What springer did you shoot today?

A nice, warm day with some time to shoot...unfortunately very windy. Despite the wind, pellet tested my new FWB 300 at 30 yds. At least narrowed down my choices to 3. Not as smooth or as accurate as my FWB 150, I expected it to be *twice* as good all around ;-). Still an excellent rifle, the only interesting thing that happened was that the scope literally fell off when I went to put it away (I have wall mounted racks in my air conditioned garage/shop). The Pic rail adapter failed, obviously loosened from the sled action. I'll have to keep an eye on that. Luckily, the only damage was to the lens cover, and that was minor. I do have a question for the hive mind...this rifle's bluing is essentially non-existent. I'm going to send it in to David Slade for a tune and he offers re-bluing services. Not cheap. I don't mind the "old rifle" look, but what would you guys do? I am going to refinish the stock, just because I hate that thick varnish look and the wood underneath deserves to be seen...Thanks! Rick

I also shot my HW50 with a Vortek kit. It has been neglected for a couple of weeks. Cheers!

I have a FWB300s that I got new back about 1984, great rifle but I never developed any love for the blocky stock. I recently managed to find a FWB 150, and got it in and it was obvious that it needed new seals so it is now out to David Slade for resealing and tune up, Hope to get it back before easter.

You guys are so lucky to have a David Slade. I could keep him busy for a month. Crow

I got my TX200 out Saturday morning.
It was very cold and 18 mph crosswind.
Shooting 12 ft lb it was great. I only did about ten shots. Not sighted in at all it held a decent group before my fingers got too cold to load . I’d already been out for an hour. But the old girl shoots great.

CONGRATULATIONS!!….probably be odd not hearing a generator humming in the background.. John
Thanks. It’s amazing how you get dependent on those noises.I could hear 3 running. Glad it’s over. Crow

How many gallons of gasoline? Just in case
I went through a $1000 of propane. I also had to pay $250. for an emergency delivery. Crow

Man, got up, have power, going to put on the Bermuda shorts and going to shoot my ass off today. This is the first thing I see when I got up this morning. A little blizzard.

With a relentless cold wind, I go down to the gun room. I managed to put my HW98 .22 back together with a different scope as well.

Superb gun. Hopefully try it out later if wind dies. Crow

Dave it’s good news you have your power back. Got a question for you, how is that older Hw50 going that you were having trouble with.
As a side note we just got connected to the NBN (national broadband network). Before I had to connect the iPad through hotspot on my iPhone, always dropped out. Now when I’m on this iPad your pictures of your rifles come up in a flash compared to not at all or eventually. Isn’t technology great😁

I did get the springs for the older 50’s. Just put a 98 together this morning. Probably will be my next job, but no plans on when. Got to be in the mood. Have a few sets of springs waiting as well.
I can’t keep up to the technology. It’s mind boggling. Have a few drones, so fascinating. Hard to lose they comeback on their own.
Hope all is well. Crow
That pic above your post that‘s the 50 in the other rack your talking about.

Went in the hospital yesterday for check up and discuss results from surgery. I’m still in a bit of pain when eating and swallowing and that’s after 6 weeks but it’s getting better.
I had transoral robotic surgery, there were clear margins around the invasive stuff which is great but unclear margins around the carcinoma insitue. Apparently from cautery burned the margins and they are not sure. Any how another check up in 6 weeks. They said they will be keeping a close eye on me and if something pops up more surgery. Funny thing is I’m starting to run out of tongue☹️

Gary you stay healthy! We need to hear that 77. Crow

Putting things away in my shop and the ring rings. Usually I disregard it because it’s the delivery guys usually let me know they were there. I meander my way upstairs and open door expecting a package for my wife. And a UPS lady is standing there. 99% of my guns I have to drive to post office 20 miles away. But not today.
I have had several guns on order since before Christmas and still not here, and I know a few are on their way. But it’s not them.
This gun is one of two I traded for seats from the old Chicago arena, I had 10 of them back when they tore it down, maybe in 94. I already have this gun and plan on using different springs in it. I love the long barrel, so much easier to jack vs. a 95 or 98.

Tonite I’ll clean it and give it a scope, when the Queen crashes.

I have some welding to do tomorrow. I have all the pieces to complete the spring targets. Crow

Finally got downstairs after a few weeks of OT and life. The yard is still too snowy/muddy to get outside.
