Time to combine Open and Hunter?

So in other words make the unlimited class open class. Personally I think ALL these classes should be left alone. Like was said earlier by Chas Open class is a great class for those that want to try sitting on a bum bag but may not have a 12ft lb rifle.

The problem I see with FT in the USA Is everyone breaks in shooting Hunter class and sees how convenient it is to plop there ass on a bucket and use shooting sticks to steady their rifle. They get use to this convenient way of shooting and never try ANY other class. Then you have the ones that want more magnification while shooting off a bucket and using sticks. Like where's the challenge if that was to happen. I also agree with TargetOH and think Hunter class should go back to 12X magnification and while there at it make it 12 ft lbs as well and while we're at it let's do like they do in England and lay prone and not be able to adjust your parallax. Let's make Hunter division like it was intended to be shot.
Agree to disagree here…
sports must advance as equipment advances….. or they die out.
Plus it’s not international WFTF we are talking about… they compete separately on their own terms and levels as it should be do to international laws etc.
That and today’s “hunters” take whatever they have that works and keeps them comfortable in the field. Without advancement we are still chucking fire tempered wood spears.

Shooting off a bum bag and shooting off a bucket and sticks are too COMPLETELY different disciplines. You should try it and then tell me differently. You really don't need the straps you still have 20 ft lbs so wind holdovers are really easy! I get the fact that alot of people are older and their health prevents them from getting up and down off the ground but for those that can should be shooting off a bum bag in open or WFTF. It's more like how the sport was intended to be played. We just want things uber easy and convenient here in the USA . I commend a long time Hunter shooter Rick Vaeth for trying open class at the end of this FT season here on the East Coast. Although Rick is older I believe in his 60s he's up for a different challenge shooting open class. He has definitely earned my respect trying a new discipline. Something VERY rarely seen a Hunter shooter getting rid of the ole bucket and sticks and trying a class more physically demanding discipline.
Age and injuries are the biggest issues for most wanting to try shooting off a bum bag.

Hunter Class is by far the LARGEST CLASS and with that FACT should be able to alter the rules to the majority vote of shooters in the class.
Sadly politics seldom roll that way and the "Good O'l Boys Club" will continue to tell the majority the way it will be.

And the BOG wonders why AG clubs are not swarming to be AAFTA affiliated or no longer paying dues.

Scott, I'm disappointed that you take to AAFTA bashing in your responses.

Jeff,
It is not just my feelings alone as this issue of the BOG doing what they wish and doing what a core group thinks best and not to the desires of the greater membership has been an issue for over a decade !! I'm just thick enough in skin to be one to publicly state it.
Don't shoot the messenger :cautious:

Scott...It's very contradictory to point out how the class has flourished and become the biggest and, therefore, most important....but then strip the credit from the very organization that created it and guided its success.

If you start your own organization, then the vast number of Hunter shooters that you believe have elected you as their mouthpiece will surely follow you anywhere. In one fell swoop... you'll cripple the good ole boys and take the sport to heights beyond comprehension.
