HW/Weihrauch  Weihrauch or Beeman

Hello all. New gunner here. I'm planning to upgrade from my Crosman Sierra Pro .177 to an heirloom quality gun.
I love shooting soda cans, but I also want a gun capable of taking squirrels and rabbits at 25ish yards.

I've been looking at the Beeman R7 and R9 which shoot 700 and 935 fps respectively.
I've also looked at the Weihrauch HW30 (620 fps), the HW35 (850 fps) and the HW50 (820 fps).
Also the Diana 34 coming in at 830.

There seems to be a significant following for the Weihrauch brand of guns.
My question is this: with the lower velocities cited for the Weihrauch, wouldn't the Beman or Diana be my better choice since there isn't much difference in pricing?
Or am I missing something else?

Thanks, Steve

BSA  Added this wonderful BSA Light Pattern Militia Rifle to the "Pellets & Pistons" Arsenal...

So, I struck up a new friendship with a very nice Gentleman in Amsterdam and he offered me a very fair deal on this .177 cal., classic gem from the days of old. If I remember correctly, he told me that it was made in 1927. I could be wrong. I'm certain that there are experts on these early BSAs who could either confirm or correct me on this. Anyway, she's just too pretty not to share with my fellow springer guys and gals. It'll be featured on my channel probably in late summer to early fall of 2025. I record my content months in advance and set their release dates accordingly. Currently I've got content lined up for release into May, so it'll be a little while before this rifle is featured on the channel. In the meantime, here's a sneak peek. Enjoy!

Umarex  Umarex Notos Review

I picked up a Umarex Notos the other day and have been very impressed so far for what it is. The numbers on the chronograph are straight out of the box. I haven't fine tuned anything yet. It's shooting very nice groups with the factory barrel. I was getting easily under a dime at 50 yds and under a quarter at 75 yds. And I am excited about all the aftermarket options to bump the performance up on these. Although I may have to order another one to modify because I hate to tear this one apart as good as it is shooting. I will keep you guys posted on updates and modifications that we try.

Shopping for a new target scope

I have tried over two dozen scopes in my recent years, bought and traded many until I settled finally what I am sure I will keep for a while.

Along the line I have learned and built my preferences, I like the best a high power glass that can zoom in and see the .22 holes at least 100 meter rings. In all weather conditions.

Currently dual purposing my Falcon X50T (Japanese glass - Long Range scope) between my Impact MK2 100 meter BR airgun and my new to me W308 f-class project gun.
I like this scope clarity very much, I can clearly see the 308 holes @ 300 M in a sipping rain and when the light conditions are right @ 500 M as well.
No need an external spotter with this scope.

Tinkering about permanently mounting this X50T on the 308 PB, and searching now for the next glass that I would dedicate to my MK2 for 100 meters BR.

My hope was to get the new Falcon T50i, but my favourite source at Krales removed it from inventory.
The T50i is slightly cheaper but reviews telling the glass may be even crispier then the X50T.

My benchmark is - place a business card @ 100 and read it.

A reticle something like this?

Any suggestions?

PCP Rifle  NLA Skout Epoch. .25 & .30

I have an excellent condition and shooting skout epoch in slate gray with a 25” barrel. I only have one shroud but have the components to make this gun both .25 and .30 caliber. It will come with the neutral .25 liner. It will also come with the - and neutral .30 liners. It will come with probes, barrel chambers and muzzle nuts for both calibers. Super easy to change in just a few minutes. It also comes with digital gauges on bottle and HP reg. The cover on the bottle gauge wants to fall off so I just put some tape as a temp hold but as you can see it works 100%. Has the arca rail with attached picatiny for bipod. I will also include a Donny Fl adapter for using a 1/2x20 moderator. The gun will not come with the pictured moderator but will come with the Skout factory one. Note: I only have the .25 insert for the factory moderator. To shoot .30 you will need your own mod which is advisable anyway as the factory one isn’t super effective at quieting the gun down. Will ship in the factory Skout hardcase with the tool case with the stock accessories and orings. Scope and bipod not included. Due to my schedule I can generally only ship Monday and Tuesday. Looking for 1325 shipped for it all. That is not a scratch between the gauges. Was just lint or something. Thanks.

**Pellet twist rate liners **

***. Will include a factory .25 mag, factory .30 mag and a stud .25 mag.

HW/Weihrauch  HW30S restoration

I bought these 2 HW30S rifles recently. Both were NOS (new old stock). Problem was i was told they weren't shootable in their original state. This was due to dried leather seals and gummed up lubes from 50+ years of sitting unused.
So, I brought them to Airguntunes.com in New Hampshire. Scott Blair is the fine craftsman who delicately disassembled both guns and brought them back to life.

Scott is a fine craftsman and is renowned for his perfection when working on airguns. He delicately disassembled both rifles, cleaned, polished, and lubed them. He also managed to save the leather piston seal by soaking it. Unfortunately, the breech seals were beyond help, and for lack of new leather ones, they were replaced with JM synthetic seals. The rifles were then reassembled with great care and put back in the original 50+ year old ARH boxes.
Scott test fired them, and they are shooting beautifully!! It was a real treat to see these old rifles come back to life. He made a spread sheet detailing all the work and results. Great information to have one these "time capsules".
Here are a few pictures of the process for your perusal.
Enjoy!

My friend the pest killer

My friend are finally on the ball with his rag time NV scope, he have now shot 2 mice in 2 days and both in the first shot.
Maybe it is upping to 13 gr slugs that did the trick, but dont think so his SP M30 shoot the 10 gr ones just fine too.
you can barely see these little mice with that old scope, you can detect the movement and then you have to shoot where the movement stopped and hope for the best.

Even more spectacular, yesterday dialing in his SP pistol with a cheap ass dot sight, this colorful guy waltzed right in across the field to the bait station.
And that was a mistake as the baby eagle are visiting every day now, so my M8 dropped it at 25 M with a single 13 gr pellet to the back.
So baby eagle will have a royal meal tomorrow when it swing by the 20 foot container.

And still enough power to make it all the way thru it, it took off after the hit, made it 10 M or so, dropped and moved a little for a few seconds, and then it was gone.
By the looks of the red foam on the beak i would say he at least got the lounges too.

For what it is, a cheap ass pistol and ditto scope i think it was a fine shot, flipping the 4 / 5 paddles on the Gamo resetting target at 30 M was not easy.

Airgun Technologies  Uragan leaking air/airgunnation

I have a Uragan that developed a leak at the bottle end of the high-pressure hose.
I did a search in airgunnation and found threads that gave me an idea of where and how to possibly rectify my issues.
I want to say that this forum has so much information with regards to air guns, that should have signed up to be a member years ago.
Airgunnation is a source of info that I will be using going forward.

Benjamin  New style pumper scope?

Just out of curiosity I spent some time looking for an ultra compact scope that could be fitted to a pumper that would not extend past the receiver, allowing full access to the grip area. I ran across this unusual option, a zero eye relief scope for non-recoiling airguns. Since it can be mounted 2 to 3 inches further back than normal, it should not extend past the receiver. Finding a scope mount that attaches to the receiver is still a problem, but Baker has one that fits the newer 397/392. An interesting alternative to a scout scope.

question about carbon fiber tanks

So i noticed a lot of people like to go with the air venturi tanks. I also noticed they are priced significantly higher than some of the chinese brands. Such as tuxing, snowrain, acecare, etc.. Is the reason for this the DOT certification? I am seeing very affordable tanks that people dont tend to really bring up as much as air venturi. I was wondering if maybe manufacturing these at a cheaper price one day could be a good business venture or not. I have a lot of friends and family in China and India so it was making me wonder.

bfb3c3e8-f01b-4fd4-be9a-530d69f71953-1_all_4708.jpg

Shooting about 12fpe for 30 shots per fill or 3 full mags from a 2850psi fill and it's loves predator GTO lead free pellets. I put this together as a trainer rifle to use with my nephews and it worked phenomenally with the LOP being able to be adjusted down for youth and the easy to use bolt that they are familiar with. It also has the gen1 mrod adjustable trigger and spacer along with an upgraded RAW trigger blade which sets back a bit further from the factory trigger again aiding youth or small frame shooters.
1000017696.jpg

The stock of course can easily be set for an adult as well and makes for a great barn pest, general use carbine.(36.5in Oak, 30in with the LDC off.)
Asking $400 shipped with 2 mags, or $475 with Hawke 4-12x40 Panorama scope and mounts.

EaZy Trigger Fill for PCPs

Ed (EPG) got me interested in this lil’ do dad. I really like it.

If you are at the range, or at the bench in your backyard and you fill from an air tank several times during your shooting session, take a look at this EzAy Fill Trigger from Edgun. $ 150, not cheap but worth it to me anyway.

While this is not an endorsement, I saw this on a recent AEAC review and Steve demo’d the easy way to fill your PCP air guns without removing or bleeding your fill wip from the gun each time you fill and remove the hose. A side benefit is that you save air, especially if you fill or top off 6, 8, 10 times or more during your session.

Here’s one example. I brought my RAW TM1000x .177 to the range this past week. My GW was approximately at 3600 psi when I started and is currently at around 3300 psi. But, I probably filled it from 150 BAR to 220 BAR about six times. I honestly don’t know how much air it can save, but it appeared to save quite a bit. I only bled the GW tank valve one time, when I was finished. You can leave the Trigger in your gun or remove it, based on your preference. I tried both ways.

I like the idea of using the red EzAy fill trigger vs. loosening the yoke on my Great White. Why? Because it’s simple, and I can fill slow or fast by controlling the EzAy lever which is spring attached. I use the GW tank pressure gauge to stop when I am at max fill pressure on a particular PCP. I also avoid bending over every time I’m behind the bench to fill the gun by reaching for the Yoke on the GW.

AoA and Utah Air have them in stock. Here is a link that describes the features below: There are a few YouTubes that also demo the product.

FX  Skeptical

I was talking to a guy today that told me his buddy consistently makes 200+ yard headshots on ground squirrels. I told him I could I only do that with my 204/223 powder burner(and even then, not consistently). He said the guy is making 0.25" to 0.50" five shot groups at 200yds. I believe the shooter is using an FX custom 25 cal with with heavy slugs. The shooter said(we talked to him on the phone) that he is shooting at 1100+ ft/sec, so it is subsonic, but I don't remember what weight slugs he was shooting. I invited him to my gun range to show me because even though I don't think it is impossible, I just feel that with my experiences and seeing people shooting high end powder burning varmint rifles, it just seems rather improbable. I am no fan of eating crow, but I'm willing to eat a whole plate full just to see this guy shoot a couple of sub moa 5 shot groups at 200yds with an air rifle with consistency. If you know of people achieving this sort of accuracy, I'd like to know about it.
