Diana Bandit, Artemis PP800 and Snowpeak PP800 information

Hello everyone,

I am starting this thread to gather as much information ( facts ) about the above listed Pistols for maintenance, repair and modifying.

From all the information that I have gathered so far, it appears that these pistols are “exactly” the same in every respect. In other words, all parts are interchangeable and all aftermarket parts for one model will fit the other models. If this statement is incorrect please let me know.

The only difference that I have found so far is that the PP800R is a “regulated” pistol. The Bandit does not come standard with a regulator.

My Bandit with factory settings shooting JSB Exact 8.44gr gave these results on the Chronograph:
Start Pressure 200 Bar
End Pressure 140 Bar
Amount of Air used 60 Bar
High Low Average Extreme Spread Standard Deviation
868 812 850 56 16


My Snowpeak PP800R with factory settings shooting JSB Exact 8.44gr gave these results on the Chronograph:
Start Pressure 200 Bar
End Pressure 100 Bar
Amount of Air used 100 Bar
High Low Average Extreme Spread Standard Deviation
753 643 712 110 39

The Snowpeak uses all of the air just to shoot 8 pellets and the FPS is lower, the Extreme Spread is not good and the Std Deviation is terrible.

It looks like I need to remove or readjust the Regulator. I am looking for any and all suggestions on how to improve the performance of the Snowpeak.

im guessing its going to mostly be in the hammer spring and how smooth things are and variations like that can happen between just individual guns ..check all your orings etc, the middle barrel set screw is dead in the middle of the tp sealing area and can leak air to, that may affect things depending on its individual fit, i learned that after noticing oil spraying underneath my scope lol .. theres not much to them ..

Thank you for the info, I have checked as close as I can and all seem OK. I have a new long barrel on order and I might just take the gun apart before I install the new barrel. I haven't needed a regulator in the Bandit so I might just remove the regulator when I take the gun apart.

Based on H&N FTT 8.64gr for a 16 shot string. Was 3000 psi (200 Bar) dropping to around 1,800 psi (120 Bar)

My MV dropped off very quickly but I blame that on the small 50cc air reservoir and it being unregulated. Regards

After 16 shots you still had 120 bar left in the cylinder, that is very close to my Bandit. I normally get around 20 good shots with the unregulated Bandit. This new Snowpeak shoots 7 shots that are close to each other and number 8 shot sounds weak.

First of we need to establish that these guns are pretty much, well, not great feats of engineering. The Bandit shoots like a tire going flat. The regulated version still has that big ole unregulated hammer in it. It’s in there bouncing like a little jackhammer. It’s going to be hard to tune and get a nice shot count when your hammer is triple tapping the valve. My approach was getting my hammer under control. Then find the right reg setting. Then shim the valve to tighten things up that last little bit. My gun was is a 177 so I didn’t do anything with the porting.

There is no helping a Bandit unless you use a lighter spring and play with transfer port sizes. I built some TP’s for a guy over on GTA last year. I kept making them smaller until he found one that made him happy. They built that gun to show big fps numbers out of a pistol and guys flocked to them. They should have built the gun to shoot what a gun should shoot with that short barrel and tiny airtube. Then it would be a gun that you’re not using the next mildot down every time you pull the trigger. Unfortunately they wouldn’t have sold as many if they advertised the gun as a 400fps gun.

I played around with my .25 Bandit for awhile trying to tune it to shoot my 22 grain cast wadcutters. I ended up cutting 5 coils off the hammer spring and only filling to 125 bar. That gave me 7 shots with an ES of 13 at a velocity the wadcutters liked. It now has a 9ci bottle and an 1800 psi regulator and gets 48 shots. I'm done with the tiny tube other than using it for a plenum.

I have the Diana Chaser and the Bandit and now the Snowpeak PP800R. I have shot a ton of pellets through the Chaser and the Bandit and just love shooting these pistols. I plan to spend a good amount of time modifying the PP800R to turn it into a benchrest pistol. I have a bunch of items on order now ( long barrel, stock, barrel band, etc, etc. ) and will order more. This is going to be a really fun project for a basic little gun. I think you will wind up shooting your pistol more and more and have a ton of fun. Bye the way, they make a heck of a Squirrel gun, just ask this guy.

I am ported to 4mm, Bandit barrel with a stock moderator. I cut 1 coil from the hammer spring for a more consistent and smaller ES. I tried more spring pressure, which gave me more fps but a wider ES and a little less accuracy.

Thank you, it shoots a very good set of numbers all very close. Even shot #8 did not fall off that much.

Here is what 14 shots with the hammer spring pressure increased with a plastic ring slipped onto the spring guide. It did up the fps but made the spread too wide and accuracy was not as good.

As you might guess after shot 8 POI dropped. Unregulated the gun shot starting low around 607fps trending up to shot 6 @699 peaking at shot 8@715 and then trending down to shot 14 @613. The shot curve was looking just like the fps curve. Hard to be sure you would hit what you wanted.

Hello everyone,

I ordered another .177 cal Snowpeak PP800R yesterday from Airgun Archery Fun. Wes is going to do a custom tune to my specifications before he ships it to me. I will do a review after I have had time to shoot at least a Tin of pellets down the barrel.

I've been working on my .25 carbine today.

It has a 9ci tank with an 1800 psi regulator. A Froggy's Airguns drop block and m10x1 to 1/2x20 adapter mated to an Airgun Capital muffler and screwed down to tension the carbon fiber sleeve. It has a heavier .047 wire spring that's trimmed to 2.6 inches and attached at the back so the hammer is free flight. I'm getting close to 19 fpe with AA 25.4s with this configuration.
