Greenhill Formula ?

@Ballisticboy

thoughts on this i picked up on facebook?

Greenhill Formula
helps you find the right twist rate for your barrel to make sure the bullet stays stable and accurate. Here's the formula:
(C x D2) ÷ L = T
T: twist rate (in inches)
C: A constant (150 for speeds below 850 m/s, 180 for higher speeds)
D: Bullet diameter (in inches)
L: Bullet length (in inches)
How to use it
1. Measure the bullet length and diameter
2. Choose the constant C based on the bullet’s speed.
3. Plug the numbers into the formula to get the right twist rate.
Why use it?
This formula helps you pick the right ammo for your barrel or check if your gun works well with specific bullets. The better the twist rate matches, the more accurate your shots will be

Optics  NLA possible trade for optic

i’m considering trading my discovery scope for a lower magnification optic. i got this about 2 months ago but the size is a lil too big for my taste. anything between 16x to 24x max magnification FFP illuminated side focus around the same price range would be great. only mounted on the huben k1 and never dropped. very clear image quality but it’s just cumbersome. all hardware will be included.

show me what you got. i’ll be taking the classified down in a few days if nothing tickles my fancy. thanks guys! 🤙🏽

Skout  SKOUT Epoch COMPACT (Video Review)

20250117_141758.jpg

This thing is awesome. No question these things shoot like lasers right out of the box. So fun! Here is a full review of the 28.5 inch long .22 Epoch Compact with the 17 inch Lothar Walther barrel. 60 shots per fill (shot string at end of video). This gun was tuned out of the box for 22.07 JTS at 901 FPS and the JSB Redesigned Deep at 855 FPS. I forgot to say in the video that it is so compact that the balance feels great to me. Gotta love Skout Airguns! Thanks for watching! -Nate

GX CS4

Well as my first compressor I went with the GX CS4- so far really liking it, performs very well, fills my Umarex Gauntlet 2 SL pretty fast, initial dead head test on the supplied factory hook up hose was 24 seconds to 300 bar, hope it keeps performing well, is there a temperature gauge for this unit.

Gx cs4i unneeded temperature gauge

Just wanting to see the insides I bought a temperature gauge to hookup . From previous running of the machine I don’t think it’s needed.
I m curious to see from ambient to what a high temp is. Probe is only shimmed in under safety thermocouple? on top of head. I thought it was real clean and neat inside. If you ever wanted to add cooling , looks easy.

however this pump is not built to run like the fast noisy run hot ones. I’m playing with it.

ps. The zip ties are ugly and temporary. I briefly was worried about breaking a warranty but the truth is I never cared or used a warranty
( maybe a car was used ) and never pay for extended. So the filters will be mounted properly today. THERE I talked myself right into that.

Other  A.H Hartley Tiger 10 LE & Falcon Hawk FN-19

Finally received these two classic and very classy rifles on Friday.
Weeks delay due to the power being shut off during the winds and fires in SoCal.
The Falcon Hawk still had air, after figuring out how to fill the tube I presurizerd it to 2000psi.
Test fired that night, into the ground, Bang, done, still works.
This morning I chrono a couple rounds ~825FPS with Norma 15.9

Then then fun began, tried to air up the Hartley.
Tube leaks, Gun interface leaks, internal leaks.
So I started pulling things apart.
Every o'ring was flat and broke into pieces.
Pulled everything i was comfortable with and replaced all the o'rings i could find.
Rifle is based on the BSA Superten.
Put it all back together and lo and behold 2500PSI and holding.
So, i figured load up the magazine with some of my .22 gathering dust Crossman recreational 14.3
Very respectable 900FPS.

Now i need some 11mm scope rings.
Only had a couple cantilever one piece mounts in 11mm and they blocked the magazines on both rifles.
Amazon delivering to tomorrow, so no scopes and no accuracy checks...

Now onto FrankenTalon hammer upgrade

Just a note about c88machining

I bought a Zelos bottle adapter from this place for 53 total with shipping , and tax. I wanted to mention if you scroll down on E bay to the area where it says about this seller , and select the 30 other products by this seller it may be of some interest to some here in this Nation. I seen some parts for FX , Notos , Zelos , Avenger , and others.
I'm requesting from the seller to make an adapter to use the Scott fireman bottle with the new production airgun stations available , so we don't have to use the old fireman valve. If there is anyone else that would like this product as well let me know , so I can help get them on the way. Thanks Steve.

Traditional Rifle  SOLD MAKE OFFER. RWS 34 Meistershutze PRO Compact w/ scope

RWS / Diana 34 Compact Professional Meisterechutze .177 T-06 trigger. The rifle is in excellent condition. Only trouble is it is difficult to cock for an old man even with the oversized cocking aid. Comes with the original RWS 3X9 AO scope. I bought it to use for piston field target.

Make offer. Need to raise $ for a pistol.

Asking $300 shipped or offer.

Hunting Rifle Help/Guidance

Hello all, new here. Long time reader who finally joined.

I have been shooting my Remington Vantage 1200 in .177 with a Sightmark Wraith HD. I have found the JSB Match Diablo Exact in 8.44 grains to work the best in this specific rifle. Never had it on a chrono, but I recon it would be around 800FPS or so with this pellet. I thoroughly enjoy small game hunting with it, but it leaves me desiring more. My state (NJ) allows only .177-.22 (minimum speed of 600FPS) for hunting, with the largest predator we can target being a raccoon. While effectively harvesting easily 100+ squirrels and rabbits over my 15 years of ownership with this rifle, I can't effectively take raccoon with it. Have I? Yes, when the yardage and proper shot presented itself, but not with 100% confidence.

I have been eyeing moving up to an entry PCP rifle (Air Venturi Avenger in .22), but was not sure if that would be my best bang for buck for hunting. It wont be used much else besides hunting and the occasional sighting in/target plinking. New Jersey does not allow any types of suppression, so all of the factory options with internal suppression aren't allowed. Even a Gamo Whisper is technically a big "no" here.

Accuracy and down range effectiveness are my main concerns. I would say that most of my shots will be 30 yards and in based on where/how I hunt. So, what do you all say? I have been reading the forums for weeks now trying to decide between an entry PCP, a new break barrel, etc. Any and all advice is welcome on this topic for me with my intended species as well as the limitations set by my state.

Nick

Airforce  Different Valves give VERY different results.

I have been slowly making my way through turning an older .22 Talon SS into a FrankenTalon. I put a Huben Power Cricket Z valve and an Acecare Fat 1.1L bottle and with minimal tuning was throwing H&N Barracude Match at 850 FPS (also the original bottle and valve). So I next went down the path of a high flow valve and a Huben Power MAX-ATH with the 50cc plenum. The results were disappointing to say the least, 250FPS.

The sound of the hammer strike is muted so my assumption is that the valve isn't getting stuck hard enough. Is there an adjustment to the valve or hammer that I'm missing? Same issue with Chinese valves and Trajectron High Flow valve.
