HW/Weihrauch  Question for HW30 shooters (particularly if they also shoot an HW97)

I’ve had an HW30, for over a year and have been really enjoying it. Last week I swapped my Hawke Vantage 3-7x40 for a AIRMAX 4-12x40. I don’t personally know any other HW30 owners. My questions are 1) how accurate can I expect this little rifle be at 50 yards? I’ve just started shooting this distance at a range and I’ll try and attach what I consider a good 5 shot group at 50y. Second question, 2) I’ve just ordered an HW97 and a Hawke 6-24x50 AIRMAX IR, can I expect better accuracy at 50 yards with this fixed barrel springer? 3) I know each gun may have its pellet preference, are there any you recommend that are outstanding at 50 yards? Thanks for any comments from shooters with these specific rifles!

RTI  Caution on Bottle Shield with RTI Mora

Hey guys, just a little update on my experience with the RTI Mora. It's been great so far, except for this bit. Seems that the screws I got sent with that secure the M-Lok Shield to the gun might be a little shallow. The hole is about 7.3mm deep but the screws only go about 3.2mm in depth, leaving 4mm of unutilized space. See the photo where I compare the depth to the screws themselves. When I had this slung over my shoulder it just randomly stripped both threads on the gun. I had used it like this for a while now, and I'm quite sure I wasn't rough on slinging it over my shoulder either. I had the gun set up as shown in the photo with the grouse I got (shameless brag).

I've emailed both the distributor and RTI themselves today so we'll see what can be done about it. I can probably just use longer screws but seeing as it's only 4mm of thread this time, I doubt 1mm more would have an effect for long.

Any other RTI Mora owners out there that can share if their screws are also this shallow?

FX  Does higher reg. pressure mean more stress on the gun

I see comments like "Pushing the gun pretty hrad" or "Running it pretty hot". These comments generally relate to regulator pressures and/or hammer spring tensions etc. I am not very knowledgable in PCP guns so wondering the affect of running a gun as 150 or so reg pressure, or I guess I should say, running a gun at the max the company recommends it for.
From a newbie viewpoint I am assuming that running at say 150 would put more stress on O rings especially as well as many other parts as opposed to running the same gun at 120 or less. I am sure there are a lot of you who will say you have run your gun at max pressure and is not caused a problem, BUT, my question does not relate to a particular gun but in general the running of max pressures as opposed to way less being easier on the gun.

Air Arms  Who is doing Air Arms tuning these days? (USA)

I would like to get back into shooting springers (preferably TX200 or ProSport) and was wondering who the springer tuning gurus are these days? I used to know who they were years ago, but I'm sure things have changed......thanks for any help. Mostly going to just be for target shooting, and maybe field target if I can find a club near me in NW Indiana.

Pre -order ....What a joke.

I have spent my time on pre-order lists. Not one ever delivered at a reasonable time. The longer you wait the better the choices become . Times must be good for the manufacturer. I had a prominent airgun dealer hold my $25. deposit for a year. Never happened. Performance is on their part. Let them play their PRE-ORDER games by themselves.

PCP Rifle  SOLD SOLD...Chalenger Pro FS/FT...SOLD

.25 cal, shoots fine, holds air functions as it is suppose to. Reg is set to 125 bar, power knob is half way between min and max power. H&H Baracudas at 930 fps. Includes Buck Rail can that I turned the texture off and wrapped in fake carbon fiber along with the cheek rest. Donny FL adapter, fill probe, extra orings, heavy and light spring, the two dove tail to pic rails, two mags, single shot tray, folding stock . Scope, bipod and rings not included.
It's been super dependable, it's in pretty good shape except for the 2 scratches shown. I shimmed the stock where it folds to tighten it up and added a set screw to the stock where it adjust the LOP to tighten it up also.

What is this thing underneath the scope bottom?

All my scopes have a flag bottom. Then this new scope I order came in and it have this thing on the bottom of the scope at an angle. Not sure what it is but I used a pliers and turn it counter clockwise and it came loose. I kept turning it and there is a spring inside that pushed the whole thing out. I was like wtf lol. I tried to screw it back but the spring was so hard. You have to really push it down and twist it back. Took me awhile but I was able to screw it back. So what the hell is this thing for? Why most scope don't have it and then there is this scope that have it.

Other  Quickie Hickory highlights

Great show as usual from Tony McDaniel! And these pics are not even close to the tip of the iceberg - just a few highlights that grabbed my eye.

Let me start by kicking my own butt for NOT getting any pics of Paul Hudson's superb collection of pre-war German guns! Shooting his lovely and well-tuned second-variant Diana 58 was the highlight of my weekend.

Time machine back to about 1975: about a dozen literally NEW FWB, HW, Wischo, and Anschutz classics in their minty Air Rifle Headquarters boxes, with all paperwork and accessories. One of the most jaw-dropping things I've ever seen at a show...but all hoovered up by a well-known dealer. Enuff said on that...
