Impact of tarriff on China?

I am in favor of most of our new president's actions but I wonder what impact tariffs on China will have. My favorite P35s easily fit under the now former $800 limit for application of the former tariff. Now I've heard that has gone away. Our less expensive guns and compressers come from China. I guess they will now be a little more expensive. I hope that is the only impact.

Umarex  New Notos Plenum

Curious if anyone has seen or tried this new Notos plenum yet. I went on eBay looking for the 15cc tube plenum hoping for a little increase in power and saw this one that I haven’t seen before. 25cc and claims to add 60-100 fps. I was hoping for a little more power on the Notos and hope this gets me closer to 800fps. Currently shooting 725fps (18.5fpe) with 15.89g Hades. If this can get me into the low 20s I’d be pretty happy.

Has the popularity of airguns fallen off from years past?

It seems just 4 years ago the interest in airguns was massive and now it seems to have cooled off substantially, with the crack down on moderators and airguns in general, not to mention the higher cost of airgun over real guns seems to caused a cooling off towards the sport too.
Even selling off old gear seems to be slower also, I've had one of my rifles for sale at a reasonable price for over a years and no interest
What do you think?

FX  FX impact with little shot power

Hello shooters! I have one of the first FX Impact made FX smooth twist 30 Cal it use to shoot like a dream. Last year it started lobbing pellets, So I installed a new seal kit. My gauge on the bottle reads 200bar the regulator gauge reads 130bar did a leak test from butt to muzzle even let set for 24hrs shows no leaks and gauges never lost any bars. finally shot it 30yrds watched the pellet drop at the front of the target. how disappointing. If any one knows or can tell me how to resolve this issue. Sure will appreciated it thank you!

Regarding weighing pellets - The scale matters.....

Here are my thoughts on the scales and methods used to weigh pellets.

We should focus on three key aspects:

**Accuracy** - Is the measurement correct when the scale indicates that a pellet weighs 1.175 grams? Is it necessary for us? Alternatively, are we more concerned about consistency so we can categorize all pellets of a given weight together?

**Precision**—Your scale should be able to read at least two decimal places, but preferably three. If a scale with two decimal places shows that two pellets weigh 1.15 grams each, one pellet could weigh 1.15 grams, while the other could weigh 1.59 grams. Therefore, three decimal points are necessary for precise measurements.

**Repeatability**—This is the most critical aspect. If I weigh a tin full of pellets, I need to ensure that the weight of each pellet reads the same at the beginning and end of my session. Otherwise, what's the point?

Additionally, when choosing a scale, consider the weight of the pellets you are measuring. If you shoot pellets that weigh between 1 to 3 grams, a scale that can measure 50 grams or more may not be ideal, as your measurements would be at the lower end of its range. Instead, look for a scale rated closer to the weights you typically measure. Since I only shoot .22 caliber pellets, I prefer a scale measuring 0 to 20 grams. (Finding a budget-friendly scale with a smaller range can be challenging.)

It's also worth noting that most scales include a calibration weight for their upper weight limits. For example, a 50-gram scale often comes with a 50-gram weight. My scale, however, has a 10-gram weight, which allows me to verify its accuracy much closer to what I typically measure.

Scales come with valuable instructions, such as allowing them to stabilize at the ambient temperature where they are being utilized and ensuring that the surface they rest on is level and stable.

I routinely check the calibration of my scale with the designated weight approximately every twenty pellets to ensure that it hasn’t drifted and to confirm that its accuracy has not been affected by my overloading it during pellet insertion or removal. It doesn't take much.

Please let me know if any of this was helpful.

FX  M4 .177 issues ahhhh!!

So I chopped the POI shifting to high winds day to day here sense I got my gun back from warranty. The accuracy is changing between shoots 1 to 1 1/2 mils left to right and 1/2 to 1 mil low or high. I've not touched guns settings sense I've gotten it back! Tomorrow Im doing full chronograph number and trying different scope. Scope now is element optics helix.
Calling utah to getting warranty started. Starting to hate my decision on m4 .177 route. Probably get a lot of haters on FX owners but doesn't change my mind on FX being the best hunting rigs. I'm not a paper shooter so 1 hole groups aren't my goal at all.
Avoid the M4 in .177 anyone looking to buy new. Yes there are people going to cry out and say it's a tuning gun it meant to be adjusted and messed with and I'd respond shut up its a new gun. At least perform out the box before tuning to my individual need's. Hate to bail on the M4 but it might be time!

RTI  I want a new air rifle. Prophet P-3? seems to check all the boxes what other guns am I missing

Traditional Rifle  SOLD Parker Hale Dragon sporter in .22, $650 shipped

Parker Hale Dragon sporter, single stroke pneumatic in 22, $650 - shipped.
This is perhaps the most robustly constructed ssp out there and is in very good shape but stock does show evidence of use as a hunter... likely in Great Britain. It is sub 12 ft lb and is around 11 ft lb +/- with one stroke. It works properly... possibly better than new...
Be aware that this is a heavy rifle... it's all heavy steel and walnut...
I had the FT match version and this one is built better so likely the Mk2, though no markings... just the differences in valve and trigger.
Somewhat rare and definitely interesting...

I don't have any particular attachment to this UTG scope so if desired, can probably work something out...
I recently resealed it so should be good for years. I've shot about 500 rounds since reseal and it's consistent and reasonably accurate...
Thanks for looking,
Bob

Traditional Rifle  SOLD Theoben Eliminator in 20 cal, $1150 shipped

Theoben Eliminator in 20 cal with Bausch and Lomb 3000, 4 - 12 x in nice condition.
It came to me doing 26 ft lb with JSB 15.89s. I bumped the valve lightly and it dropped to 23 ft lb and is a bit easier to cock.
The only flaw I can find is the mark on the barrel as pictured. Nice stock... has some non-skid applied to the fore end but I can't see any damage with that install and it actually handles nice with that in place. This is a powerful, heavy springer but very beautifully finished...

Most anything really that is not a bullpup, might consider a Prophet Performance
It doesn't hurt to inquire if you have something interesting.

Scope Zero for BR

People send me lots of pictures of BR cards and ask me what I think.

First of all....there is very little I can tell by looking at a card with no knowledge of the exact wind conditions and how the shooter held for each one. It would be far better if the shooter aimed at the same place and then said the wind was this or that.

Anyway,...one thing I can tell when I look at a card is whether they had a good vertical zero on the scope. If you have a good vertical zero....you will have an equal distribution of shots above the center line and below.

Even the very best rifles do not shoot a single bullet sized hole for 25 shots. The very best will be at least double... and most more than that at 50y.

So if our imaginary gun shoots a vertical spread of 3 bullets wide for 25 shots....the actual scope zero is in the middle of that group.

I see tons of cards that have no shots either above or below centerline. 15-20 shots all hitting near centerline in vertical and then some low misses. If the shooter simply raised the scope zero a couple clicks they would have missed significantly less or none at all.

BR is won by hitting the 10 the most. Hitting dead center won't raise your numerical score...but you will get more xs. If you want to get a higher score....you should stop thinking about xs.

Lots of things can change you vertical zero a couple clicks from card to card. One example...If you use lube...it will take a while for it to be fully distributed over the length of the barrel. Getting on a card immediately may result in a different vertical zero then you had on the last card. If you want to get the most points every time...you should never trust that your vertical zero is exactly the same. A couple sighters that land dead center doesn't mean much if your vertical group size over 25 shots is 3x that size.

I hope this makes sense.

Mike
