber size. 177 or 22 I think it would've ran off and died in a tree. Full pass thru at 10 yards. I think that's a lung hanging out of the entry wound lol.

Other  Interesting diopters...

Here's an early Weihrauch diopter and Falke diopter from the early-mid 1950's. Both are steel, hand machined/fit with assembly numbers, the Weihrauch with an old fashioned oversized aperture disk, the Falke with a cute little adjustable iris feature. The Falke has a mechanism to lock the diopter from sliding on the dovetail, the Weihrauch using the less elegant arrestor hole screw! Someone is copying someone?

Traditional Rifle  NLA Sheridan 1971 Silver Streak STEROID by Mac1

Here is a nice Silver streak from 1971 rebuilt by Mac 1 as a steroid about 10 years ago. I don’t have a chrony but it shoots stronger and has a longer range than a regular streak. Dumps all the air with a JSB .20 cal pellet at 12 pumps. With the steroids, you have to cock it before you pump it.

Karma  Karma SLS standard Frankenstein gun

Got mine a couple of days ago and so far put around 500 pellets through It . Why Is It a Frankenstein gun you ask well the air tank and trigger are straight out of the AEA parts bin and maybe the regulator and fill prob .

Cons ...$1400 gun and no adjustable trigger !!! wish I had know that before I bought the gun but that's on me I guess , trigger sucks no first stage maybe a 2ib pull weight like I said not adjustable , accuracy using JSB AEA JTS 18G pellets out to 55 yards no wind about a 2" group after 500 shots I would say the gun Is broken In I was hoping for better , my gun does not de-cock you have to shoot It to empty the chamber , Hammer spring all the way In or out didn't make a bit of difference to FPS , fill prob when screwed all the way In Is way below the arca rail which means you cant get a regular fill adapter on It you need an extended fill adapter ( not supplied ) , 50 shots , standard deviation 27.4 FPS 153 FPS spread first shot 995 last shot before it fell of the reg 856 FPS reg set at 2100 PSI out of the box IMO that sux . LOL don't get me started on the accuracy when switched to semi auto . Loudness Is on the edge depends on how big your back yard Is .

Pros....Erm oh yeah fit and finish Is pretty good , Mags work well , side lever smooth enough , adjustable folding stock works well ( I'm struggling here ) arca rail Is a nice to have .

I looked on Huma's web site to see If they sold a Regulator for Karma air guns but couldn't find any thing the first thing I'd do Is switch out the reg . The trigger hopefully will get better with wear If I could fix those two things I think It would be a good gun . So as of now the jury's still out .

The first target Is the Karma SLS the second Is my $200 Gamo hunter pro .22 ( you get what I'm saying right ? ) both out to 55 yards .

Traditional Rifle  WTS Baikal MP-513M .177 Cal - $320 Shipped

Rare Russian made Baikal MP-513M .177 cal rifle for sale. The rifle is in excellent shape. The metal work is immaculate and has a unique textured black parkerized type finish to it. The stock is in great shape with only a few small handling and compression marks. Hammer type safety operates as intended. The rifle functions great and shoots hard. Given naughty Putin's antics, its very doubtful we'll ever see these being imported again.
